good point, forgot about that, but still. He had 2 strikes...why intentionally walk Blum?
Tough call with 2 strikes, but once it went even it swung the odds in Blums favor a bit more. Not a good matchup to begin with, with him being LH and a vet. A much. much better matchup for him against Towles. He was not good offensively last year and it a pretty free swinger iirc

I'd rather Villa face the righty, rather than the lefty Blum, even with two strikes. Especially if the next batter is Towles.
Maybe, but the question is why even pitch to him then? Why wait until a 2-2 count?

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Halls throw was 10,000 times worse than Fielders pick, the play bounced and was way off target. To square up on that Fielder would have had to take 4 steps off of 1B.

So why is Villanueva hitting?

Edit: Because he's a better hitter than Duffy, McGehee or Rivera. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

no, I don't feel good about this game, either. I'll be pleasantly surprised if they happen to win because I don't care what fangraphs or anybody else says, this is a likely going to be a loss in the ol' scorebook.

Because the count was even and at that point Berkman had moved to 2nd on the PB so 1st was open

Kendall's ball was a can of corn, probably about 20 feet from the crawford boxes. Weeks looked mystified that he was batting, lol.

Thanks, looked like it was on the track on Gameday.

No wonder why you asked. That never happens. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I couldn't agree any more. Good news is if we can get through this half inning, we've got Hart, Braun, Fielder next up.

thank goodness CV's looking good this inning. 2 K's and a base hit for himself.

EDIT: Just as I say this, Bourn hits a double...I think I'm just gonna go watch Sportscenter, now.

Uh oh, maybe this is why the president and Mrs. Bush left early.

Like our lineup in the 11th if Villa can hang on. Keep those pitches down, buddy.
