  1. Maybe it wasn’t really the kid’s decision, but as of draft day his dad posted “Let’s go Brew Crew! Onto the next level.”
  2. For the record, I would bet that Knaak will sign, just not for some huge discount beyond that of a typical college junior. He was picked #163, and ranking services Ive seen have him between 129 (ESPN) and 210 (MLB). My original point is that the Brewers only have 315K to spend and can't count on much if any via Knaak. I could be very wrong about this, and I suppose it's possible that Bell could be signed for Makale Holden money instead of Chase Bentley money, but I'm not holding my breath.

Alternatively, the 5% overage for the 9 top-10 picks they have signed is $380,875, so they have only $315,875 remaining of excess to sign the 13-16 guys (plus anything additional they save should they sign Knaak for less than slot.) I think it was Arnold who said he was confident that they would sign the top 4....
