  6. Here's a direct link to the brief discussion we had upon the July 1st, 2024 release of LHP Justin King from the Biloxi roster (King was snapped up four days later by the Miami Marlins). The posts include a classy and insightful entry from Justin's dad. King turned 27 last month, and after excelling (seriously, check out his linked MiLB page above), with the Marlins' AA team in the second half (as we noted multiple times within Link Reports), He was given an Arizona Fall League slot. King now has a nice additional reward. He's among the big league camp spring training invitees for Miami, awesome. Well, not for the Brewers, but for King and his family, absolutely!
  7. Thanks for all your Winter League efforts in '24-'25, @Ro Mueller! It's a tedious task, you've been killing it for us all!

  11. 12. 01/23/25 DSL Brewers 1 released SS Yohandy Cruz. 01/23/25 DSL Brewers 2 released RHP Elias Gonzalez. 01/23/25 DSL Brewers 2 released RHP Daiyiro Candelo. We do not have signing bonus info on these three players, all likely in the $10,000 pool of contract expenditures. Cruz only turned 17 years old last May and is a rare Brewers international signee to not get a second chance year in the system. The RH bat did knock a double and home run in his 58 plate appearances, so he'll always have that. Despite being listed as a shortstop on signing day (because that's the law), Cruz saw action in nine games at first base and four in left field. Gonzalez would have entered his age 21 season in 2025. He missed all of 2024 with an undisclosed injury, so his 15.1 inning 2023 sample is all that stands for now. He squeezed a lot of categories within however - 3 HR, 12 BB, 9 K, 4 HBP, 4 BK, 2 WP. His 1.304 WHIP seems impressive considering. Candelo only turned 18 years old three days after Christmas. Candelo, of Venezuela (Cruz and Gonzalez are Dominican natives) will not have any pro stats on his pages unless he finds another organization. He went from the 7-day to 60-day IL in June of last summer. Hoping that these players find their new baseball homes, should they pursue their careers.
  13. Though just 22 years old (23 in July), Eduardo Garcia is entering his 7th season in Milwaukee's system, meaning he'd have to play his way onto the 40-man roster prior to next fall (or agree to a minor league extension contract to forego free agency. Here's the translated text from the post below: Eduardo García, from "Duaca" Lara state, standing out in this final of the red birds. He signed with the Milwaukee Brewers at age 16 on October 10, 2018. He debuted with Cardenales de Lara in the 2023 season, having the opportunity to play in only three games. He returned this season but spent most of the games on the bench. In the regular season, Eduardo García hit a .407 batting average, 1.215 OPS, 2 home runs, 11 RBIs, 11 hits, 5 doubles in 17 games. In the Round Robin, he had 13 hits, 4 doubles, 2 home runs and 6 RBIs. In recent games he has shown his great skill with the glove in the SS. Yesterday with a home run he put the Lara Cardinals ahead on the scoreboard. Garcia became the youngest Venezuelan from Cardenales de Lara to hit a home run in the final since Robert Perez (Hedbert's dad) when he hit a home run at age 20 in the 1989-1990 final. Nine Cardenales de Lara players have hit a home run at 22 years old or younger. Although only two Venezuelan hitters and seven imported players had done so. Now the group is made up of three Venezuelan sluggers: Robert Perez, Fred Manrique and Eduardo Garcia.

  15. Tuesday 1/21: Via the "Barrel Banter Podcast": "We paid tribute to Uecker by giving our favorite quotes. The crazy impact that Dave Parker had (and didn't have) in his one year in Milwaukee. Also, will CC make the Hall of Fame? Should he? Who else are we checking on the ballot?" Via 97.3's "The Steve Czaban Show" (Hour Two): Paul Wagner joins the show to talk Bob Uecker, cold temps and much more! *** Wednesday 1/22: Via the Journal Sentinel Podcast: "Brewers reporter Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe discuss some favorite memories and crazy numbers from CC Sabathia's magical run in 2008, even some factoids fans may not already be aware of. Sabathia was named to the Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2025 on Tuesday, and his brief but unforgettable time with the Brewers surely played a role. One of the guys thinks the Brewers should seriously entertain retiring Sabathia's number (the other ... does not agree). Is the case a sound one?" Via 97.3's "The Steve Czaban Show" (Hour Three): Jeff Levering (from Brewers Fantasy Camp in Phoenix) Via the "Barrel Banter Podcast": "Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel joins to discuss CC's Hall of Fame candidacy and election, who the next Brewer in the Hall of Fame will be, whether Ryan Braun will receive HOF votes, and much more!" Locked on Brewers with Chuck Freimund - "It was the trade for CC Sabathia that got the Brewers into the playoffs for the first time in 26 years in 2008 and set the franchise on a course for some winning baseball after years and years of dread. We talk about the Hall of Famer and his impact with the Brewers. It was a bold move by the franchise who needs to make another bold move at third base and the name Alex Bregman is still out there." Via WTMJ: "In honor of CC Sabathia becoming a first-ballot hall of famer, re-live "The CC Sabathia Game." Game 162, September 28, 2008, as the Brewers clinched their first playoff spot in 26 seasons and Sabathia pitched a complete game with the legend Bob Uecker on the call." Via the "Brewers Babes" Podcast (NSFW, occasional language): "In this episode Erin and Lisa pay tribute to the legendary Bob Uecker and talk about the impact he had on their lives as baseball and Brewers fans. We also talk about the Dodgers spending spree and speculate on the impact on teams, players, fans and the league. We also look ahead to what we may be seeing in Spring Training." Via the "Brew Crew Review" Podcast: "Bob Uecker Tribute - Milwaukee Loses a Legend" Reviewing the Brew's" Cold Brew Podcast: "Dave Gasper and Matt Carroll share stories about the late, great Bob Uecker, who passed away last week at the age of 90 and talk about what he meant to Brewers fans everywhere."
  16. Just an exquisite discussion here in that the three broadcasters within dissect that particular aspect - "Bob behind the microphone" --
