  1. Mets and Angels have won WS. Winning a WS is the whole point of all of this and is every teams goal. Its the reason every team plays and every front office tries to build a roster that first tries to compete, then contend, then try to have a playoff run, then ultimately win a ring. Baseball is a game of dealing with failure, While the recent success the Crew has had and the participation banners they have won is nice and all, it just highlights the fact that we still lose the last game of the season. Each year there is only 1 team that actually wins the season. The other 29 teams, its just degrees of failure.
  2. I actually think that is why they recently called up Black and why he played so much in the San Diego series. Think they were hoping he would catch fire and use that series as an advertisement to garner some trade interest with some teams. I would keep Bitonti and Boeve.
  3. I think the FO thought we have 16 games in 17 days before the all-star break with another West Coast trip. We need someone to try and go 5-6 innings giving up 3 runs or less and maybe save the bullpen more consistently than we currently have. Take a chance to see if Keuchel can fill that bill. If not, you release him and hopefully some of the players that are hurt come back. Give more time to determine if Hall is going to be a reliever or a SP when he comes back. Trades for upgrades are not going to happen until the end of July with the amount of teams still in the wildcard hunt. Right now it is to much a sellers market. There are only a few teams whose season has not worked out they way they hoped and are "out of it". I can imagine they are probably asking for the moon in return for some of there assets. Need to give it some more time for other teams to decide they are not "in it". Otherwise, you will be overpaying in prospect capital for a short rental. The Brewers need to address the SP and probably need 2 more average to above average starters. This signing is not for this. It's just out of necessity to try and fill a short term hole until other opportunities develop. This is my take and what I think.
  4. Good game. Good series win and homestand. Hope Contreras is okay. On to LA.
  5. Think I would move Chourio up the lineup and take Frelick spot in the lineup card. Move Sal to the number 9 hole platoon with Perkins until Mitchell gets back next week. I would also try to sandwich Hoskins between Yelich and William. Hoskins needs to start driving in runs. This is the lineup I would try for the next several games regardless of LHP or RHP going against us. Turang 4; Ortiz 5; Yelich 7; Hoskins 3; Contreras 2; Adames 6; Chourio 9; Sanchez DH; Frelick(Perkins) 8 Send down either Dunn or Monasterio to AAA. Get a backup catcher. The bench is weak and Dunn, Monasterio, Bauers with either Frelick/Perkins isn't working. To many players Brewers are trying to make work on the bench. If Dunn or Monasterio were not used as the pinch runner for Hoskins then they are just taking up space. At least with Bauers he can be used as a defensive replacement for Hoskins. Try and get a LH power bat to upgrade the DH/Outfield position. Could be Mitchell. But I'd rather have Mitchell plus that. Add 2 above average SP. Hopefully we do this early rather than later.
  6. Good series win. I would of been upset if we blew this game. Each of the games were tight but I thought we outplayed the Blue Jays the entire series. Day off and Cincy comes into town.
  7. Frustrating loss. I probably would of let Sanchez bat in the 8th but if I was thinking about PH I would of went with Bauers instead of Frelick in the 8th. I would had Yelich and Willy do the double steal with 1 out, after Hoskins flew out, rather than risk making the 3rd out at 3rd. I know it worked but I would of done it with 1 out. Assuming they would of been safe, you would of had at least 2 chances with runners at 2nd and 3rd. However, we had plenty of other chances throughout this game. Just not our night. Hopefully Ortiz isn't out for long. Get the series tomorrow.
  8. Brilliant start for Colin tonight and going deep to save the bullpen for game 2 with a debut on the mound.
  9. Think we need to add a SP and a LHB with pop in the outfield, that might be Mitchell when and if he gets back. Dunn Bauers Monosterio just doesn't work in my opinion and Murphy can't use them like I think he wants with PH for matchups so I think we need to upgrade the bench. More power with more XB potential. I would also like another player who can also catch. So when you have Sanchez and William in the line-up at the same time you have an option if you wanted to PR for either without losing the DH late in the game.
