  1. This is much better than expected. Axford + KRod = 9mil for the 2 most important innings. Though I have always doubted prince coming back this may leave the door open to trading KRod, then resigning Fielder to a 6yr 120M deal.
  2. Does anyone know which players went the previous year? Considering their proximity to the majors, Im kind of suprised Peralta went instead of Rivas
  3. I understand your point of view but the brewers are going for it this year. Also there are plenty of decent closers on the market right now so i dont think the return would be that impressive.
  4. Considering the majority of the Brewer's pitchers know how to swing the bat, there is a good chance that the pitcher bats 8th and Gomez. In the 2hole I would go with Hart and Luccroy batting 6th.
  5. what do the reds think
  6. There is always the option of staying in house: Cruz would be good on D, tryout Ferris at SS, or resign counsell. These options would be cheap. Financial flexibility at the deadline in case of injuries is a must.
  7. Maybe even three times. Assuming the brewers extend either marcum or greinke and arent in the playoff race at the 2012 trade deadline, they will easily be able to trade the other one for a decent bounty
  8. if i remember correctly from last years scouting reports, there is no reason why Dickerson cant blossom into Cain
  9. I can't say I love including Odorizzi, Cain, Escobar, and Jeffress all in one deal. I would be much happier if either Odorizzi or Cain were excluded. However, none of those prospects are going to be way above average (e.i. Braun, Gallardo, or Fielder types).
  10. i dont really trust Grienke, there is a chance that he may not recover
  11. This isn’t particularly the logic that I want my team’s general manager using every year but…. The bullpen is above average, cheap, and improving. Except for first base, it is highly unlikely that Melvin will be shopping for new position players in the next 3 years. They have a large amount of their cap room available this year and for the following years. We desperately need starting pitchers for the next 2 years and have the money to spend now; so why not fill our only need with the best pitcher available. In addition, there are approximately5 better free agent pitchers than Pavano that may be available in 2012, all of which may require more $$$/yr.
  12. I like this trade if the Brewers are able to extend both Weeks and Marcum. Let Fielder hit FA for 2 draft picks and move Gamel to 1st. Yo, Marcum, Wolf, ______, and Narveson may just be good enough to contend in the central with a plus offense and bullpen. I would prefer a low money deal going to Kevin Correia
  13. Assuming Covey is signed, this is how i rank my starting pitchers (as of 08/9) 1a) Odorizzi 1b) Heckathorn 3) Covey 4) Scarpetta 5) Peralta 6) Rivas 7) Rogers 8) Lasker 9) Howell 10) Butler
  14. I cant handle both Parra and Narveson in the same rotation. Let Parra, Narveson, Rivas, and Butler fight for the 5th spot. For the Brewers to be competitive they need to bring in 2 pitcher as upgrades. Hopefully Fielder can be exchanged for one and sign a guy like Vazquez as a stop gap until Rivas, Scarpetta, Peralta, Heckathorn, Odorizzi are ready to produce.
  15. Good news! I was dreading the worst, an injury
