  1. Wiemer suddenly with a similar slash line and overall stat line to Joe Gray Jr.
  2. Not surprised to see Gute lean into MLF’s system after a 13-3 year 1. The picks went against the grain, but that is no guaranty it’s wrong. The Patriots do this too. Draft is a bit overvalued at this point anyways. Plenty of avenues to player acquisition and development. Again, the Patriots prove this. Packers have been more creative in this space lately. Fun to see everyone so worked up though.
  3. Here we go with this crap
  4. I read something predraft in the new York media about the shoulder injury and they indicated that he was someone the giants may pick at 6 or 17. I don't think a guy as talented as him was going to last much longer. I don't mind the Packers rolling the dice there at all, the chance to score a blue chip defensive player for the remaining Rodgers years was too good to pass up, especially with the extra 1st. Gutes first draft has been acclaimed after last year and not just by the Wisconsin media. With that start I think he gets the benefit of the doubt. Ehh....that right there sours me on Gary a bit. The team that drafted Daniel-inster Stephen A Smith's voice here whilst saying the name-Jones #6 overall, wanted to trade up and get Gary? The team that effectively traded OBJ, Landon Collins and Snacks Harrison AND Oliver Vernon to get back Daniel Jones, Kevin Zietler(who I love as I knew him and the family a bit when he was at Wisco), Jabril Peppers, and Dexter Lawrence. Now I'm the first to say we on this board who don't work for a scouting department are ignorant. But not THAT ignorant. Daniel Jones? I feel like saying Gary would have been available later is pure conjecture and likely not true, but the ONE guy I think everyone can agree was a massive, massive reach was Daniel Jones. So I now have TWO things I dislike about Rashan Gary. The Giants tried to trade up to 10 to take him, and he'll be wearing #52 so soon after Clay's gone. I'm obviously joking about these being serious....but also like 5 pct not joking. All Gettleman had to do was not do anything colossally stupid this off-season and he was firmly behind at least Gruden and Colbert who called the rest of the Steelers kids while praising Big Ben. He had a TON of ground to make up....and boy, like Usain Bolt coming down the stretch, he picked up steam and ran right by everyone. All starting with the mysterious decision to NOT franchise Collins and at least recoup something like the Hawks did with Clark or the Chiefs with Ford. I can sense you are having some fun but also half serious and I do get it. But Gettleman says Jones wasn’t making it to 17. They ended up with him but apparently Giants were not only ones high up on him. Idk if it’s smoke but why can it not be true? I figure it’s the Dolphins who then opted for a similar dude in Rosen or possible a trade up from the Broncos. In any case, time will tell. I admire any team for getting their guy, within reason of course.
  5. This is how I feel about the draft. I'm not angry as someone mentioned, just upset how it transpired. The first 5 picks look like they'll contribute this season. The RB maybe as well. The CB/LB picks I'll just assume as Special Teams help at best. I just said the value side in the draft wasn't there. If you take the trade value points it'd go something like this: Gary 1200-Even to -200 Savage 924- Even to -124 Jenkins 460- Even to -60 Sternberger 215- +50 to Even Kiki 31 +35 to Even -88 for 4th round loss. Riley Ridley went to the Bears after what would have been the Packers selection. He was a 3rd round type projection. All told thats -3 to -384 The equivalent of a late 2nd round pick to late 3rd round pick. Which is probably what the value you would have been looking at on trading down from 12 a few spots. Draft Grade C- I’d bet a years salary that Gute is quite convinced he got immense surplus value from his picks, at least compared to the above self-serving analysis.
  6. I’ll say it again. There are some people who are actively hunting reasons to not like Gary. Why? I wish I knew. Sometimes I think even they don’t know. But it will be these same people who take every opportunity to point out every little Gary flaw or missed assignment from here until eternity. It’ll be these folks who rush to label him a bust. It’s inevitable and maddening and quite frankly an intellectually dishonest and incompetent way to live life lol. But of course it’s just a football discussion, so live on detractors! I can acknowledge Gary is no sure thing but I saw a scouting service that compared him to Richard Seymour today. Sign me up for a chance at that!
  7. I think the major issue here is that a large portion of the fan base seems to assume that they know where Gary was valued by the general consensus, which is likely unfair or inaccurate. Mock drafts are often wrong. Reading 20 mock drafts online doesn't make their collective views a 'consensus'. Additionally, knowing the general consensus tells you nothing about the low man/high man on any given prospect. Savage’s cumulative rank may have been about 30 but if 3 GM’s had him in their personal top 10, it’s those GM’s you have to beat to the podium to land the guy.
  8. It’s pretty clear the Sixers have some talented defenders but their team defense is not looking strong against a wise Raptors attack.
  9. “Every scout around”, Homer? C’mon, be fair with your analysis. It was a mixed bag on Gary no doubt but he had plenty of fans including his coaches, the Big 10 voting committee and NFL scouts alike. He is more of a post-hype sleeper than “meh”. This also reminds me of when many were willing to give up on Clowney after 2 NFL seasons and now he is a game-wrecker. Also, what scout had Gary on their do not draft list? I hadn’t seen that. I get Gary was not a productive pick to some. Most everyone loved the AJ Hawk pick and were ultimately let down (Hawk was good for a while and I’ll die on that hill lol). Such is life.
  10. But you state that as fact when it’s pure conjecture or a semi-educated opinion at best. If Gute has him high, others very well may have too.
  11. People out here making it their mission to hate the Gary pick. So far none of the complaints I have heard stand up to my scrutiny or in any way make this an F. He has warts like most, it’s why maybe the most athletic guy in the draft went 12. I wish his agility numbers were better but he is clearly long, strong and fast. I like burly edge players.
  12. They usually hand out 1st Team All Big Ten honors to guys who “play well”. Idk.
  13. I’m pretty happy with the picks. Gary was academic all big 10 and 1st team all-big 10 last two years and people still rag on his smarts and production? Hmmmm Savage looks like a playmaker too. I’d like to see a slot receiver and more defense on day 2. So far, so good.
