  1. Let's examine how the victories came about, and don't forget to watch Cooper Pratt in the Futures Game on MLB Network at 3:00 Central today! Go Coop!! Transactions: Milwaukee Brewers optioned SS Vinny Capra to Nashville Sounds. Nashville Sounds placed SS Freddy Zamora on the 7-day injured list retroactive to July 11, 2024. Biloxi Shuckers sent RHP Sam Gardner on a rehab assignment to ACL Brewers. Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Nashville 5, Iowa (Cubs) 2 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Best I-Cubs, Extend Win Streak to Five - Carlos Rodriguez fans seven, Tyler Black scores twice in 5-2 triumph The Nashville "X" feed features a variety of highlights from offensive, defensive, and pitching standpoints. You'll need to open a new browser tab to take this discussion in, and we know that in terms of tone or excitement, Tyler Black isn't the most scintillating interviewee, but it's a good chat as he begins his Ben Zobrist-ish nomadic defensive journey (the Brewers, or a future trade partner, can hope there is some Zobrist forthcoming). Go to the 21:15 minute mark for the Black interview — Black singled twice, walked, scored twice, and stole a base out of the leadoff spot in this game. Yeah, that'll do... Top of the 7th, Sounds nursing a 3-2 lead. A Cubs single and two walks issued by Blake Holub (one on a successful ABS challenge) loads the bases with two outs. It was the only batter Harold Chirino faced all night, but the subsequent 5-3 grounder he induced stranded the three runners and was the biggest play of the game. June 2022 indy ball signing RH reliever Ryan Middendorf seems as though he might be older, but he's only 26, and he has firmly established himself as the Nashville primary closer at this point. The Carlos Rodriguez pitching line was fine, he's not tracking to wow us often. Not saying it was a long-term move of Matt Arnold genius by any means, but the Brewers are 3-0 in Dallas Keuchel's starts after Keuchel took Rodriguez' spot (0-3) in the rotation. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 11, Chattanooga (Reds) 0 Box Score and Game Log Misiorowski Strikes out 10, Martin Smashes Grand Slam in Dominant Shuckers Win - Complete team effort earns 11-0, shutout win over Lookouts We didn't open the report with a Jacob Misiorowski intro paragraph, but we're well aware we could have - There's Paul Skenes, and then there's Paul Skenes. He's singular. There isn't even a fair comparison to say, "poor man's Paul Skenes". So, don't. Let Jacob be Jacob. This is fun, though, no? Shuckers played a near-perfect game with red-hot Eric Brown, Jr. on the bench alongside Adam Hall, the Bermuda native and 2017 Orioles 2nd round pick. Hall has had a nice 16-game sample upon signing with the Crew, and yes, the island residents do follow the exploits of Hall nightly, via press clippings I see. The Brewers also have done well with the even-smaller five-game Connor Scott sample, he of the 2018 13th overall pick status (Marlins). Just one of several highlight posts on the team's "X" feed: This Reds' AA club is just rough, now 24-61, we know that isn't an indicator of individual prospect progress or overall system strength, but yikes. It's a bit of a hidden gem on our website, but the nightly "as-it-happens" thread is such a valuable read even after the night is over. Contributions and insights are coming in from many. If you don't already make it part of your Brewers prospect-following routine, you may wish to add it to your Link Report-viewing regimen. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Wisconsin 6, West Michigan (Tigers) 0 Box Score and Game Log Four Rattlers Combine on Shutout of West Michigan - Lara and Adams homer for Wisconsin in team’s fifth straight win First of all, those Faux-back uniforms are sweet. It can't be a negligible cost to have them (and all the other team uniform identities) produced, fitted, etc. Same goes for the other affiliates, but the T-Rats really shine in this regard. Up next, as you just read in the game summary, is this year's iteration of Star Wars night. Two auctions going on now! The "X" timeline is a creative joy - it all feeds off of this: In addition to the video timeline, the game story is excellent, the Postgame Podcast is a must-listen (if nothing less than for the Chris Mehring / Kyle Lobner enthusiasm for reliever Yerlin Rodriguez' 100 MPH heat). Box score contributions throughout, and the one player who failed to reach base, RF Eduarqui Fernandez, added an outfield assist. No matter how you immerse yourself in this contest, nothing but good vibes for this remarkable 2024 Rattlers squad. Plus, Appleton fans get Devin Williams Saturday evening. Final: ACL Diamondbacks 12, ACL Brewers 8, ten inningsBox Score and Game Log Weather: 113 degrees, Partly Cloudy. Wind: 6 mph, Out To CF. First pitch: 6:00 PM. T: 3:30. Oh, and on top of that weather situation, look, the young men and their coaches, trainers, etc. have their usual Saturday day game today. So yeah, a high-scoring extra-inning affair is not what the hydration systems were hoping for Friday night. I would love to see Baseball America, or another outlet do a feature story on what goes into preparing for and playing in these desert games. We're aware the humidity is brutal for the teams in the Florida Complex League as well. Dry heat in Arizona, 113 is still 113. Both catchers, including 20-year-old Germany native Yannic Walther of the Brewers, played the whole game. Heck, the D-Backs catcher had four hits, a home run shy of a cycle. The A-Crew rallied for four runs in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game at 6-6, with third baseman Eric Bitonti smoking a two-run shot to center field, his 7th bomb of the season, within the frame. It was one of four hits in the game for the 18-year-old LH beast of a slugger, a triple shy of a cycle of his own. If we don't see a Cooper Pratt post-Futures Game bump to Wisconsin, with Bitonti becoming a Mudcat, Eric may lose his mind. Tom Flanagan hinted that Bitonti was getting "anxious" on a recent visit to the Milwaukee TV booth. As noted well above, reliever Sam Gardner began his rehab, and did so with a clean outing, The box score will reveal an outstanding bullpen stint for 18-year-old Mexico native Eric Prado, but a rough outing for Venezuelan southpaw Jose Meneses. Final: DSL Brewers #1 Squad 5, DSL Braves 1Box Score and Game Log Final: DSL Guardians Mendoza 7, DSL Brewers #2 Squad 5Box Score and Game Log For the sake of my time this AM (and yours), I am referring you to a series of six posts within that afore-mentioned forum discussion thread for today's Dominican Summer League updates. Much info within. We are inching closer to Monday thru Thursday off for each of the full-season teams. However, the rookie leaguers will see action on each of those days, so it will be condensed reports on the youngest of the farmhands starting with Monday's games. Considering I regularly report on Friday and Saturday games, I am consulting with my agent to determine when my All-Star break is scheduled for, Enjoy your eight, count 'em, eight games today, everyone! 2. Nashville Sounds placed SS Freddy Zamora on the 7-day injured list retroactive to July 11, 2024. Milwaukee Brewers optioned SS Vinny Capra to Nashville Sounds. Convenient timing for the infield mix, though Zamora could be back while, depending on the nature of his injury, missing minimal time with this week's All-Star break.

  10. Unfortunately we had to hide the post that listed all 30 players. Respect to their subscription service.
  11. One note on Hunter Pence is that the “Draft-and-Follow” system was in full swing at that time, so teams could follow players through the following season as long as it was a non-four year college, and the signing was prior to that following draft. The year before, the Brewers were able to grab LHP Manny Parra in such a manner. As soon as Pence committed (and set foot and attended) UT-Arlington that fall, however, the chance was gone. I remember how closely we monitored that situation, best we could pre-Twitter and all.
  12. Biloxi Press Release: 3B/1B MIKE BOEVE PLACED ON 7-DAY INJURED LIST BILOXI, MS – The Biloxi Shuckers and Milwaukee Brewers have announced that 3B/1B Mike Boeve has been placed on the 7-Day Inured List retroactive to July 6, 2024. The Shuckers active roster stands at 27 players. Over 53 games with the Shuckers, Boeve ranks eighth in the Southern League in average (.286) and has 15 extra-base hits.

Another thing to remember, despite what the internet wants you to think, umpires are better at calling balls and strikes than they have ever been!"

