  1. More questions than answers from J.J. Abrams? NO WAY http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I saw the first 3 episodes, have the latest one taped. Not sold on the show yet, because I couldn't care less about the main character.
  2. I've only skimmed the thread, but I don't think I can bring myself to see the film. I've heard it's a human story with robots while Transformers should be a robot story with humans. This just feels all wrong to me. I'm pretty sure there isn't a way to make this movie live action - make this movie commercially viable and satisfy the hardcore fanboys.
  3. I'm with RobertR - Entertaining movie with a lot of problems. I hate how every action movie these days now HAS to have a stuntman that can jump around like he's from the Matrix. If I had to rank the movies I'd go in this order: 1) Die Hard - by a long shot 2) Die Hard with a Vengeance - I liked Sam Jackson playing someone different than his typical role 3) Live Free or Die Hard - Entertaining if you don't think about it Die Hard 2 - I'm not sure why but I really hated this one. For sure the ejector seat scene bugged the heck out of me. I would have liked this movie better if the bad guy was the guy who plays PC in the Mac/PC commercials.
  4. I haven't seen it and I doubt I will...at least probably not until at least DVD. I'm just not the kinda guy that can ignore stupid things in a movie. For example, I watched Live Free or Die Hard yesterday and while it was entertaining, I wouldn't say I liked it. Nor would I recommend it. I'm not going to "check my brain at the door" if something's just really dumb, and I kinda fear that here. The problem here is they've probably ruined something I absolutely loved as a child and I don't want to tarnish that memory. However I think it's important to note: They wanted to make Bumble Bee a VW Bug but VW wouldn't allow the licensing. They don't want to be associated with anything "war". While I can understand where they're coming from, previously being the car of Hitler, it's FREAKING TRANSFORMERS. Hasboro ran into the same problem when they were trying to rerelease generation 1 toys.
  5. I couldn't find anywhere that this was posted, but I thought it was pretty funny: EDIT: There are a couple parts where F bombs are dropped, in case you're at work you might want to keep the volume down/use headphones.
  6. My DVR cut off the previews for next week, but that's good to know. I'm actually really surprised (and mostly happy) that the production of the film only lasted an episode. I thought it would be serevral.
  7. I really enjoyed the change of pace for an episode...I just hope it doesn't go further than that.
  8. I thought season 1 was really good, but in season 2 a lot of the situations felt a whole lot more "forced". It was still pretty funny, but I don't think it worked as well.
  9. I know this TV show has been brought up here before so I thought I'd pass along some info about a DVD release for the first two season (with cover art) because I think some of you are interested: www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=7438 BTW tvshowsondvd.com is an excellent way to keep up on dvd releases for the TV shows you care about.
  10. Personally I don't understand all the Affleck haters out there. He's been great in every Kevin Smith movie he's been in, I thought he was very good in Good Will Hunting, Glory Daze and Boiler Room. I still need to see it but I've heard good things about his performance in Hollywoodland as well. Sure he's had more than his share of missteps, but it's very difficult to name well known actors that haven't. Plus he was the bomb in phantoms, yo.
  11. For all the props Speilberg gets he screws up an awful damn lot. HOWEVER, to be completely fair Speilbergo, while I haven't seen it I heard John Woo did his fare share of screwing with Philip K. Dick's work.
  12. yeah, exactly what I'm referring to, because the alternative is simply an EXTREMELY strong coincidence and I don't know if I like that. With everything else it's a chicken and the egg problem: Did he choose a brunette because he sort of remembered her or was she a brunette because that's what he chose...ect...
  13. Me to.
  14. The two I thought of... Total Recall - you will probably laugh, but I absolutely loved this ending because you could just watch it mindlessly for the action and take it at face value - you can accept that everything was presented as this world's "reality"...but if you wanted to think about it more, you find yourself asking if he actually got the vacation he paid for... Ghost World - actually almost goes against the point, I loved the movie despite not liking the ending much at all. So I guess that's the difference for me. In general, I prefer things (like Total Recall) that appear to have a definitive ending unless you think about it much more than things (like ghost world) where the ending is purposely ambiguous.
  15. I really like this thread because the bands have a lot in common, but are yet so very different - it can lead to a lot of interesting analysis. For me I think Soundgarden are the better musicians, but which would I rather listen to? Pumpkins. They have more songs that I'd want to listen to right now. The answer use to be Soundgarden but I've gotten so sick of how WAY too many songs devolve into the repeating of a phrase or the chorus for far too long at the end of the song. A lot of people think Black Hole Sun is awesome. For me it use to be, but I can't listen to it anymore. Fell on Black days is guilty as well, and while I can still stomach Fell on Black Days I don't like it nearly as much as I use to. For the most part, while Soundgarden's song composition was often genius, they didn't know how to end a song. As for best songs...I'd go Rocket for Smashing Pumpkins and Pretty Noose for Soundgarden.
