"My expectations are very high and they are very firm. I have the faith that we can achieve it and that we are prepared to compete and obtain the 17th cup for the Escogido," said Estévez. The new scarlet foreman thanked God for the opportunity received, as well as the Board and Operations management for trusting him to lead the club. "This is a very big commitment that I assume with a lot of responsibility and character," he said. The 34-year-old strategist pointed out that, to achieve the championship, communication will be very important for all team members to point towards the direction of returning the Escogido towards excellence. "I'm a big believer in staying connected. Big teams that have championship culture are the ones that stay connected to engagement. To achieve great things you have to make sacrifices," he said. Estevez said that he is already talking with the Escogido players, both native and veteran, and that he will remain in constant communication with them. Estevez also explained that from day one he will work on the culture of the players and on the identification with the Escogido badge. "I am a faithful believer in unity. That's what brings passion to teams. I will let the players know that we have to show the passion we have for the uniform, to win the crown. I will instill in them the commitment and responsibility of representing this organization," he said. "This is going to create a healthy environment in the dressing room. If we have it, this will be transmitted to the pitch and we will give our best," he added. Bonetti and Rojas speak At the main table, Estevez was joined by José Miguel Bonetti Du-Breil and Fernando Armenteros, members of the Board of Directors of the Escogido Baseball Club, as well as Director of Operations Jaylon Pimentel and Operations Assistant Angel "Aroboy" Santana. General Manager Luis Rojas was via Zoom from New York City. Estévez's father, Don Víctor Estévez, his mother, Mrs. Lidia Cruz, his wife, Marcia Rodríguez and his daughter Mariel Estévez accompanied the helmsman in the presentation (their photos at the link above). "I am a faithful believer in what youth is. That dynamism, that hunger and that desire to win we have achieved with Estévez. We are very happy with him and the step we are taking is the new stage of what will be the Escogido, young and with a reformulated coaching staff, "said Bonetti Du-Breil before giving him an official shirt of the Escogido with the number 90. For his part, Rojas explained that Estevez stood out among the candidates interviewed by El Escogido by impressing with his knowledge of the game and the Dominican autumn-winter circuit. About Víctor Estévez He was born on September 8, 1988 in the city of Santo Domingo. He played professionally in the minor leagues for the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2007 to 2010, playing as an infielder. He is currently in his second year as the manager of the Carolina Mudcats, Class A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. With the Brewers organization he has 10 years of service, including managing the Brewers team in the Dominican Summer League from 2016 to 2021. As for fall-winter baseball, Estévez coached the Vaqueros de Montería of the Colombian Professional Baseball League in the 2021-22 tournament, guiding the team to the final series. In the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League, Estevez served as quality control coach for the Águilas Cibaeñas in the 2022-23 season. Prior to that, he was part of the Escogido family, serving as the Lions' first and infielder coach in 2020-21.

Just wanted to point out that as far as listing any 2023 drafted and non-drafted signings as official, we'll include those in our Link Reports and in this thread only when the Brewers formally announce them. On our Draft Forum, there is a thread that has kicked off for non-drafted signees, the first player has been listed but not officially by the team (likely physical pending).

100% non-scientific, non-guaranteed and not surprising, but the picks at 1, 5, 8 and 10 have Twitter bio’s indicating they are (or soon will be) Brewers.

Minor League Baseball has wised up in recent seasons and have allowed the full-season affiliates to share All-Star break time off with their MLB brethren, but for the rookies, limited action continues. The Dominican teams played Monday, and will again Tuesday and Thursday. The Maryvale Crew returns to action Thursday. Wednesday has all seven of the Brewers teams at rest, when we will also! It was a fun DSL day Monday, here we go! Speaking of killing it, much-less heralded (as in none), rookie RF Brian Sanchez doubled, singled and walked. In only 13 games, he's at .405/.536/.595 (1.131 OPS). Guessing we'll see his name in more starting lineups moving forward, the 6'3" LH bat was in the cleanup spot here. The go-ahead run scored on a sacrifice fly in the top of the extra inning, please utilize the game log link above to see how the 10th went as well as a rough four-run Tampa 8th to tie things up. Recently-turned 18-year-old RHP Bryan Rivera, a native of Nicaragua ($27,500 bonus), has started 17 of his 19 games over the two summers thus far. That's always a signal from Brewers management that they see potential in the repertoire of a youngster. Five innings here, the only hit allowed a solo home run (1 BB, 1 HBP, 8 K). Like Anthony Flores in the game detailed above, Rivera is now working on back-to-back excellent outings (his game log). A reminder that the Brewers have always prioritized their international bonus pool on position players, but certainly there are signals some hidden gems have been unearthed. But that career path is so long! We'll keep watching. As for that 7th inning rally, to the rescue, leadoff 3B Demetrio Nadal, three-run bomb for the lead. With an OK but middling .692 OPS in 2022, the now 19-year-old has only struck out twice (!) in 41 2023 AB's, line now .341/.451/.610 (1.061 OPS) in the let's-be-patient still small sample. Nadal signed in July of 2021 but didn't debut on the island until the following summer. He's played the hot corner primarily, but like so many others, has seen action elsewhere in the infield as well as a bit of left field.
