  1. While pitching is a greater need heading into next season, CF remains a question mark as well. The Rays appear to be high on Desmond Jennings, who could take over for Upton in center. While his attitude has been questionable, his raw talent is just the opposite. He is coming off a poor season and I feel that he would be a good buy-low candidate with high upside. While he strikes out a lot, he gets on base (.386 in 2007, .383 in 2008, and .303 this year) at a good clip. He is only 25 and just two years removed from a .300/.386./.508/.894 season. He will be entering his first year of arbitration in 2010. The link below is from a Phil Rogers article in the Chicago Tribune, so it may just be his opinion that either Upton or Crawford may be on the block. However, I think he could be available as he is not as well liked, nor as valuable, as Carl Crawford. Does anyone else feel that he would be a good option in CF next season? What would it take to acquire him? http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/columnistscs-phil-rogers,0,1373147.columnist
  2. You can never have enough Brewer shirts, so I would be interested as well.
  3. If you like jam bands, check out Umphrey's McGee. They are incredible.
  4. On a positive note, at least I don't have to look at those stupid hats anymore.
  5. Why can't you see Bogut and Oden together? Thet are not alike at all. Oden is obviously a great defender, and his raw offensive skills keep him near the basket looking for putback dunks. Bogut isn't nearly the same defensive presence, and he can step back and make a jumper. They should be able to work well together.
  6. His first name is Rolando.
  7. Principessa21 - what do you have against Junior?
  8. Jenkins Vargas Braun for Harden Chavez the Douche That is absurd. First, Chavez hasn't hit the ball well since 2004. Since then his average has never topped .269 and his ops has never topped .795, and they are steadily dropping. Plus, he is making $9.5 million this year. That is what Braun, who might already be a better hitter, will make in the next several years combined. He is a good fielder, but he's not the most durable player either. Harden has great stuff, so he would be a nice guy to get for cheap. The A's will never let him go for cheap, and the Brewers shouldn't even consider giving up a top prospect (Braun, Inman, etc.) for such a huge injury risk.
  9. I don't really think having Upton would be all that great. Where would he play? I guess it would be nice if he could play in center and Hall could slide over to left. Like mentioned earlier, he doesn't have the best attitude. All that for CV and Inman? Not a chance...
  10. Even if most of this thread came before Wells signed his new deal, now that he signed for that much money means anyone who thought he could be had for Hall and Clark is so far displaced from reality. I thought it was pretty clear that offer would have gotten the Brewers laughed at long before the contract.
  11. Not a chance. Hughes is by no means a product of the NY system. They have had a pretty barren system for a while anyways. Also, he is seen by many as the best pitching prospect in baseball. That said, if he reaches his ceiling in a few years, he will be as good as Sheets. There is no point to this trade and no way it would even be considered.
  12. I would be very excited if Rios could be acquired for mench and either cv.
  13. Crawford stands to make $4 million in 2007...not that large yet.
  14. I understand that some pitching prospects turn out to be busts. I also understand that no team can be built entirely from within. I'm just saying that the Brewers have some pretty talented youngsters and they shouldn't just give them away to acquire a bat that isn't a significant upgrade. That said, I think that Crawford could be a significant upgrade, especially since he still is improving. However, if young prospects such as Rogers and Inman aren't all that valuable, why would Tampa Bay trade Crawford for a Brewers package based around one of them? They want major league ready arms anyway, so that wouldn't be any help to them. I still wouldn't give up Galardo in a Crawford deal. So what does that leave? I would be more than willing to give up Jackson, Eveland, Hendrickson, etc., but that won't get a deal done unless the Brewers toss in some other important piece. Basically, I'm trying to say that it's not worth giving up a young pitching prospect, or any prospect for that matter, to get back a corner outfielder that is as good as Mench, Jenkins, or Gross.
  15. I understand that pitching prospects are hit and miss, especially young ones like Inman. However, I feel that their potential reward is far greater than whatever they would return in a trade.
