I think Punto could be had for a minor league deal due to the lack of interest in him. Cesar Izturis probably can be had for a fringe prospect & with his range could certainly help limit Casey's impact. Cesar

Royals don't need a young catcher. Escobar, Jefferess, & Gomez would be my guess. Just too hard to part with Cain.

Gomez for Blanton & 4M. Nobody is gonna trade much for him unless PHils cough up a lot of money. Which defeats the purpose of trading him. They don't want him in ST & risk him getting hurt & being stuck with him

2 yrs with a vested option is probably the way to go. What about adding Pavano & Blanton to the rotation.

Philly sources said no rush to deal him:) Translation wanted him gone yesterday. Whichever team is willing to eat the most of his contract will get him.

Blanton pitched much better in the second half of the year. Was dealing with an injury for the first few months.

Well except Blanton pitches half his games in the worst pitchers park in baseball. And usually puts up more quality starts every year than Bush.

If the Phils eat some money. I just don't see any downside to a deal for Blanton unless his arm is toast. Like others have said get to the playoffs & anything can happen.

Adding Blanton doesn't eliminate a Garza trade possibility

If the crew don't give-up much they could still be players on Garza.

Wouldn't cost the crew much in prospects & probably cheaper than Pavano
