  1. I caught the latter half of the game and saw the Sexson bomb, could be the last one we see in a Brewer uniform.Watching Sexson since he arrived here i have great respect for the man,he plays hurt, plays well, and by all acounts is a model citizen and teammate. No doubt if he is traded it will be a sad day for me as a Brewer fan even if the trade is in our best interest.Seeing some of the monster bombs he hits is often the only bright spot in many dismal Brewer games.
  2. I didnt watch much of the game at all,i watched the Marlins/Philly game.Seeing the box score Kinney got jacked again, does anyone hold out hope that this guy has a future as even a semi-decent starter?? He started out nice, but for the most part he makes Jamey Wright look consistant.
  3. Worst television announcing tandem in sports. You are being to kind NDOGG Schroeder reminds me of one of those wooden dummies with a string in his back that someone pulls every ten seconds to spit out a cliche to fit any situation.
  4. Brooks is a trip, the guys looks like he stumbled on to our team from some softball bar league. He has a dumpy build, sweats like a pig, makes Gorman Thomas look like a smooth athlete, his swing is pure hack no matter the count or situation, and the guy can pitch also. Nice pickup by Melvin
  5. The next few weeks are going to be ugly. No reason for anyone to be surprised. While beating any teams in the majors to have a 10 game winning streak isnt easy at all,the current swoon just shows what happens when we play actual decent teams. I was there tonight, and it was awful I hope you got free tickets or bought cheap ones, that game looked like it could have put an insomniac to sleep.
  6. I was gone and missed most of the game,L Martinez by the stats had a rough game. Did he look nervous?? Any viewpoints on his stuff,i saw him face 1 hitter and all i could tell was he looked tall and didnt look like he threw that hard.
  7. In general i think for the majority of managers, they only play a minor role in a teams final record based on the moves they make.Managing a teams lockeroom and personalities is as important as the moves they make, but in the end baseball is pretty much a one on one sport.Good players make a manager look good, ask Joe Torre.
  8. I love the signing of Davis also, just from my years playing fantasy baseball i think Davis was much like Loaiza if i remember correct. He would have a couple fabulous starts and then he would go 2-3 starts in a row getting completely shelled,a good ERA would get destroyed be a few 2 IP 6-7 ER type of starts. Watching him pitch he seems like a guy that would be good against certain teams and struggle vs others. He doesnt throw hard at all and counts on players swinging at changeups off the plate. The Cubs are a perfect team for him,not a bunch of power or hitters who take pitches and make Davis throw that 87mph fastball for a strike. I'm all for giving this guy a chance, but lets see him vs some of the good hitting teams we will be facing. The Reds lineup is as bad as it gets and the Cubs arent mashers either. One thing we do know is,many teams struggle vs lefties and soft tossing lefthanders who can spot a changeup can be successfull in the bigs.

  10. Ginter is better than Hall, and every bit as good as Helms, at 20% of the cost. The frustrating part of this is these last 2 months were the perfect time to play both Hall and Ginter everyday to get at least some read on their ability in the majors. Hall should be starting everyday at SS to see if he can be a bridge there until Hardy is ready. How this 2 headed braincramp {Melvin/Yost} can't see this and instead trot out worthless Clayton is beyond stupid.Yost is looking more and more to be nothing more than a cheerleader to me,peppy and not very bright.
  11. Anyone still want to claim that we got hosed in the Leskanic deal? Considering what we gave up and that we are in last place,it would have been hard for us to get hosed in dealing Curtis.Wes looks good so far even if its only 2 starts, but i found the Rocks game more impressive. That Mets lineup is bad and thats being kind.
  12. Very nice start for the kid,i had a bad vibe he'd get shelled Very impressive after back to back jacks then a triple by Payton,he didnt panic and fall apart.
  13. Rough place to get a first start I hope for his sake if he gets shelled he doesnt hang his head to much,Coors Field can make star pitchers look like Glendon Rusch
  14. Man when your a top 15 pick and get offered between 2-4 million dollars these kids really really got to think hard before turning it down especially a pitcher who could get hurt and lose everything. Just by a rough estimate on 1.75 million after taxes your looking at a check for 1.2ish million dollars. On 4 million dollars your looking at a check for near 3 million dollars, your set for life if you dont get foolish with your money. Sometimes these guys fight for an extra few hundred grand and crap out by getting nothing.I understand it might be their only contract, but they are taking a huge risk to pass on enough money that could partially or fully set them up for life.
  15. One more start like this, we can get a couple middling prospects for Rusch. Am i mistaken or isnt Rusch under contract for around 5 million next year?? By the way AL i saw your dad is ill, best wishes to him. My grandpa was very ill recently and i know its rough.
  16. I missed the game, but saw the highlights. My impression of Ford is he doesnt throw very hard and relies completely on command. When he misses even by a little bit righthanded hitters crush him,87mph fastballs over the plate make big league hitters very happy. If he continues to struggle i'd put him back in the pen, can't forget how young he is.
  17. I'm suprised guys like VDW or Stairs dont have a job for a contending team like the A's/Yanks/Angels. Both hit righties very well, are cheap, and are great injury insurance. The A's need offense in the worst way and the Angels miss Fullmer,Stairs would be a nice DH fotr them.
  18. Wow you gotta wonder how they found their way here Who tipped you off about the quote?
  19. This L Estrella looks like he could be another smooth bullpen find. You look at what the Fish gave up for Urbina and his not so dazzling ERA,makes you wonder what they were thinking. I know its not always easy to get free/cheap bullpen arms since many teams have bad pens, but it's odd how we find these guys every year.
  20. I miss Hank Beatlejuice is entertaining, but Hank was the man
  21. Selig has been a decent comish in my opinion,he done some good things and had some things backfire on him.I think his biggest problem is hes not media savy and comes accross bad on TV.A guy like David Stern is just smooth as silk,he can spin a negative situation as good as anyone.Selig just has that dracula look about him and never underestimate imagine with the public. It matters often how you look and say something as much as what you say.
  22. What???? So is Bud saying that he knows which team is going to represent the AL in the Series right now, and get those hotel rooms reserved? One of the dumbest things I've heard anyone say. What else can he say since awarding HFA to an exibition game winner vs best record can't be defended by any logical arguement,so you make one up.
  23. You follow this draft stuff more closely Colby, explain this fear of drafting short pitchers,i just dont get it. If a guy is 5'10-5'11 and throws 95 and another guy is 6'2 and also throws 95 with both having an equal curveball, why will the shorter guy often get drafted at least a few rounds later or maybe even more than a few rounds later?? What am i missing here??
  24. I heard Gammons talk about this,he pretty much said what someone else here said, the major league players dont care enough that the draftees are getting squeezed.Im sure baseball knows this and thats why its taking the actions its taking. You see it in nearly every pro sport, when their CBA is up the unions seem to have no problem selling out the kids being drafted for obvious reasons.
