1. OF Lewis Brinson 2. LHP Josh Hader -- Basically tied with Brinson for me. Love what I've seen at the big league level. 3. 2B Keston Hiura 4. RHP Luis Ortiz -- Almost a full year younger than everyone's new favorite Burnes. Workhorse potential. 5. 2B Isan Diaz -- Disappointing year, but still great tools. 6. OF Corey Ray -- See Diaz, Isan 7. OF Brett Phillips -- At worst a 4-tool player, just needs the hit tool to progress a bit. 8. 3B Lucas Erceg -- Much better since May, seems to be adjusting. 9. RHP Brandon Woodruff 10. RHP Corbin Burnes -- Hard to put him this low, just prefer the ceiling of the players ahead on the list. 11. IF Mauricio Dubon -- At worst, likely a good utility man. At best, could be an answer at 2B. 12. OF Trent Clark -- Needs to make more contact, but love the walk rate, speed, and improving power output. 13. RHP Freddy Peralta 14. OF Monte Harrison -- Have a gut feeling this will look low soon enough. Freak athlete starting to put it together (stay healthy!) 15. OF Tristen Lutz 16. C Mario Feliciano -- My favorite catcher in the system. Holding his own as an 18 year old in A ball. 17. RHP Cody Ponce 18. IF Jake Gatewood -- Has come back to earth a bit, still strikes out too much, but the bat is interesting. 19. RHP Marcos Diplan 20. RHP Phil Bickford -- Looking forward to seeing him in box scores again. 21. LHP Kodi Medeiros -- I'm becoming more of a believer. 22. RHP Trey Supak 23. RHP Jordan Yamamoto 24. OF Demi Orimoloye 25. C/1B K.J. Harrison -- Would be great if he can make it at catcher. Bat seems legit. 5 that were hard to keep off: 26. RHP Josh Pennington 27. RHP Caden Lemons 28. RHP Bubba Derby -- Must admit, surprised with his upper-level success this year. Maybe we have something. 29. OF Troy Stokes -- 41 XBH, 21 SB in a really nice season for the 21 year old. 30. 1B Gabriel Garcia -- Love the OBP, and overall the offensive output for this teenager in rookie ball.

Haven't ordered or read his reports yet, but some still believe Hader won't stick as a SP. While I don't agree, it's not like it's a crazy opinion. That uncertainty can drop his stock a bit. That's why I like taking in all the information, it's all good stuff. Woodruff's ranking has been all over the map. That's what happens when someone comes out of the blue (somewhat) to post a monster season. Yep, agree. He's quite complimentary of Hader in the piece, summing him up as a potential #2 SP or nasty backend reliever, depending on the change up and command. He just likes the 5 above him more, which is a compliment to our system. And Woodruff is a complete pop-up prospect with a great fastball and average secondaries. He's all over the place in the various online rankings.

This is getting tougher to do, which is a good thing I suppose. It'll be interesting to see if we add more prospect talent this off-season that can permeate this top-25 group. 1. Lewis Brinson 2. What Fringe prospects are you watching and why?
Scooter102783 replied to CheezWizHed's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
Well now, you say to exclude the top 25, and then mentioned Diplan on your Wisconsin list I agree with Collymore, Houle, Salas, and Cooper. I check for them regularly. I'll add the following: David Denson, Wisconsin -- I just can't forget the raw power. Hopefully the light just goes on someday. George Iskenderian, Brevard -- There's potential in his bat, and if he can stick at 2B he could be interesting. Chris McFarland, Biloxi -- Dude has just steadily climbed and flashed some speed (72 career steals) and some contact skill. Victor Roache, Biloxi -- I don't know if he's "fringe" as a former first-rounder, but I can't ignore the power. Jacob Barnes, Colorado Springs -- His 2015 AFL stint sparked my interest; hopefully he can be an effective bullpen piece for us. -
I'm surprised anyone is advocating for Young. He's 30. He has a career .642 OPS (.610 in '14, .464 in '15). And his ability to dabble at 2B may not be all that consequential for a team that very well could be rostering 5 infielders with 2B experience/chops in Gennett, Walsh, Villar, Rivera, and Hill. I think we have that position covered. Of the 3 candidates left, I guess I'd go Nieuwenhuis...he's younger than EY, and was a 1+ win player as recently as '14. Or, again, maybe only keep 4 true outfielders.

I tend to agree. If you keep Walsh, he has OF experience (86 games in the minors). I have no idea how good he is out there, but he gives you that 5th OF if needed during a game. Then your lineup/bench could be: C Lucroy 1B Carter 2B Gennett 3B Hill SS Villar LF Braun CF Broxton RF Santana C Maldonaldo 1B/3B Middlebrooks UTIL Rivera 2B/OF Walsh OF Flores
