  1. Prior to today's Hunter Morris deal with Pittsburgh (now detailed with the other 28 teams as well in the initial post in this thread), the prior "Last Deal With..." the Pirates was just to bolster the AAA staff last August: Pirates (08/07/14) -- Acquired RHP Jay Jackson in exchange for cash considerations
  2. Some of my best "being silly" TV teenage memories -- dancing to the Gong Show set with "Gene Gene the Dancing Machine", now gone at 82.
  3. Catching up from last month, it had been quite a while since the Brewers and Dodgers last dealt -- this trade has been replaced on our tracker -- Dodgers (07/31/09) -- Acquired RHP Claudio Vargas in exchange for C Vinny Rottino with this recent swap: Dodgers (12/18/14) -- Acquired LHP Jarret Martin and OF/IF Matt Long in exchange for C Shawn Zarraga *** Prior to the Yovani Gallardo deal, it also had been some time since the Brewers last made a deal with the Rangers -- in fact, there had only been a longer trade drought with nine organizations. Rangers (03/22/10) -- Brewers acquired INF Ray Olmedo in exchange for C Matt Treanor We have updated the first post in this thread to reflect this trade and the "Last Trade With..." all 29 other organizations.
  4. Donna Douglas, Elly May on 'Beverly Hillbillies,' dead at 81 Only Jethro remains... Max Baer Jr. On Donna Douglas: ‘She Was Elly May Until The Day She Died’
  5. Prior to the most recent acquisitions of Adam Lind and Kyle Wren -- Blue Jays (09/21/12) -- Acquired C Yorvit Torrealba cash in exchange for cash Braves (06/03/13) -- Acquired IF Juan Francisco in exchange for LHP Thomas Keeling Keeling was released by the Braves, and then subsequently released by his indy league team last August.
  6. Not so, this clip will help explain -- http://youtu.be/o0KjZ_OFaFQ
  7. I know this thread began as an honor to the 85+ crowd, but I was so disheartened to read about the loss of Welcome Back, Kotter's Marcia Strassman after a seven-year battle against breast cancer, at age 66. Time racing too quickly - many will remember M*A*S*H (first season), and the "Honey, I Shrunk..." movies. So pretty and sweet, goodbye to another childhood crush... My wife is aware and flattered that one of her immediate redeeming qualities to me upon meeting her as my future wife in '84 was her resemblance to Ms. Strassman (I married up ).
  8. Prior to today's acquisition of AAA RHP Jay Jackson, the Brewers most recent trade with Pittsburgh was this one: Pirates (12/12/11) -- Acquired RHP Jose Veras in exchange for 3B Casey McGehee
  9. Before the Gerardo Parra acquisition detailed in the initial post, this was the last trade with Arizona: Diamondbacks (07/19/09) -- Acquired INF Felipe Lopez in exchange for OF Cole Gillespie and RHP Roque Mercedes Gillespie, now 30 years old, has seen big league time as recently as this season with Seattle and Toronto in a classic 4A mode; Mercedes returned to the Brewers organization in 2011, but his career ended in independent ball later that season.
  10. Reds (08/09/10) -- Acquired OF Chris Dickerson in exchange for OF Jim Edmonds *** This has been replaced with today's acquisition of minor league OF Josh Fellhauer for cash considerations.
  11. Wow, that last trade with Oakland didn't last long -- As discussed here and here on our forums, RHP Rodolfo Fernandez of the Timber Rattlers goes to Oakland for International Signing Bonus Slot #57 ($339,000).
  12. Prior to today's deal of LHP Brad Mills to Oakland for cash considerations ($1 as it turns out with the unique opt-out circumstances), the last trade between the clubs involved two players now out of baseball, even though it was just completed a year ago March. Athletics (03/20/13) -- Acquired 3B Stephen Parker for RHP Darren Byrd (Complete running "Last Trade With..." list remains at the top of this thread...)
  13. Hoping it doesn't take this thread too off-topic, but: CNN Feature Article: One-third of babies born in the UK in 2013 are expected to live to 100, according to their Office of National Statistics. In the United States, the population has seen similar trends. Wow.
  14. Goodbye Ralph Waite of the Waltons (and much more).... Or should we say Goodnight, Daddy Wikipedia -- Ralph Waite was reluctant to audition for the part of John Walton because he didn't want to be tied to a long-running TV series, but his agent persuaded him by saying, "It will never sell. You do the pilot. You pick up a couple of bucks and then you go back to New York."
  15. Sid Caesar dies at 91, quite the biography here. He pre-dated my viewing timeline, but certainly deserves a mention here. Despite my initial pronouncement that this wasn't a death-watch thread, it has become a bit of one. I'm still glad that many were celebrated on this thread while still with us.
