  1. Forgive me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure two teams from the same division can't play each other in the opening round of the playoffs (Philly and Atlanta). Meaning the Crew would either play the Phillies (as the 3 seed) or the Braves (as the 2 seed). So Brewers-DBacks wouldn't be possible until the 2nd round.
  2. Didn't really care for the gold Cerveceros jersey when I originally saw it but it's grown on me. It's just exciting to see the Brewers wearing something other than their typical white or blue home jerseys. As far as the retro vs new uniforms go... I prefer the new unis mostly because of the color scheme. Something about the pinstripes and shade of blue in the retro unis make them look RETRO, not something that could be worn on a regular basis. I think the organization would have changed back to the retro unis by now if they were truly contemplating it. I do love the "mb" logo and wish it would be used with the new navy and gold colors. An alternate "mb" navy and gold hat would look great with the current jerseys in my opinion. Several teams wear multiple alternate hats. The Brewers wear one (two if you count the retro hat which is only worn once every few weeks).
  3. Brady Street is the trendy area. You mentioned Austin... it's kinda like the SoCo area down there but not quite as extreme. There are a few bars on the street that can be fun to go to. JoCats is one that comes to mind. It's really small, always packed, and they rarely have drink specials but it always seems to be a good time there. Milwaukee Street is definitely the new popular area in the city. Most of the bars have strict dress codes (no tennis shoes, hats, etc), cover, and expensive drinks. I wouldn't suggest going to that area after a game. Might not be the crowd you're looking for. Water Street and 3rd Street run parallel to each other and are definitely the college bars. You'll find a lot of cool bars with good drink specials but you'll have to put up with a lot of drunks most likely. As I mentioned before, Red Rock is one of my favorites and is located on Water Street. Trinity and The Harp are two other bars on Water Street that come to mind. Lucille's is on 3rd Street and I would suggest going there on the weekend. There's also a couple of cool German bars on the street that serve good German beer in boots and great German food... Old German Beer Hall and the Milwaukee Brat House. Don't suggest going to North Avenue either. It's about a 15 minute cab ride from Water/3rd Street and is definitely another college area as it's just a few blocks from the UWM campus. This is where Cush was before it burned down. There aren't any bars I can really suggest going to on North Avenue. I suggest you stick to the Water Street/3rd Street area. Both Brady Street and Milwaukee Street are within walking distance (or a short cab ride).
  4. Hate to break it to you Thundercat, but Cush burned down in a fire a few years ago. Wasn't downtown or that great anyway. The Piano Bar you're likely talking about is Lucille's and that can be a fun time. There's a fairly new bar downtown called Red Rock, it's a country bar and a really great time. Might be more to your liking. I strongly suggest you do the Lakefront Brewery Tour instead of/ in addition to the Miller Tour. Lakefront makes some great beer and the old barrel that Bernie Brewer used to slide into at County Stadium can be seen on the tour. Can't really recommend any hotels for you because I've never had to get one. I've heard great things about the Phister hotel, but I have a feeling it's a little pricey.
  5. Breakout: Fielder... I think he has a monster first half and would not be surprised at all if he's dealt at the deadline. He's in a contract year and came off a bad year by his standards. The NL Central is going to be very competitive this year and we'll need to restock our farm system after the trades we've made the past couple years. If we're able to get a decent first baseman in a trade for Prince we would by no means be out of the playoff race. Disappointment: Carlos Gomez... I know he hasn't done much in his career and I know not much is expected of him this year, but I fully expect him to be riding the bench by the second half.
  6. If Prince were to be traded, which I don't see happening, I say bring up Gamel and throw him at first base to see how he does there. Otherwise, I think you have to include him in the September call-ups.
  7. I was at a game a few years ago when somebody ran onto the field at MP. He made it all the way around the bases only to have security waiting for him at home plate. He juked out the officer and dove onto home plate. I, along with the rest of MP, cheered when he "scored". I agree though, fines and jail time should be increased to prevent people from doing this. Besides the above example, most of these incidents are a nuisance and should be dealt with appropriately.
  8. I had no idea Tim was blind until reading it on this thread. I've always enjoyed listening to his post game, I think he has a fantastic voice for radio. More props to him. Thundercat - Are you able to watch any of the games down in Dallas?
  9. Alright, this is the last comment I will make on this thread about Favre.... He retired before he could be forced out of the organization! He expected that we'd just let him back after we had already moved on with A-Rodg. He's as egotistical as they come. Instead of playing a second season with the Jets he retired (again) just so he could sign with the Vikings and stick it to the Packers. How many off-seasons has this been now that he's "contemplated" retirement? If I count right, at least the past 4. Hate to break it to you Judas, you're not going to win another Super Bowl. You've proven that you just can't perform in the clutch.
  10. I DESPISE Brett Favre. I am a die hard, loyal Packers fan. Not one of those who still cheer for him even though he plays for the Vikings.
  11. On second thought, the most rare thing I've ever seen in person was when the Crew scored 10 runs in one inning back on the final game of the 2001 season. They beat the eventual World Series champs, the D-Backs. Don't know how rare that is but I can't imagine it happens that often.
  12. Just glancing through the post so far and I haven't seen anyone mention the 4 HR game by Shawn Green of the Dodgers in Miller Park back in 2002. I wasn't there but there must have been someone at this game on this forum. This isn't really that rare but I was at the game back in County Stadium when McGwire hit the top of the fence to just miss a HR in his record breaking year. Almost saw history that day. I'm pretty sure the entire stadium was hoping it would be ruled a HR. Also, I gave up my ticket to the final game back in 2008 when CC pitched a complete game to put the Brewers in the playoffs. I gave my friend the ticket because I wanted to stay home to watch the Packers game. I consider a much bigger Packers fan than Brewers but that was one of the stupidest things I've ever done. Doesn't help that the Pack lost that game to the Buccaneers too.
  13. The more I see Gomez the more I like him. His OBP is far too low for a guy who would ideally hit leadoff or in the two-hole but he seems to have a knack for coming up with hits in big situations. Do you guys see him as the future in CF?
  14. Are you referring to the offense's output being reversed, or simply the order in which they played the 2 teams? The output is correct. I wouldn't fault them much for flipping the order.I was talking about the order of the games. And, I did say it was a small error.
  15. What bad could you possibly have to say about Brian and Bill? From what I hear they are one of the better TV teams in the league. I just don't understand how you guys can stand listening to Davey.
