  1. Nobody expects us to win this series now, but a win tomorrow would shift momentum and pressure. This team has surprised us all season long. Maybe they’ve got one more trick up their sleeve. It ain’t over ‘til it’s over. Just win tomorrow.
  2. 7 of the 8 matchups feature a Central team vs. a non-Central team. I’m very interested to see how these go. If the Central teams do well, then perhaps it suggests that the Brewers’ 2020 struggles were at least due in part to having faced stiffer competition than teams from the East or West. Conversely, if the Central teams get dominated, then maybe the Brewers would have fared even worse if they had to play a regular 162-game season with a more balanced schedule. Obviously, 3-game series aren’t the best way to judge one division vs. another, but in a season with no inter-divisional games until the postseason, they might be our only glimpse at the relative strength of each division.
  3. This is definitely interesting (and somewhat depressing), but there are some guys that aren't on here that would make this list slightly less depressing. For example, guys like Anderson, Lyles, Shaw, Thames, Miley, Villar, Barnes, Williams, Santana, Phillips, Yamamoto... all have negative 2020 WARs. I do get the point you're making though, I just think it's worth mentioning that a lot of the guys the Brewers let go or traded (some of whom several posters were very upset with losing) have been duds for their new teams.
  4. Last night was tough, but here's hoping for a good start tonight. Go Brewers!
  5. Chacin third time through the order makes me nervous. Come on Jhoulys!
  6. In 2017 the Brewers won 86 games. A year later, not a single one of their top 5 pitchers in IP or GS makes the NLDS roster, yet they improve by 10 wins, win the division, and have the best record in the NL. Amazing. Go Brewers.
  7. I remember feeling so excited that the Brewers finally won a division in 2011, only to be knocked out by a divisional opponent a couple of weeks later. I'm thankful that no matter what happens, the 2018 Brewers will have advanced further than any team in the NL Central. It might not seem like much, but I'm pretty sure this is the only year in team history that that has happened.
  8. I'll be rooting for the Rockies. Sure they could win the game and knock the Brewers out in the next round, but I'd much rather face them than a (in my opinion) much better Cubs team looking to exact revenge (not to mention somewhat negating the Brewers' home field advantage). I wouldn't be surprised to see the Brewers win or lose to either team, but I'd much rather take my chances with Colorado.
  9. The first few innings are going to be huge. I could see either team using their "B Team" relievers if they are faced with an early deficit, saving the "A Team" for a potential elimination game the next day. Here's to hoping the Brewers can figure out Quintana!
  10. I think the Cardinals are cooked. Part of me almost feels as though they'll actually play better tomorrow if they have nothing to play for (and no pressure), as crazy as that might sound. At this point I'm hoping the Dodgers and Rockies finish the season tied so that there will be a game 163 between those two teams. This way, the Brewers will not be at a disadvantage if they lose a game 163 to CHC, or they will be at an advantage if the Cubs win the division without a game 163 needed to be played. I'm still holding out hope for the division though, where none of these scenarios would matter to the Brewers!
  11. On August 5th the Phillies were percentage points ahead of the Brewers in the standings and were leading the NL East by a game and a half. Since then, they've dropped nine series in a row (and split one) and the Brewers have gained 7 games on them. Not really sure what happened to Philadelphia, but it's going to take an incredible run for them to even have a shot at the postseason.
  12. The Marlins just took 2 out of 3 games against the Dodgers in LA, including beating Kershaw last night. Even though the Brewers' winning streak has come against bad teams, these wins shouldn't be taken for granted! Go Brewers!!
