Thanks, and slickdeals.net is an amazing website. I check there almost everyday, probably at a detriment to my bank account since I then want to buy stuff all the time. A few months ago I was buying a new hdtv and I found a link to a deal on amazon for a Sony 46 inch 1080p 120Hz lcd and a blue ray player for $850 with free shipping. At Best Buy, the total for the exact same products would have been around $1600.

Even without Ballack Germany should make it out of their group. I think it will be them and Ghana advancing. It will be interesting to see what happens after that, especially since Germany is a potential matchup for the US if we advance. On a side note, I have hated Ballack ever since he scored against us In the quarterfinals in Korea. I remember being devastated after watching that game and the obvious handball on the line didn't help. I just watched the highlights for the first time since that game ended. Here is the link for anyone that didn't watch: We dominated that game, but just couldn't get the ball past Oliver Khan. And finally, I would recommend Soccernomics to all of you who are interested in the sport. It is very interesting and gives you a new perspective on the sport even if you have followed it for a while.

My favorite soccer website is probably epltalk.com. Normally they focus on the EPL but they, along with a few of their sister sites, will be providing comprehensive world cup coverage. They have just started their daily World Cup podcasts. For the rest of may they are interviewing pundits from around the world, and then starting in June they are going to be going over each group. Here is the link to their WC coverage plans: http://www.epltalk.com/20...pl-talk/19570#more-19570 Also Special 1 TV is coming back. If you have never seen it before just search "special 1 tv" on youtube and enjoy. It's a weekly fake call in show hosted by puppet versions of Jose Mourinho, Wayne Rooney, and Sven Goran Eriksson. You will need to have some understanding of European soccer and the players, but if you do the show is absolutely hilarious. I can't wait for this to start. I think that the draw worked out very well for the US and we should definitely make it out of the group stages. If you look past that, we are also in position to win a game our two if we play well. It's not an easy road by any means, but compared to what we could have gotten, it's not bad. I think the Confederations Cup did a lot for the confidence of this team. Now they know they can play with the best teams in the world. My biggest concern is that they play down to level of Slovenia or Algeria and struggle to advance.

I have never typed the abbreviation for laughing out loud in a text, IM, on Facebook, or anywhere else.

Although I'm not a freestyle expert, I could not for the life of me figure out why the French guy who went last did not get a medal. He had the fastest time by a few hundredths of a second and his jumps looked clean. I thought he had a legitimate chance of taking the gold away from the Canadian before his score was posted, as did the commentators who said that it was going to be very close. I was shocked when he ended up 6th. I guess I just don't like events that are based on the combination of a quantifiable distance or time as well as a subjective style rating. Why doesn't the longest ski jump always win? Keeping all other conditions constant, doesn't the distance indicate the best form? That being said I love watching this stuff. Only during the Olympics will I spend a few hours watching something like cross country skiing.

http://gizmodo.com/5451239/xbox-live-may-kill-cable-with-live-streaming-sports-from-espn This could be really interesting. I know ESPN is on of the main reason people wouldn't consider dropping cable or satellite. I'm guessing it will start out with mostly the stuff you get on ESPN 360. But, if they eventually get all their main programing and live games I would definitely consider ending my cable subscription, especially considering I can get every tv show I like over Netflix or Hulu. I don't now how this will play out but it could be huge for ESPN. I think there are many people who would pay a reasonable fee for something like this, especially if it had some type of on demand feature where you could watch whatever whenever.

I'm making my way through "The Book of Basketball: The NBA According to The Sports Guy." I don't really like basketball that much, but I do enjoy Bill Simmons's writing so I decided to get it. If you enjoy Simmons you will probably like it, and even if you don't you still might like it if you really like basketball. Regardless of your opinion of the guy you can tell by reading this that he both knows and cares a lot about the sport.

The Rampage mostly played at Uihlein soccer park until they moved to a place on the south side for there last few years. Uihlein is terrible in terms of parking and the playing field isn't as good as it used to be. I don't remember the name of the place on the south side but it seemed decent for what an outdoor team would need.

Nottso, I think you can make that generalization about any sport especially if you didn't grow up playing or watching it. People in Europe think the NFL is boring because they see it as a bunch of fat guys running into each other for 10 seconds and then a 40 seconds of standing around with nothing happening. I personally find basketball to be a bunch of guys running back and forth with no real excitement until the last five minutes if its a close game at that point. In terms of the current situation with the Wave, i agree that going back to the outdoor game would be a great move. I loved going to the Rampage games and I think soccer has grown enough here to the point where people don't need the artificially high scoring that you got from playing indoors.

This is the main problem I have. Whether or not the contact is intentional, it is not justified just to get a BP ball which you already have hundreds of. To me it seems like your saying there are occasions where you would be justified in running into someone to get a ball.

I completely disagree. It's great the first year to meet a lot of people but I really don't see the point after that. It seemed to me that by the end of the second semester everyone was tired of the cramped rooms and sharing every minute of their life with a bunch of other people. When you move out of the dorms you get more space and privacy, and you have more control over who you live with. And regarding the studies you reference, it may be that the GPA influences the decision to live on or off campus rather than that decision having an affect on GPA. In other words, people with a higher GPA may have a higher tenancy to live on campus. This is just a guess however since I have not seen the studies that you are talking about.

I like the lineup a lot this year, especially from July 2-4. In those three days Guster, Matisyahu, Shinedown, Train, The Fray w/ Jack's Mannequin, and Flogging Molly are all playing. I would love to see them all but it would be impossible. I'll be happy if I can make it to Guster, The Fray and one of the other ones on that list. Like someone else mentioned this is one of the best lineups that I can remember, at least in my opinion.

I am going to disagree with everything you said. I think it is a relatively accurate portrayal of life in Madison from Thursday night to Sunday Morning. Like the previous poster said, the "coasties" statement doesn't really make sense. And in terms of production it actually is different since there are no camera crews or anything. It's just the kids with the camera. I realize however that the producers will edit it to make it fit what they want to show. With that said I don't really find the show all that interesting. Most of it is boring and there are times where you can't really hear what people are saying. Also figuring out a way to actually incorporate the University in a way that worked for UW and the producers of the show would probably have made it better.

Guster is actually really good and I would much rather see them than No Doubt, but that's just my opinion. I think they are more popular with college students. They just played here in Madison last week. If you look them up on Itunes Amsterdam, Satellite, and One Man Wrecking Machine are three of my favorites that they do.
