  1. As of a few days ago, some of their fans were convinced that they still were.Once the lead got past 6 games, they no longer did. Because they still have six games left with the Brewers anything 6 or below and they can force a tie just by winning all of their games.
  2. I feel your pain. I live in Iowa, and due to the weird MLB market rules, I get to see 95% of the Brewers games here (Iowa is considered in market for six different teams). However, because one of the other games is Cubs vs. Cardinals, two of the other in-market teams, I'm out of luck today. I would love to watch Fox and see their advertisements, but I won't be able to.
  3. Whenever we go up to Milwaukee for a game, we usually stay at the Residence Inn in Brookfield. It's a little pricey, but the comfort and the ease of access can't be beat. Plus you get a refrigerator for the beer you WILL buy after any of the brewery tours that you do.
  4. The Brewers are playing, the IndyCar race is starting, and the Gold Cup final, USA vs. Mexico is about to start. How good am I at watching three things at once? I hate to say it, but with the lead, it'll probably be the Brewers who get relegated to rare check-in status.
  5. Yeah, swinging at a pitch way outside the strike zone and hitting a soft liner about 150 feet is not getting hot. See, I've got to disagree with this. At least for that at-bat, it looked like Casey knew what he was looking for, and when it came, it was just a little further outside than what he had expected. In general, I don't know. There was a reason he was available on waivers. I'm willing to at least wait it out though. Anyone remember those half and half JJ Hardy seasons?
  6. Well, that's a start. How hard did you have to hit that to make it go out there?
  7. I thought that Braun shot was a double in the gap. I just laughed when I saw Fielder get hit, he didn't move at all.
  8. I don't follow the draft enough to know where to look for this, but can someone tell me all the times the Brewers have picked #5 in the draft? I know Braun was picked there, as was Jenkins, but were there any others? Also, what kind of value are you looking for there? I can't imagine a multi-All Star like Jenkins would be a disappointment with that pick, although you would love to always choose someone like Braun.
  9. I think Manny thought it was gone, the way he trotted out of the box.
  10. One thing I have heard, and this is sort of similar, though in a backwards way, is that position players really prefer a pitcher who is going to keep the game moving, rather than slowing it down. From what I understand, the human rain delays always get more errors committed behind them, because players just aren't quite as sharp and ready to make plays. Maybe that translates to the plate as well. If you're going to be lethargic in getting the ball up to the plate, the rest of the team follows suit.
  11. Weeks really looks on his game this year. I'm wondering if he realizes how many people are saying that it's put up or shut up time for him, but despite the average, he seems locked in on the ball and is only a couple balls landing from being a very nice top of the order hitter.
  12. I agree that we needed Weeks' speed on that one. He was safe on that entirely because Theriot knew he had to hurry it to the plate, and thus threw it off-balance. Great game for him, I really hope this is his year. If he keeps up this run scoring rate, he'll cement himself in the lead-off spot. On another note, according to ESPN, Rickie plays a pretty good second base. I know his penchant for both the spectacular and the boneheaded, has he really improved to above average with the glove?
  13. That's because he is. A lot of those ad boards are green screens. Take a look at it next time you go to Miller Park. Nobody would allow that kind of ad directly in line with the pitcher's eye.
  14. Braun makes an out and still runs the pitcher. To be fair, he ripped the ball, just right at Teahen at 3rd base. After seeing the HR given up to Dunn and another ball pounded, the Canadian manager had seen enough.
  15. Yes, but they would be the sixth team in that division, same as they are in the Central. As it is now, they play the Phillies as often as the Brewers play the Twins, and the Twins are in the other league.
  16. Speaking of such things, I realize why the leagues are split into 16 and 14, but why are the Pirates in the Central? Is it because otherwise, the Reds would be the only team in the division in the Eastern Time Zone? To me, they would seem to fit better in the NL East than in the Central.
  17. So who's spot in the rotation is he taking? Bush or McClung? I sincerely hope that it isn't Parra, as I think he is part of the future for the Brewers.
  18. I'm going to be at Friday night's game with my family. My first game of the year, whoo hoo!
  19. MLB I hate Geography is not right I want to watch them play Iowa is not Brewers territory here Want Extra Innings
  20. I agree with Team Canada. Barry Zito is a #3 in our rotation, just like Jeff Suppan.
  21. I just want to add that I would love to get Suppan. I don't know that it's going to kill our payroll flexibility, because the kids won't be getting really expensive until after the deal ends, and in between that, some dollars are coming off the books (Jenkins, Mench). That's why I think the Brewers have the money to do this. I also wanted the 500th post on the thread.
  22. Like nsimps, I'm a member over at the BigSoccer boards, and I must admit that they have a number of features you could steal. The big one I like is there are three levels of membership. Free membership allows you to post and all the normal message board stuff, the lower level gives you priority server access for high traffic times, along with an ignore list, avatar, signature, bigger Private Message box, and so on. The highest level also eliminates all ads. I don't know how you'd work it with a smaller board like this, as those boards are HUGE. But hey, it's money in your pocket instead of EZBoard's. I just hope you wouldn't replicate the server issues they've been having over there lately. Also, their merge threads function (I'm a mod at another of their network of sites) automatically sorts by time. It can be a little odd reading the parallel discussions together, but overall it works well.
  23. OK, what does Larry Haney do? It seems like his title would put him higher than Nichols or Jack Z in the hierarchy, yet I never hear his name. Who is he and what does he do?
  24. This ought to be fun. I'll be following this game on Gameday, while watching the Fire play on my computer, starting at 7. Let's go Brewers, and Go Fire!
