  1. From what everyone is reporting in this thread it seems like Hardy got singled out. If this is the true reason for the altercation then imo it is one of the better scenarios possible. I am a big fan of the young talent we have, but for too long it seems like they have gotten a free pass because they were "young talent" they could make mistakes without too many consequences. Well they aren't rookies any more and the Brewers are not in a spot to let players play through their mistakes. It is simply time to put up or shut up. On the other hand it is great to see the veterans coming to the defense of their younger teammate. The youngest get the point, but won't be destoyed because of the support. I have never been a big fan of the "player's coach" or "player's manager" the manager doesn't need to be their friend. The manager must to be able to say things players need to hear whether they like it or not. We all need a kick in the pants sometimes. Sounds like things are fine. Imo it was a good thing to happen, but in the end I don't think it will have much bearing one way or the other on how the season ends. Just like I don't think it had much to do with the Cubs getting hot. They got rid of a cancer, but in the end they got hot because their hitters hit and their pitchers pitched. Lets not forgot the Cubs were a good team before the blow-up the bullpen was just letting them down.
  2. Found Uecker's call of the incident, but I don't think he could quite see what was going on since he didn't get all his facts straight. Uecker's Call of the Fight Seriously, this Yost-Estrada-Graffy incident at least breaks the status-quo because the status-quo sucked.
  3. I imagine that she and Ted Williams' daughter are close? Yep, got my legends mixed up. DIdn't think that sounded right.
  4. I just talked to Dimaggio's daughter. The Rule of Cryogenics are when you dethaw you are are technically the same age as when you are frozen since you stopped "living" during that time.
  5. If you are fishing for someone to rip on Belling I am not going to bite. However, I will say if you are listening to Belling for sporting insight you may want to change the channel. edit: Ok, Ok, I kinda bit.
  6. Didn't get to see the game yesterday, but listened to it and saw highlights. Was Sheets throwing quite a few change-ups yesterday? If he can incorporate that pitch into his game he we'll be even more fun watch.
  7. Just checking out the league leaders in holds just to get a sample top setup men. Turnbow's stats hold up with anyone's. I'll take T-bow until he starts blowing two in a week instead of one every month. Holds
  8. Ah it is no big deal. I was just surprised how much it has gone up. I remember when it used to be $1.25 per ticket and no "order charge".
  9. Wow. I hadn't had to order tickets over the phone for awhile. $3.25 Ticket Charge + $3 order charge For 4 tickets that is an extra $16. I assume there would be a shipping charge of something like $5 to make it $21 just to order tickets that have jumped up substantially. I usually just get my tickets at the gate, but with ticket demands going up it is harder to get the tickets I want. Now someone needs to explain what a $3.25 ticket charge is. Isn't the price of the ticket the charge. I can see a processing fee of $3, but then what is the difference. I know they have always had these charges, but it seems it keeps going up every year and nobody complains. Ok, done with my rant. I will take my chances at the stadium. I guess that is the price to pay for a good team.
  10. Where does Cole Gillespie rate out for defense? Is he a 5-tooler? I really would like to root for a CF. The Brewers haven't really had a great defender in CF that could take hits away. The Brewers have had about 14 years of defensive futility since Yount vacated CF. Try ranking this group for worst to not-so-worst defensively. Did I miss anyone who played CF for an extended period of time? Bill Hall Brady Clark Scott Podsednik Alex Sanchez Jeffrey Hammonds Devon White Marquis Grissom Gerald Williams Chuckie Carr Pat Listach (Forgot he moved to CF for awhile) Daryll Hamilton Alex Diaz
  11. I'll answer tha by listing who's box score lines I check first: Boy Jeenius - that is a good way to put my question. Until recently it was: Braun Yo Inman Fermaint Salome I need a new class of prospects to track.
  12. Salome is a guy I will probably track mainly because of the position. I get excited about anyone you can play the up-the-middle positions. Catcher, SS, 2B, and CF. I think if you can get above average players at those positions your team can contend (assuming pitching is taken care of). I would just love to see the Brewers develop a star CFer. I have always loved to watch the best mlb CF'ers play. Be nice to see some one become the player we thought Krynzel might be.
  13. I peruse the minor league board, but I must admit I don't keep track of the upcoming players as much as others do. My question is: Now that Ryan and soon Yovanni will be with the big league club who do you get most excited about when it comes to them becoming a future big leaguer? I have usually followed our future stars (Prince, JJ, Corey, at one time Brad Nelson, etc), but now I don't know who to check up on anymore. I take a look at the Power 50. The only one I get real excited about is Inman. I used to check Charlie Fermaint's stats daily, but it seems he struggled at the end of last year and the beginning of this year. Does Charlie's future still look bright? Just seeing who the guys who pay close attention to the minors get excited about. Thanks
  14. Graffy and Counsell, I can take one at a time, but both of them back-to-back, Suicide. Doug and Ned figure it out soon!
  15. http://www.affordablehousinginstitute.org/blogs/us/Kneejerk_small.jpg Personally I liked the way Ned Managed the game. Besides not having another option to go to tonight in the pen. Turnbow can't pitch every 8th inning and after yesterday how many people would have questioned putting him back in. Can't use Coco everyday. Wise is good for one clean inning and then things usually blow up from there. Dessens? No thanks. Shouse v. righties doesn't excite me. Carlos has logged a lot of innings and has shown he can't always find the zone right away. Ned's hands were tied. For this individual game Ned did alright by me. I like the "do anything to win" attitude by pinch hitting for Jenkins and Mench. Was it the right call to pull Mench, who knows, but I like the attitude. Definitely a different Yost then last year. Now I question why was Turnbow in yesterday. That would have been a nice spot for Aquino. They have to try to win with those 4 run leads without putting Cordero, Turnbow, or Wise in. Save them for the 1 and 2 run games as much as possible. How many times did the Brewers have Albers on the ropes and couldn't cash in? Once again a manager gets too much credit for wins and too much blame for losses.
