  1. I would wager I'm the only guy on the entire forum who prefers the 90's Design- stuck in the period of pure loserville. Anyhow- my thoughts: Present Design: More or less Bland, though that seems to be the style with most baseball uniforms- exceedingly colorless and without any intriguing details. But in this case, the navy and wheat gold simply don't strike a chord with me. The colors themselves are dried up, and the gold itself is mainly a thin accent all around anyways. Can't really object to the text or the numbering, and maybe the logo is nice, but the colors don't do proper justice. Classic Design: Not really digging it- but then I JUUUUUUUUST missed those old days. I tend to think people just have their 'Nostalgia Glasses' on when Retro Night comes around. Though I wouldn't object to the old logo making a comeback myself- you can still play around with the basic design. Potential Upgrades; -Add a Third Color. In this case, I prefer Green. Green was a second accent alongside gold for the 90's unis, and while people seem to gag over the overall look, the reality is the design looks considerably more colorful with that third color in place. -Make gold a bit more prominent. You just don't see it very well on the present design- it's so dry it can't stand out and gets swallowed up by the navy. -Try revolutionizing the old logo. You may have noticed some logos- mainly NFL Helmets- making subtle updates in order to look sharper. I'm thinking Cardinals, Seahawks, Lions. The glove can potentially be re-fitted in the same manner, or at the very least given a re-coloring that better matches the present color palette. A white or gold glove doesn't sound so bad. And on a final note- you only hate the 90's look because the Brewers were losers during that same stretch.
  2. Jumping in on an unrelated note... is there a specific reason why teams don't dare to implement the sort of wide-open offense Pheonix was going with through most of the double-oughts? Seven seconds or less? Closest thing to 'Showtime'-style basketball in the 80's? Is there a reason a team with marginal talent and a lukewarm fanbase like Milwaukee doesn't adopt this sort of style to rack up high scoring games and drum up some interest?
  3. So what does a Top-20 player get you as a Top Banana? Well, fringe contention for the last playoff spots, for one thing. Essentially, Redd as the #1 option is good for about 40 wins give or take, good enough to sneak into the playoffs in the East, but comparatively mediocre and fairly uninteresting. For a guy paid like a true #1, that's pretty dissapointing. It also places the team in perpetual limbo- never advancing past the first round, rarely striking gold in the lottery.
  4. Would've been funnier if he used a bat during the swing.
  5. I'm almost interested in Milwaukee virtually destroying its roster and rebuilding entirely from the ground up. Sort of like what the Nuggets tried to do for the LeBron sweepstakes, only they ended up with Melo instead.
  6. A 4.50 ERA Carlos Villanueva, or Wayne Franklin. Wayne Franklin or Carlos Villanueva pithcing a 4.50 ERA. Hmmmm.... That's a toughie. Lemme get back to you on that one.
  7. You could also argue that Suppan acts more or less as a 'Rotation Buffer', ensuring the young propsects this club grooms to be future Starters don't get thrown into the majors well before they are ready. You can also argue that the 'dependability' factor works in this role too, as someone like Vargas or maybe even Bush would have a very hard time playing the 'Buffer' role during one of their more atrocious outings. Besides, the tune of this thread might very well change if more starters go down over the season like Capuano.
  8. First Knee-Jerk Reaction: This is a teeny tiny feel-good story. Second Knee-Jerk Reaction: Right now, the MLB needs every single feel-good story it can get its collective mitts on.
  9. Well, it ain't 'Counsellino' from last year. That's a plus.
  10. ....y'know, I always thought the Yankees would dig up Thurman Munson's corpse rather than sign someone like Chad for the Catcher spot, even if it only places the guy in AAA or something.
  11. According to this, he had a successful Heart Procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat, if anyone was paying attention to the few days' drama concerning him. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AsUwApnmlvCaN.BX47mmwKERvLYF?slug=ap-cubs-derosa&prov=ap&type=lgns
  12. Alright, this is probably in bad taste, but I'll just say it anyway; Concerns about Prince with 'Bad BAD Boras' basically stem to the fact that Boras is Prince's agent, and if Pricne listens to Sheffield and gets a new agent... well, it increases the chance Princes stays in Milwaukee. Granted, it's probably very very wrong from Brewcrew2004's standpoint, but it looks like the closest possible rationale for that statement.
  13. If Dillon gets enough PT for 20 HR, it'll come at the expense of somebody else, which means the max of 20 HR players will probably be seven. Well... maybe if his PT is because of a Braun Injury...
  14. Geez, the whole lot of you people make me feel DUMB. I mean, I could tell you I enjoy Nickelback- at least a good number of their songs- but I sure as heck could never accurately tell you WHY I do. Same thing with books, movies, TV shows, etc. I don't even try to put my feelings into articulate thoughts. I couldn't even give a rip roaring fart about how stale and mimicky Nickelback really is because I've never thought about one's music in that way. Besides, when it comes to performing at a 'Safe' level like Nickelback and eschewing the money-making safety for creativity, there's only one kind of person who would chose option B over A; the 'Redwood Tree up the bum' arrogant people who are pretty much narcissisticly in love with their own eliteness.
