Unless last year turns out to be for real I'd say Wolf and Davis are both better than Piniero. So hard to tell when someone pitches so out of normal expectations in their early 30s.

Rather had this deal than Wolf's, simply because he is RH with RH-heavy lineups in the division (Pujols, Holliday, Ludwick, D. Lee, A. Ramirez, Soriano, C. Lee, Pence).

So the Mets didn't get Piniero... which means I have to agree even more with JohnBriggs that they sign Sheets.

I don't think Pineiro is for real. That career-best-at-31 season sure looks like an outlier to me. The Angels are not paying much, and have the money to absorb a hit, so it will not hurt them, but I just do not think his one good year will be sustainable.

For one, I'm glad to see Pineiro out of St. Louis and out of the NL entirely. I would have preferred him over Wolf myself, especially on a 2 year deal but at least he won't torment the Brewer hitters this year.

Did the Cardinals really make much of an effort to sign Piniero? I don't remember hearing anyone talk about it. If not, that would seem to be a big indicator... they seem to know when to let people walk.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Not that I noticed. They are too busy scrambling to get their pieces in place to resign Pujols. And that included signing Holliday.
