  1. I know it's seems early, but we're actually nearing the halfway point of the season. The Brewers are 8 games above .500, so how would you grade Ron Roenicke, and why?
  2. Nice to see Betancourt getting a hit -- a one out, bases empty single in the ninth down by 7 runs. I'm sorry, but this guy doesn't belong in the majors. And as far as I'm concerned, neither does Ron Roenicke. I haven't seen this type of pitching/game mismanagement since Grady Little...
  3. Who's been pitching better, Loe or Estrada? I'm not sure on the numbers, but it seems as though it's been Estrada. I think Estrada pitched one inning either yesterday or the day before. Why couldn't RR have brought him in? I have zero confidence in Loe these days.
  4. Ouch is the least of what I said. Anybody know what the percentage of times the Brewers score a run with a runner at third and less than two out? I can handle the Brewers losing (I'm used to it), but nothing urks me more than not being able to manufacture a run, i.e. productive outs.
  5. When the Gerut/Gwynn trade went through, I thought it was a head scratcher. Why trade away a left-handed outfielder for a left-handed outfielder? I mean, why not just bring up Gwynn? Since the trade, here are the numbers for each guy: Gwynn: Avg = .298, OBP = .376, RBI = 7, HR = 1 Gerut: Avg = .093, OBP = .171, RBI = 1, HR = 0 Today Gerut hit into an inning-ending double play. This guy has done nothing for the Brewers. Was anyone else confused about this trade? Has anyone heard the reasoning behind it?
  6. Here's how I grade the Brewers for the Red Sox series: Pitching: F 19 earned runs (6.3 per game), 10 strikeouts, 12 walks given, 6 home runs allowed Hitting: B+ .252 team batting average, 16 runs scored, 7 homeruns, 27 hits, 24 strikeouts, 9 walks taken, 23 left on base Fielding: F- 6 errors, not to mention the botched double-plays and dropped steal attempt throws. Overall: D- The bats came alive somewhat during this series, mostly Ryan Braun. I guess this does provide some hope, but there are still WAY too many strikeouts, as well as a lack of clutch hitting. I won't even get into the lead-off situation. SILVER LINING: At least there were no 9th inning closer issues…
  7. At least there were no 9th inning closer issues...
  8. I can't remember a more frustrating game to watch, since maybe the Jerry Royster era. It's really sad when you just KNOW that they're not getting that runner in from third with less than 2 outs. Had they simply done that, they'd have 3 more runs and still have a chance to win this thing. Luckily for the Cubs, they're getting the Brewers just when they needed. Leave it to the Brewers to cure what ails ya...
  9. As much as it pains me to say, I agree about the Brewers being a 500 ball team. Even though I didn't want to believe it, I think they did over-achieve earlier in the season. And I don't see it changing. I've been watching the Brewers play crap baseball for about as long as I can remember. Attanasio came here and actually boosted payroll, and with all this "young talent" we still suck. Yes, I know we're leading the division -- a crap division. This "young talent" can't seem to get a clutch base hit, or even a fly ball with a runner at third and less than two outs (that's what REALLY makes me steam!). I think that even though we over-paid for Suppan, he was a good addition to the pitching staff. But as for Estrada, I think I could start a whole new venting thread on him alone. I know his numbers aren't too bad for a catcher, but he said in a pre-season interview that he made it to the majors on his defense. WHAT?!! Has he even thrown out ONE base stealer this year? He's dropped at least one foul pop fly that he must have stared at for at LEAST 10 seconds. And talk about NO plate patience. I know it's bad when I'm longing to see Damien Miller in there. Thank God for this forum -- I think my wife and kids were getting sick of my rants... ----------------------------------------------------- "When they're winning, it seems like they'll never lose, and when they're losing, it seems like they'll never win" - Mark Attanasio
  10. At least the Cubs lost again. It's a good thing the whole NL Central is under-achieving, except for the Reds, of course. They're just bad.
  11. I'll tell ya, if it weren't for the fact that there are 3 V-Dub's under 20 grand, I'd off myself...
  12. They're collectively playing some of the worst baseball I've seen in some time. First-pitch hitting into double plays, dropping pop flies in foul territory, no clutch hitting. And Yost keeping out the NL leader in RBI (tied) and HRs (tied) so Craig Counsell can get some at-bats against a RHP -- sheer genious...
  13. I've got no problem with Gwynn starting, but the other humps...no way!
