  1. I looked through some old messages about our favorite radio calls over the years by Uecker/Powell, but I didn't see a link to any website or other source to hear some of our favorite plays over again. Anybody know where we can find them online?
  2. It's not negativity as much as it is a reflection of the team's recent play. Sure, it's possible the team may suddenly turn things around but I think the point the consensus is making is that there's absolutely no indication in the team's play to suggest they will. Getting blown out at home to the worst team in baseball is not a good sign. Other than sheer blind optimism, there is no basis for expecting a turnaround. If tonight's game doesn't warrant a players-only postgame clubhouse meeting, I can't imagine what would. Team leaders need to step forward. Now.
  3. Good news is Smith looks OK so far. Of course, if the color commentator had his way, Parra would still be pitching in the 2nd down about 17-0 because "he got them into this mess and he's got to get them out." That comment still irks me.
  4. Uh oh, maybe this is why the president and Mrs. Bush left early. Like our lineup in the 11th if Villa can hang on. Keep those pitches down, buddy.
  5. I had tickets to buy for 2 larger groups of 13 and 17 people, so I had to wait to get through by phone. Took about an hour and 45 minutes, and then another 10 minutes on hold before getting through and buying my tix just after 11am. What struck me as odd was that I had no problem getting good seats in the outfield loge for the group of 17 for the Sun. June 28 (Kendall bobblehead) game, but they had nothing available in outfield loge for the group of 13 for the Sat. May 30 (cooler giveaway) game. We ended up in infield loge in the last couple rows. I always thought that the bobblehead games were the most popular-- any idea why May 30 was a much tougher ticket? Also picked up a pair to go with Mom to the Braun bobblehead game for an early Mother's Day treat. Got row 6 in field level, mid-outfield. Also asked about club level infield but they were all gone, even for a pair. Just be persistent and you'll get through.
  6. It sounds like Sveum expects to know his future within a week. I think the odds of him staying are less than 50%, although making the playoffs obviously bolstered his chances. I don't give the team's desire to see Sveum return as adding much because teams almost always say that. If not Sveum, who? My top two replacement candidates would be Bobby Valentine or Davey Johnson. It would seem this is the year to look outside the franchise because I expect a lot of offseason turnover (agree with Hunt's JS article about getting rid of Fielder and Weeks).
  7. Woo hoo! Thanks to tonight's win I'm going to a Brewers playoff game for the first time since '82. Tomorrow I'll be in section 104, row 12. Any idea how many rows there are in that bleachers section? Wondering how much my view will be obstructed from the overhanging second deck. Also hoping they saved a rally towel for me!
  8. It's pretty obvious to me why we got the noon game. MLB/TBS want to bolster ratings by having continuous baseball rather than a potential 3-hour lag between games due to a sweep. TB-CHI and LA-BOS will only be game 3, so they're sure things and will play no matter what, so they get the 3:00 and 6:00 gametimes. The powers that be probably figure the Cubs are more likely than we are to win Game 3 and thus require a game 4 so they get the late game, which would not face any football (plus sort of a necessity due to the Pacific time in LA). If we're swept, there's no gap and baseball will start at 3:00 that day. Of course, I personally don't care about TBS on Sunday because if there's a game at Miller Park, I'll be there in person! C'mon, Crew, get us to Game 4.
  9. What most frustrates me is that the exact same pitch which was a strike in the first inning was not a strike in the second inning.
  10. How can an umpire miss so many strikes? Absolutely inexcusable.
  11. I'm thinking of heading over to the new sports bar in Fitchburg where Fitch's Chop House used to be. A friend of mine said she thought it opens tomorrow-- anyone know if that's right? I don't want to drive there at gametime only to scramble somewhere else because it's not open yet.
  12. Not as good as Ueck's, but I loved hearing Anderson's voice crack as he said Braun's name on the HR. Never cared for BA too much early on in his Brewers career but he's really grown on me.
  13. Looks like the Mets-Marlins are on TBS, so at least we can watch both games today.
  14. Weird. I admit I've never watched this channel before today, but I don't really think it is local. What does it say on your guide for ch 251? Is it WPIX?There is no channel 251, not even outside my subscription. I ran through my entire guide, no game, just watching on Gamecast.
  15. I have Dish but not getting the game on ch. 251. Must be local to you.
