  1. Saw this on vivaelbirdos, thought it was particularly clever. It describes their astonishment that Octavio Dotel was allowed to pitch to 2 lefties (Plush and Fielder). Also apparantly StL fans have dubbed Marc Rzepczynski with a nickname: 'Scrabble'. Octavio Dotel has a .938 OPS allowed against left-handed hitters. Marc Rzepczynski has allowed lefties an OPS of .462. That's a nearly 500 point difference. In other words, Dotel and Scrabble's respective abilities to contain left-handed hitters is almost a full Tony La Russa infielder apart.
  2. Stephen Colbert did a bit on Counsell's hitless streak. Too good to not pass along: http://www.brewcrewball.c...ig-counsells-near-record
  3. I agree with the strategery involved here. But not when a $14 million is on the line. K-Rod saving a game here or there giving axford rest is fine. K-Rod coming anywhere close to 21 finishes is grounds for termination.
  4. If he comes close to the remaining 21 finishes because of this Roenicke should be fired immediately. That's just asinine, there's no reason to do this.
  5. McCalvy is reporting that the brewers are interested in signing him: http://brewersbeat.mlblog...ortedly_tracking_lo.html
  6. It probably should be noted that last year he said something to the affect that he had never struggled like he had been before. Throughout highschool / minors / first year and a half in the majors he was just always productive. He never had to work through struggles like what started toward the end of 2008. Hopefully he has learned how to adapt to struggles and can continue his hot streak.
  7. As a fellow Brent and a brewer fan, I couldn't help but root for him. Sad day.
  8. Now I'm not one for this sort of thing, always found them corny and over the top but I just can't wait any longer for this season to begin. So, GO BREWERS. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
  9. What would only be funnier would be if it were one of RJ Swindle's curve balls. If you were coordinated enough you could probably catch it with your front hand and toss it back is if it were an underhand softball.
  10. Awesome. I was gonna say, everytime I read the winter league updates I would look for his name. Seemed like he always put up a pretty good stat line.
  11. Slightly off topic, but does anyone else notice how much Randy Wolf looks like Geoff Jenkins? Kinda creeping me out.
  12. Agreed. I do like the supposed 'plan' that Hadricourt was reporting. Sign Wolf.. (check) Explore trade opportunities for young starting pitching... Re-look at FA situation and shoot for late signing bargain SP...
  13. CF yes, 3B probably assuming regression from Casey. 1B might see some regression as well. 2B is interesting because we did get a surprising amount of production there from counsell and later lopez. Probably stretching it a bit here, but if we get a healthy weeks that we saw in the first month last year then we are still getting really good production out of 2B. Hard to get much worse production of out catcher though. I think Lucroy should be able to post at least a kendall-esque OBP plus a bit more slugging.
  14. According to MLB Trade rumors Mike Fontenot (haha cubs) has reached super 2 status along with Adam Jones and Micah Owings. I remember reading something about Carlos Gomez possibly being a super two. Does his name not being on this list mean that he indeed is not super 2? http://www.mlbtraderumors...ts-super-two-status.html
  15. Has it been stated anywhere that the brewers are not going to offer Cameron arbitration? Is there really any downside to doing it other than the chance that he accepts? Cameron seems like a straight shooter and by now knows that CF in Milwaukee is not his job anymore. He's always said how much he's appreciated the straight-forward way in which Doug Melvin does business. I'm wondering if it makes sense to offer him arbitration with a gentlemanly agreement for Cameron to decline thus resulting in the brewers picking up a supplemental pick. Is there any downside for Cameron agreeing to this, since being a type-B, any team that signs him won't have to forfeit a pick and he won't end up in a Orlando Hudson-esque situation
