  1. I would be pretty surprised if Braun has known about this positive test for this long and hasn't told Melvin about it, he had to know it would eventually get out. And if Braun really is innocent like we all hope he is, then he really should have said something to Melvin along the lines of "Hey, they hit me with a false positive, I'm fighting it with appeals...and that." Knowing there is a chance you are going to sit for a third of the season, as your teams best player, and not telling your GM or manager about it would be completely irresponsible.
  2. I have read that a second, "more comprehensive" test resulted in a positive for synthetic testosterone, and now someone else is saying that a second test (requested by Braun) turned up negative. Which is it?
  3. My son also strongly believes in Santa Claus. That being said, I hope both of you end up being proven right, but I am not holding my breath.
  4. Those are BJ Upton's stats, not Justin Upton.
  5. Didn't Theo say they ruled out Sandberg immediately because they were looking for a manager with a lot of big league managing experience? I don't see any way in which Sveum fits that bill.
  6. I know people hate Yuni, and they have their reasons for it, but obviously Melvin and Roenicke don't. They had a chance to trade for a SS at the break, and they refused to. You could have had hairston play a little SS, but they didn't do that. Obviously the team doesn't see Betancourt as the big glaring weakness that the fans do, I wouldn't be surprised if he is back next year. A lot of people are talking about Reyes....for the money you'd have to pay that walking injury, you may as well just keep Prince, who at least is durable.
  7. It's been a fun ride, tip of the hat to the Cardinals, they played really, really well. This offseason for the Brew Crew should be...interesting to say the least. It might be irrational or whatever, but I will never be able to look at Marcum the same way again. He was decent for half the year, but all I will think next year when he pitches is "There's the guy who torpedoed our post season run..."
  8. In the last in game thread when Marcum started there was some poster who was absolutely convinced that Marcum was doing just fine and it was all just bad luck, etc. He was adamant that anyone who said marcum was toast just didn't know what they were talking about. I cannot wait for that guy to show up in here tonight. If he does, I hope he has removed his head from...uh, the sand.
  9. I would have Narveson warming up right beside Marcum in the bullpen before the game even starts.
  10. Again, I don't think he's really struggling. He's basically only been beat tonight by arguably the best player in baseball. That inning had a ball pop out of someone's glove, a ball hit where the defender normally would be if not for the hit and run, and another ball that would probably have been caught had Gomez been out there. But because 4 runs have scored, the average fan (not calling you that) will say Marcum sucks. Shaun Marcum's last 6 starts -- 33 IP, 46 H, 30 ER. That's an 8.18 ERA. I'm pretty sure that could be called "struggling".
  11. Marcum can stop being awful any day now, watching him pitch is painful.
  12. I refuse to say anything good about the Cardinals because I hate them with every fiber in my being.
  13. I hope Braun or Fielder do something this inning because I have no faith in Weeks, if they gave out a Least Valuable Player award in a playoff series, his name would already be engraved on it.
