  1. No, we just trade him to the American League.
  2. I was visiting a friend in Minnesota. His company had Twins tickets and he asked me if I wanted to go to the game the next day. The Orioles were in town. We saw history that day as Ripken singled three times, the last of which was career hit number 3000. It was my first and only time in the Metrodome. My friend isn't even a baseball fan. Like many others, I was in attendance for the Brewers' first playoff win in 26 years.
  3. Griffey's retirement and the perfect game controversy--baseball sure took center stage Wednesday night. We should be hearing from Brett Favre's camp again any day now...
  4. I got a kick out of listening to the guy: "A ball that goes over the fence and into those trees is a homerun." Born to do public radio.
  5. Tim McClelland: "I'm not sure I believe the replay on the first one." Wow. http://www.blitzcorner.com/MLB/Umpire-Tim-McClellands-Talks-Mistakes-ALCS-Game-4-Video
  6. Because if you keep it vague, then regardless of what happens, your "scoop" can't be considered wrong. If the Brewers acquire any starter...the scoop isn't wrong. I don't feel any different today than yesterday when someone says, "The Brewers are going to acquire a starter, but I dont know who" That was pretty much a given all year. But Brian's information that something is in the works soon is still exciting.FWIW, the "scoop" itself can't be wrong...it's simply a "scoop". Nobody knows with certainty how it will play out from here but it wouldn't change the reality of the situation at present. I'm certainly not concerned with being "right" (aside from the fact that either acquisition excites me). I stated already that I chose to be vague because I didn't receive the information firsthand. I could have posted nothing. Anywho, I'll leave you with this. I got pretty excited reading through this thread myself because I can tell you that Bedard and Lee were not names mentioned to me either. That's a strong indicator that the organization is indeed inquiring about frontline starters. I think it's clear for anyone doing the math in this thread who the one guy is, and I'll tell you the name of the fallback I heard hasn't even been mentioned in this thread.
  7. I'm going to be vague because I didn't get the information firsthand, but the source is legit. What I have heard is the Brewers already have a deal in place to acquire a starter and if that deal falls through it will be someone else--and that name was specifically mentioned. The main thing to take from this is that the organization is very actively pursuing a frontline starter from what I've heard. I will say it's not Clay Buchholz (at least that's not a name I heard). Oh, and it's not Babe Ruth.
  8. Yep, Vida Blue. Great job! That's a trick one.
  9. You got 'em.
  10. Jimmy Rollins is correct. NL - Jimmy Rollins AL - CY - Randy Johnson CY - Roger Clemens CY - CY -
  11. Not Chipper--there is one more recent. Randy Johnson and Roger Clemens are both correct.
  12. Name the last switch-hitter in each league to win the MVP Award. Name the four pitchers who have won the CY Young Award in both leagues.
  13. Geoff Jenkins looks like Brett Favre and now Ben Sheets acts like him...
  14. Manager 2008 - Ned Yost 2009 - Ken Macha *
