  1. Jeffress sounds like a very good athlete: www.baseballamerica.com/d...p?team=MIL This is in common with Rogers, and perhaps indicates this is more important to Jack Z than some other scouting directors? We shall see, I have no expertise, but I like what I saw, although it definitely appears to be high risk/reward since the only developed pitch right now is the fastball. But it appears to be quite a fastball!
  2. Of any player I would like Hochevar, although I realize he won't be there and even if he was the Brewers likely wouldn't spend the big bucks to grab him. Of those listed, from their videos and bios I really like Brooks Brown and Jeremy Jeffress, but I would be happy with Conger too.
  3. I was at the first 5.5 innings of today's game, not much to report, just a few notes: Hammond sat in the 87-88 mph range, and hit 92 once on the gun I was watching. He has a breaking ball with screwball motion, and had lefties guessing with what looked like a slider/curve that broke down and away from them (threw it around 80-82). Escobar ripped the double, one-hopped the wall. His second hit was a bunt single. Showed some good range on a ball hit up the middle, but didn't complete the play. Drew's homer was massive.
  4. Thanks Bill and Toby, it has been great to follow.
  5. If the Royals do pass on Gordon, which seems to be possible, the Mariners reporter seemed fairly convinced they would still take Tulowitzki. Whether this reporter had any inside information I don't know, but he is closer to it then most of us, so I guess it could happen, I am not counting on it though.
  6. Jonathon Mayo held a mock draft with reporters from each of the teams (e.g. McCalvy for the Brewers) 1-15 at the following link: www.minorleaguebaseball.com Link is at the top of the page (edit: I don't know why it isn't converting the link, it always has in the past- fixed, thanks toby). For those who don't want to listen, here are their results, pretty much as has been discussed: 1) Arz - Upton 2) KC - Gordon 3) Sea - Tulowitzki 4) Was - Zimmerman 5) Mil - Maybin (would take Gordon or Zimmerman if there) 6) Tor - Romero 7) Col - Hochevar http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/glasses.gif TB - Townsend 9) NYM - Hansen 10) Det - Pelfrey 11) Pit - McCutcheon 12) Cin - Ellsbury 13) Balt - Bruce 14) Clev - Braun 15) Chi(a) - Bogusevic Edit by Toby: You have to put the in front of it to link.
  7. I agree Colbyjack, that K/BB ratio from Greene really scares me, I would like to see a much better ratio from a high caliber hitter in college, ala Clement or Gordon. This coupled with the not-so-high power ceiling of Greene and I don't know that he would be my choice for the Brewers future 3-bagger. If Clement's D is okay and he can stay at catcher, I would be very happy with either he or if something wild happens on draft day, of course Gordon would be great. p.s. I am not sure if you want replies in this thread or if you want to keep this clean for updates etc...
  8. Concerning surfernetwork, when I open it up there are 2 windows opened, a small window on top and a large window below it. If you close the large window on the bottom (but leave the upper window open) you get the broadcast, and no more ads, if you leave the large window open you have the problems. At least this is the case for me.
  9. from perfect game: &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Salome, Angel &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp C &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp George Washington &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp New York, NY &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp R-R &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 5'10 &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 188 &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp NY &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp 6/2 &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Watch out for him in the draft, he's been tearing it up for weeks and still gets an occasional FB for a strike. 5/20 &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Has not let up all season batting over .800 (not a typo) with millions of x-tra base hits incl 9 HR's and 32 RBI's. His SLG% is an unearthly 2.111 and his Plus arm has never looked stronger. Top draft prospect in the state. Wow ! 5/11 &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Still punishing the ball, had a game last week with 3 HR's and at one point had 15 consecutive hits in a row ! Just hit for the cycle in front of a bunch of scouts and has been hosing runners that get more than 3 feet off 1B. Stock's still rising. 4/28 &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Showing scouts big catch and throw skill and a powerful bat this spring, he has hit the ball hard and thrown out nearly everyone that dared run on him. Just hit 3 HR's yesterday, each one traveled farther than the next. He now has 10 HR's on the year and not a runner advanced a single base yet all season.
  10. Hi Pudster, I would be very interested in the video if it can be made available on the site, but until then, what were your impressions of the BP?
  11. I hope they didn't cough up that much $, because to this novice it seems likely that some real good prep players will slip down to the later rounds and it would be a shame if we can't select them because we don't have enough money left in our draft coffers due to this signing. I don't intend to take anything away from Dillard, I actually think he sounds very good, but the issue is that we paid him like a 2nd rounder (if the rumor is true), and he likely wouldn't have been drafted there.
  12. I didn't see anyone else post this yet, but here is what Gammons had to say on the upcoming draft: "As it stands today, Tampa Bay has narrowed its choice for the No. 1 overall pick in next month's draft to either Southern University shortstop/second baseman Rickie Weeks or California high school outfielder Delmon Young. Milwaukee is expected to take left-hander Adam Loewen -- presuming the Orioles don't sign him before the draft -- and the Tigers are expected to choose between Weeks, Richmond right-hander Tim Stauffer and Young. San Diego wants Young, but will be happy with Loewen, Stauffer or Weeks. The Royals are interested in Dunedin (Fla.) first baseman Ryan Harvey. Wake Forest RHP Kyle Sleeth may have slipped, but won't go much past the Cubs at six, if they pass. After that, it's anyone's guess." The whole article is at: espn.go.com/gammons/s/200...56366.html Perhaps Mr. Melvin was doing a bit of cover-up himself when he mentioned that taking pitchers early was risky? But perhaps Gammons' info. isn't too good? Who knows. Well I do, but I won't share http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif , just kidding.
