BrewCrewWS2008 replied to Jim Goulart's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
wow thats crazy! 6 in to games now....some made a comment about the Mel Stocker tcall up a few years ago in a different tread towards Farris because at the time he was 19 for 19 i think but ha maybe Prince a guy to think about for that. No hitting just pinch running. I heard he had blazing speed but yeah wow -

damn thats kind of a blow, hope he recovers fast, those things can linger pretty bad and really throw off your game if you try to play throw it. -
I would be willing to donate my right nut to land Jurrjens or Hansen for Hart! It'd be well worth it for that kind of steal! ha i'd remind me of the steal that the Spurs got in the Jefferson trade yesterday. Thank god I quit following them and basketball. I'd be goin nuts otherwise. But really looking though their roster it seems pretty tough to be able to land Jair without adding some real nice prospects. I don't see them needing Hall so beside Hart you'd have to add at least Jeffress and a PTBNL in the lower level Juirrjen 4 Hart, Jeffress and a player like Haydel (his mid level prospect type) To add Francouer that will take a Jeffress and a Gindl or Green (high level prospect) thats just what I think though and I'm am no Doug Melvin so....

Top Notch Starters at Deadline
BrewCrewWS2008 replied to Hate those Rodents's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Peralta, Scarpetta, Odorizzi, and Arnett are all easy choices. I would also include the likes of Anundsen, Cody and Frederickson. I understand your point of "high ceiling" pitchers - but many "high ceiling" pitchers never pan out. A Suppan type pitcher for $400,000 a year instead of $12,500,000 is very valuable. Even when Rogers wasn't hurt - his results were mediocre. Butler completely feel off the radar until being promoted to AAA (then back down to AA), but his BB/K ratio in A+ was less than encouraging. There is certainly a push and pull between likely average MLB players and possibly great MLB players. Twobrewers I got your back on this one. While I am a fan of Rogers and don't really want to trade him their are still guys in front of him. As for Butler....its amazing what a call up from A+ to AAA for a few starts will do to peoples heads. You know Bucci should just be shooting up everyones list also because he moved up to AA and pitched okay in his stint. Last year after Butler got here no one talked about him or thought much of him. He didn't put up that great of stats eighter. Check out below. Braddock, Jeffress, Scapetta, are the 3 I would for sure put in front of Rogers then in front of Butler, well we got( in no order) Peralta, Odorizzi, Rogers, Cody, Periard, Fredrickson, Arnett, and Anundsen so if you take out Rogers you got 10 others in front of Butler. Yes he throws harder and is having a good season but his 5+ ERA last season just doesn't make me get down on my hands and knees and worship him. Someone tried to say he is a better prospect than Anundsen because he throws harder lol wow okay. I truely did forget velocity tops everything, can't be good if your not throwing mid 90's Personally I will take Anundsen or aka a "Suppan" over Butler who may just be a McClung. At least Anundsen has been able to be very consistant through Rookie, A and A+ ball and dominate unlike Butler who has been very inconsistant. Last year was just ugly for him. I know that Anundsen struggles to hit 88 and thats fine if he has the smarts, location, and other stuff to back him up. Josh Butler first 2 seasons 2007-- 9-4 3.33 ERA 127 IP 41 BB 84 K 114 H 12 HR'S 1.24 WHIP...... not to bad nice first season 2008--3-16 5.66 ERA 151 IP 65 BB 104K 156 H 14 HR'S 1.46 WHIP...... not to pretty of a second season I don't dislike him or anything and want him to be good and pruduce for the Brewers but as of now I don't buy into the hype around him right now Next point I'd like to make I am not very high on Bedard like most of you who think he is the guy to get. Heres why: 1) Jack Z put most of are talent in our minor league system and wont' just give Melvin a huge discount because they are friends. He is going to ask for some of the talent he is high on that he brought to Milwaukee. 2)Next I think Bedard is a good pitcher and all but I don't think he is the difference maker we need. I am not going to unload a lot of talent for a plus pitcher, I want a great pitcher. Now if Peavy (who I am real pissed at for getting hurt right after he took off his no trade clause to milwaukee) was the guy we made a trade for awesome! He is a GREAT pitcher that still has a few years left on his contract. I don't think Bedard is worth the price tag which we will have to pay. (that is if it is for prospects) 3)Last, if it is possible I'd like a trade that would allow us to part ways with Billy Hall (doubt it) and maybe JJ Hardy or Cory Hart. We have a replacement for at least Hardy and he can bring in a pretty solid guy and i like think the cory hart to braves talk that we have in the tread. -
I'd like Cody to get the call pretty soon, he has been roling and looks to be a promising pitcher. Really when you think about it can our rotation get any worse, why not give him a shot. I still think Dillard should have been called up up before Narverson and Burns. Burns pitched okay in AAA and had a nice debut outting but I think Dillard has pitched real well. He also had success last year when we was called up except for one REAL BIG accident that gave up 4 runs in a crack of the bat. I think they really do need to do something with their medical staff and i agree that Bush really should have been looked at closer after he took that shot to the elbow. This doesn't do it for me: Gallardo Suppan Looper Burns McClung Not going to complain about it but that is sure as hell is ugly...yuck! It sucks to feel like you only have 1 pitcher in the rotation that is consistant and will give you and chance to win(Gallardo)

