  1. He's still their best hitter even if he's DHing. Why send him to Helena? Must be some special situation.
  2. I'll settle for a LH Kirby Puckett.
  3. Giants are old on the field. Durham would provide a veteran LH bat at 2B while Rickie Weeks could rest his wrist. Durham's experience would be stabilizing. I would prefer Taschner but Kline is a grizzled veteran. Either could provide a LH middle reliever. I would offer a package of AA-AAA players with upside like Gwynn, Crabbe, Nix or perhaps Gabe Gross. I would make AAA/AA pitching available outside of Parra, Inman and Thatcher. Thoughts?
  4. I am not a naive poster as surprisingly assumed by "youse" critics. I've followed the Braves and then the Brewers and their minor league teams for 50 years. I would offer Sarfate. I would not give up Parra, their best LH pitching prospect for a 35 year old bullpenner-Otsuka. Let Texas come back with a counter proposal.
  5. Parra is holding up pretty well. Ash might be wrong on his future as a starter. But I wouldn't trade him for Otsuka. I'd consider Sarfate.
  6. I'd pencil Charlie Fermaint in CF, Cain in RF replacing Hart. I'd have Steve Hammond replacing Bush or Capuano as a starting pitcher.
  7. He's my sleeper. Young. Good bat with some power. Made lots of errors at SS, but I would think should be tried at 2b at Brevard in 2007 over the older Kenny Holmberg.
  8. One of the Brewers officials, I think Reid Nichols, said on the radio in the late fall that Mike Jones was or will get to 95% of his former self, which he felt would be enough to be a good prospect. On the other hand, he implied that Manny Parra's career will be more limited by his injuries. I inferred that he was suggesting maybe only a middle reliever or situational lefty in the majors?
  9. I never have had real problems with Geoff Jenkins. He just has never been quite as good as fans hoped. Jenkins fits this team. He's a good professional ballplayer. Hustles, knows how to run the bases, plays good defense, has some power. So he's streaky. He's not alone in the history of this team in particular, or any team for that matter. Streaky is okay if you have a good hitting ballclub, which the Brewers should have. It doesn't work if you expect him to be the GUY, which I don't. Neither do they, for that matter. With Hall and Hart penciled in, they can use a regular LH bat in the third spot. Seven million isn't that much money in the current salary climate. If he's traded for value, I'm okay, to clear a croweded situation. As a salary dump, I don't think it helps this team to win.
  10. I expected it. He was great, 20 years ago. Probably why we got him in the late 90's. But little was coming out of there. Since we have an entire minor league system, quantity is not the problem. We obviously have one of the worst records in Latino ballplayers. This has been a problem since the late 1980's and needs to be rectified as part of our over development.
  11. Give him a break. Nieves was a fine young pitcher who, unfortunately,http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif tore up his shoulder because of excessive, unsupervised weight lifting.
  12. Draft and follow Justin Barnes signed 5/18 and rostered at Arizona Brewers as a 3B.