  16. Reuben Kincaid and the Professor, yikes, tough day. Via the Associated Press report -- “The Partridge Family,” which ran on ABC from September 1970 to March 1974, revolved around a widowed mother and her five children who form a band. Towering and rumpled, Mr. Madden played Reuben Kincaid, the agent who managed the band and regularly clashed with its impish preteen bassist, played by Danny Bonaduce. The series starred Shirley Jones, with her real-life son David Cassidy as the resident heartthrob. But it was Mr. Madden and the freckle-faced Mr. Bonaduce who were the reigning comic duo. “His relationship with Danny Bonaduce is what made the show work,” Ms. Jones said of Mr. Madden on Thursday, “this strange, mad little boy and the grown man who was even worse as a father figure.” Though Mr. Madden played a man bedeviled by the youngsters surrounding him, off camera he “loved kids,” Ms. Jones said. Mr. Bonaduce later wrote that during his troubled youth Mr. Madden served as his surrogate father.
  17. Inevitably, we knew we'd have to start saying goodbye to the folks in this thread. Goodbye, Professor.
  18. Yes, and now occasionally appears on "The Middle" as Frankie's (Patricia Heaton's) father.
  19. YouTube: The young lady does talk as though she's talking to a youngster, circle of life, I guess.... And of course, Mister Ed fan pages exist, here's a good one.
  20. This is not a death-watch thread. Simply acknowledging some of the TV favorites of my youth (and in subsequent repeats) who are still with us today -- I get a big kick that both Mr. and Mrs. Oleson of Little House on the Prairie (Richard Bull, Katherine McGregor) are still with us, 89 and 88, respectively. Guess Nellie and Willie weren't bad for longevity after all. Al Molinaro of Happy Days fame (don't forget Odd Couple) is 94. Wilbur!!! Mr. Ed's owner, Alan Young, is also 94. Sadly, we lost his TV wife, one of the most underrated TV hotties of all time, Connie Hines, in 2009 at age 78. The original People's Court justice, Judge Joseph Wapner, is 94. Yes, "Fish" is still alive, Barney Miller's Abe Vigoda, 92. Monty Hall of "Let's Make A Deal" is dealing at 92. Betty White is 91, or maybe you hadn't heard? She keeps such a low profile. Thank you, Norman Lear, TV genius. 91. Larry Storch (Agarn on F-Troop), is 90. My crush on "Wrangler Jane", Melody Patterson, continues -- she's only 64. Rose Marie of the Dick Van Dyke Show, who always looked older than she was (sorry, Rose), is 90. Mr. Dick Van Dyke himself is 88. Yes, spayed and neutered, Bob Barker is with us at 90. The Professor Lives! Russell Johnson of Gilligan's Island turned 89 last month. The beloved June Lockhart of "Lassie" and "Lost in Space" is 88. Robert Clary, Cpl. LeBeau on "Hogan's Heroes", is 87. Mrs. Garrett of the Facts of Life, Charlotte Rae, is 87 (don't forget Diff'rent Strokes). On a baseball note, the Charlotte Rays of the Florida State League were named after her (they are now the Stone Crabs). Ann B. Davis, everybody's favorite maid from the Brady Bunch, is 87. Bill Daily, with quite the daily double via Major Healy on "I Dream of Jeannie" and Howard Borden on "The Bob Newhart Show", is 86. Benson's Robert Guillaume is 86. Remember Soap? Peter Marshall of Hollywood Squares, who of course gave baseball his son, Pete LaCock, is 86. Jim Rockford, I mean James Garner, is 85, as is Ralph Waite (Waltons), Katherine Helmond (Soap, Who's the Boss?), and Orson Bean (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and countless game shows). Also 85? Adam West (Batman), Marion Ross (Mrs. C of Happy Days), and Dick Van Patten (Eight is Enough).
  21. Prior to today's Nori Aoki - Will Smith trade, the last trade between the clubs was not the Zack Greinke deal: Trade with Royals (03/23/11) -- Acquired OF Brett Carroll in exchange for cash (Complete running "Last Trade With..." list remains at the top of this thread...)
  22. Prior to today's trade of Burke Badenhop to Boston, this was the last trade bewteen the Red Sox and Brewers, over 15 years ago: 07/31/98 -- Brewers acquired RHP Joe Hudson in exchange for INF Eddy Diaz Hudson only appeared in one big league game for the Crew -- he allowed six runs, all earned, in 1/3 of an inning -- yikes! From a Brewers perspective, now it's the Marlins by far, who have had the longest trade drought with the Crew, as you'll be able to see as each club is tracked in the post at the top of this thread. Prior to today, the Red Sox had the 2nd longest gap.
  23. If you had the Marlins in the "long time, no deal" pool, you win!
  24. The majority of links are from the Baseball Cube, which includes both major and minor league numbers on the same page.