  10. For the 3 game series MIL 2 Runs 15 Hits 0 Errors Phil 7 Runs 18 Hits 0 Errors Mil 1 HR / PHIL 3 HR 4 of Phillies 7 runs came off the longball. 1 of Brewers 2 runs came off the longball This was a tough series but the Brewers were not outplayed. We just lost and were swept. Happens to every team. Difference to me in the series was us giving up the longball and Philly not getting and error on defence. We will play them again in September and we will play them in October. Plenty of time to turn the tables on them.
  11. Have to put on our hitting shoes today. Score first and often.
  12. Didn't get the breaks tonight but sometimes against good teams you have to make your own breaks. Have to try and salvage the last game of the series. Think that would be a huge boost to the team.
  13. Good ballgame. Breaks just didn't go our way. Phillies with a 2 out rally to plate 2. Brewers have had their fair share of those. They hit a solo shot. We hit a solo shot. Missed opportunity with bases loaded and nobody out. Think we get them in game 2.
  14. Nice win and a good homestand. Freddy didn't have it but he kept us in the game. Bullpen solid as normal. Nice knock by Jackson and running out the infield single. On to Philly.
  15. Nice win. Got some breaks but that is the way it goes sometimes. Great job by the bullpen to hold them off to allow the offense to chip away. Thought Jackson had a good game in RF. Not only the diving catch but is routes to fly balls and getting set up to return the throw into the infield. Looks like he is getting more comfortable out there. Gravy game on Sunday. Hope we can sweep them.
  16. A tale of two games this one. Guaranteed a winning home stand. Now just take 1 of the next 2 to win the series.
  17. Have to take care of business this weekend against the White Sox. End the homestand on a high note before heading back onto the road.
  18. Good team win. Nice outing from Rea. Good to see that he received a nice hand when he came out of the game. I thought he was one of the unsung heroes from last season and he is doing it again this season. Gives the team a chance to win 9 times out of 10. That's all you can ask for. Nice baserunning today. Speed is a beautiful thing to see. Hard to defend against and doesn't go into a slump. Think I would of given Jackson a shot instead of going with Miller, especially if you weren't thinking of sacrificing the runners over in the 8th. Just had a gut feeling that Jackson would have come up with a hit to drive in a run but Sanchez answered the call to put the team ahead. Have to take care of business this weekend against the White Sox.
  19. Put ourselves in a position to win the series today. Let's take it and go 10 games above .500.
  20. We have this one tonight. Imanga is due for a bad game.
  21. Disappointing loss. Hopefully Megill gets healthy soon. We will take game 3. Shoto due to be hit,
  22. Good win. Gasser pitch an excellent ballgame. Jackson with a couple of nice solid hits and driving in a run. Adames clutch HR. Let's get at least one more to to guarantee a split.
  23. Tough loss. 4-5 on road trip is not that bad considering dropping the 1st two series of this road trip. Thought Myers pitched well. Made a couple of mistakes in the 4th which cost him a run. Wished he could of gone 5 though. Brewers just loss this game and the Red Sox won it. It was a good game. They are paid to play also and the Crew came out on the short end. Won the series. That's all that matters. Hopefully we can at least split the series with the Cubs.
  24. Good win to take the series and stop a losing series streak on the road. Gravy game on Sunday.
  25. Frustrating series. The only positive thing about this series is that I can think is with Gasser going 6 and Freddy going 7 coupled with the day off today sorta resets the bullpen for the Red Sox series and going forward. I agree with some of the others that I would of given Turang, at least, a start in one of these games. I know he doesn't hit LHP well but I would think with his adjustments this season he be given a longer leash to see. In my opinion is splits against lefties is still a small sample size this year. As a team we aren't really lighting the world on fire against lefties this year so I'm not sure we have the roster to utilize platoons to their full potential. Need to play the best 9, regardless of Right/Lefty handiness 3 out of 4 days. Below doesn't take into account yesterday's loss.