Via the Journal Sentinel Podcast: "Brewers reporter Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe look back at a shaky west-coast trip to Colorado and Los Angeles, which nonetheless ended with a salvageable 3-4 record. But how was Brice Turang not elected to the National League all-star team? The guys have thoughts on player balloting and the recent hiccups by a tired bullpen, plus the full-fledged resurgence of all-star starter Christian Yelich and the work by new pitchers Aaron Civale and Dallas Keuchel. In Three Up, Three Down, it's yet ANOTHER grand slam, a controversial bunt play, a 55-pitch inning and Bryan Hudson's recent struggles. Remembrew When looks back at another unflattering chapter Brewers-Dodgers history, and Curt's Take of the Week is back talking about a Dodger Stadium staple. Then, JR sits down with relief pitcher Trevor Megill, enjoying a breakout season at the back end of the Brewers rotation. They discuss the role water polo and rowing played in his life story, his scary injuries this year and how he arrived at a comfortable place in his career."
  16. We thank Dr. Seuss for his title contribution for us today. What a cool way to head into a two-day break for the four full-season affiliates, well-earned after playing twelve consecutive days, As the farmhands who played before MiLB enacted the "every Monday off" schedule in 2022 read that prior sentence and laugh with memories of their own torturous schedules, all we can say is, thank goodness things are better now. Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Let's see what an unbeaten Saturday looks like! Transactions: Milwaukee Brewers sent RHP Joe Ross on a rehab assignment to Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. OF Connor Scott assigned to Biloxi Shuckers from ACL Brewers. Carolina Mudcats activated RHP Josh Timmerman from the 7-day injured list. ACL Brewers activated LHP Caden Vire from the 7-day injured list. ACL Brewers released RHP Dencer Geraldo. I was able to add background to this list of transactions in our forum thread via this post. Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Nashville 4, Memphis (Cardinals) 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Nashville Pitching Staff Dominates Memphis in Series Finale - Brewer Hicklen hit a two-run home run in the 4-1 victory So even after a relatively low-scoring affair, the Sounds staff provides yet another well-crafted chock-full report. Whether myself or my fellow Link Reporters, we will look to mention items beyond the report. We don't wish to be repetitive, so be sure to click above. Not only that, but it also saves a few keystrokes from these hands. Then, the Sounds give us as many as five video highlights so we can see what all the words were about? Sign us up! Ever thought about becoming a Link Reporter and backing up our staff once in a while? See, it's not hard at all! He's fun - Tyler Black, playing first base, doubled as you just watched at the prior link, singled, and was hit by a pitch. Four others in the lineup reached base twice, thus indicating why these numbers were relevant, though we don't want to dampen a victory: Team RISP: 1-for-10. Team LOB: 11. RHP's Evan McKendry and Garrett Stallings won't make big-league Brewers fans stand and take notice, but their efforts in this one are evidence of the necessary workings of any relatively successful AAA staff. They helped Manager Rick Sweet sleep better Saturday night heading into the mini-break. A bench for this game of Isaac Collins, Noah Campbell, Francisco Mejia and Owen Miller is pretty solid, another reason for Sweet to have some peace of mind. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 2, Mississippi (Braves) 1 Box Score and Game Log Misiorowski Sets Career-High with 6.1 Innings, Strikes Out 10, Shuckers Earn Sweep - Scott homers in first game in Brewers organization, Biloxi takes final game in Pearl From yesterday's report: I need to ask Javik Blake how the Biloxi production team (Javik himself?) is pulling it off. Not only do they quickly post highlights from road games, but it's with Javik's call. Awesome. I should have known - "I do put together all the highlights, including the road highlights. I just stitch them together between innings" As someone who is nearly 40 years into a career in IT and is now often run in circles by young 'uns within my department, I can fully appreciate Javik's