I've been real excited for Garfield since the draft. First it was a shock and a nice surprise we went straight to Helena, then even better noticing he impressed them enough to hit 5th, finally a 5-5 night with a shot maybe to go 6-6... Wow lol I may need to start or hop on the cameron garfield bandwagon! Helena's whole lineup has looked pretty good tonight. Really surprised they sent so many older college guy to arizona, Halton and the two other 2nd baseman Brownstein and Sizemore. Man we have a ton of them now, hope they can all move around, I now Sizemore can play third and Fatse played of in college

him wooten and anundsen all need to be moved up, wooten has gave up a few runs lately but still needs real competition and anundsen has been consisantly great all season, believe not one game with more than 2 earned runs, what good is it doing for these guys, it has to almost be boring after awhile ha probably not but still

Former Brewers draftees
BrewCrewWS2008 replied to colbyjack's topic in MLB Draft & International Signings
Drew Bowman, I think. in 2004? yeah 21st round in 2004 then he was drafted in the 5th by the Reds I believe in 2007. Played 2 seasons at ASU then transferred to Nebraska -
lets just hope these guys get promotion after their respective all-star games. I'm excited to see what they can do at the next level. I just hope the Brewers don't keep Anundsen, Braddock, Wooten, Mercedes, Jeffress, Rapoza and even Rogers if he continues to pitch strongly and gets stretched outdown here for the rest of the season. I don't see what good it will do for some of them when they aren't even being challenged. I mean 5 pitchers with sub 1.00 ERA's (Rapoza .76--Braddock .89--Wooten .96--Rogers .96--Mercedes .99--Anundsen 1.84--Jeffress 1.93) those are just sick numbers ( the WHIPS and K/BB ratio are real nice for most of them also). I think Rogers still needs to be stretched out and continue pitching good, you don't want to push him to fast and Jeffress needs to have a few more real good outings but bring the walks before I'd send him up. Its hard to say what they want to do with Braddock, stay in the pen the rest of the year and keep his innings down or get him back in the rotation. Anundsen has proven himself more than enough this season and same goes for Wooten. Then its great to see Mercedes (along with Peralta) really finally putting all their talent together like we have been hoping for......now if only Pascaul could put it all together( not looking good in the DSL though). Last I don't know much about Rapoza beside he is 23 and was the 31st round pick for us last year. He had a good season in the rookie leagues after signing last season.

Frederickson is way more hittable than Neugebauer.Yeah, agreed. He has awhile before he can be the next Neugebauer. The more I read on Cody the more I like the guy and think maybe this season the Brewers should give him a look. His minor league numbers are just outstanding, he is a lefty and he may not be a top 1 or 2 guy but I think he'd make a very nice 4 or 5. Heres a nice article from a few years ago: http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070621&content_id=263265&vkey=news_milb&fext=.jsp

Promotions/making room for the draftees
BrewCrewWS2008 replied to LouisEly's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
wow this could be the first time in 2 or 3 years that we may have a competitive Arizona team! Disappointed that some of them are going to be staying down there but thats a pretty good staff they have and I cant wait for Lasker to get out there. My dream for promotions would be for the Huntsville rotation to look like this by the end of the season: 1. Jeffress 2. Braddock 3. Periard 4. Anundsen 5. Jones maybe Rogers if he starts to work up into the 7 inning or so and is still dominating thats just a dream though im guessing. I'd also like to see Schaefer back up with the Stars and get Dennis up to A+ (Is Cain going to be able to play at all this season?) -
I really hope that at the All-Star break they will start to challenge these guys at Brevard County and move them up so we can see if they are as good as we hope they are. I know they want to stretch Rogers and Braddock out and both havent gone over 3 innings i don't believe and we know Jeffress is working out some problems but Anundsen, Wooten, Mercedes, Rapoza they all have ERA's in the 1.00's or lower and WHIPS that are below 1.00. They are just destroying batters. This may be the most dominate staff in the minor and is the key reason why they have the best record in the minors. Its real hard to rate Rogers, Braddock, Anundsen and where they should be amongst our pitching prospects when they are not even being challenged at all. They clearly over matter the hitter in a pitching league. Jeffress we have had a decent sample size for him in AA so to me he is above Braddock even with his bad performance this season just for the fact that he is our closest pitching prospect and has been tested in AA. Plus last year he pitched decent in 3 of the 4 games if memory serves me correct and he gave up 6 of his 9 ER in that one bad game.