technological proficiency. This is the 4th of the four Misiorowski videos Javik squeezed into the club's "X" timeline Saturday - click the link for the others Via @wiguy94 on our forum thread - "With tonight, Misiorowski has extended his streak to six starts with 2 BB or fewer and a BB% lower than 10%." Let the national buzz re-commence around Jacob. Meanwhile, third at-bat on the night, but we're still going to call this a "first impression" Things are starting to line up for this Biloxi roster in terms of depth as well - in order to effectively give three days' off for some, the bench was comprised of Carlos D. Rodriguez, catcher Darrien Miller, and an effective Adam Hall, not to mention the sidelined Mike Boeve. Kudos Nate Peterson and Will Childers, as the Misiorowski start, and Craig Yoho save will normally grab the bulk of the attention. No worries, Nate and Will, we see you! Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (Download Link) Final: Wisconsin 6, Beloit (Marlins) 5 Box Score and Game Log Lara Leads the Way to a 6-5 Win - Wisconsin outfielder goes 3-for-5 with homer and game-winning hit So, how was your Saturday night, Chris? You expect me to add more to this contest than all that? Impossible. Final: ACL Brewers 3, ACL Athletics 2Box Score and Game Log The A-Crew was down 1-0 at home heading to the bottom of the 8th, have you never ventured into an MiLB game log in its latest iteration view? This is what you'll see: Bottom 8th Single Luiyin Alastre singles on a line drive to left fielder Pedro Pineda. A-ATH 1, A-BRW 0 Single Eric Bitonti singles on a fly ball to center fielder Carlos Pacheco. Luiyin Alastre to 3rd. A-ATH 1, A-BRW 1 Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Brayan Restituyo replaces Jose Gonzalez. Strikeout Gery Holguin called out on strikes. 1 out Wild Pitch Wild pitch by pitcher Brayan Restituyo. Eric Bitonti scores. Johan Barrios to 3rd. A-ATH 1, A-BRW 2 Sac Fly Tyler Rodriguez out on a sacrifice fly to right fielder Reynaldo De La Paz. Johan Barrios scores. 2 outs A-ATH 1, A-BRW 3 Groundout Yannic Walther grounds out, third baseman Jamaliel Rosado Jr. to first baseman Luis Marinez. 3 outs The four Maryvale pitchers in the box all did good things, only one earned run crossed the Athletics' plate. You can make the case it was the best outing of the year for each of the three LHP's utilized - Bjorn Johnson, Caden Vire, and Jose Meneses. And never take for granted the Brewers signings of pitchers out of Mexico, the few targeted arms often shine pretty bright, and yet another southpaw, Jesus Broca, who received the rare mid-season bump up from the DSL, may be the latest. The last time all four pitchers used in a Maryvale game were lefties? Let's access the make-believe rolodex database in my brain and say, like, never? Postponed: DSL Cubs Red at DSL Brewers 1, rain Final: DSL Brewers #2 Squad 11, DSL Braves 10Box Score and Game Log Team Dos blew a five-run 10-5 lead in the 8th to set up top of the 9th heroics to re-grab the lead. Shortstop Jorge Quintana's first hit in five at-bats was a leadoff line drive single in that 9th frame. Two walks followed, before a shallow fly was the first out. Then, the best (at least the most unique) name in the system, Kegnnalex Seijas, plated the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly. Seriously though, this cat's first name is "Keg"? The 18-year-old Venezuelan catcher (a mid-game entry at DH in this one) is destined for Am-Fam Field. I mentioned this a couple of weeks into the season when the following became evident - Venezuelan OF Pedro Tovar (bats and throws LH) posted a .220/.333/.288 line, .621 OPS, nine steals in 12 attempts, as a just-turned 17-year-old last summer. Fast forward a year, and Tovar is blossoming just as the development team would hope. Tovar is building off his 2023 through 17 games, .349/.414/.540, .954 OPS. He was on-base five times in this game. Congrats to 17-year-old catcher Luis Corobo on his first pro tater, pulled over the left-field wall in the first inning, part of a two-hit, three-RBI day. Weather: 81 degrees, Rain. It was wet at the Braves' complex, but just a bit drier than at the Brewers' place for Team Uno. What's this, a Sunday off for all? Darn right! Enjoy yours, everyone! We'll next be reporting Tuesday AM on four rookie-level games that will take place on Monday, including a doubleheader for DSL Brewers Squad #1.
