Marlins Trade Cameron Maybin to San Diego

Florida gets Edward Mujica and Ryan Webb in return. I remember Maybin having quite a few fans here leading up to the 2005 draft, but it's a shame he hasn't quite been able to put it together. Petco Park might be a good fit for his skillset if he can ever figure out how to get on base.

He's still young, but it's looking like he's headed toward the Boulevard of Busted Phenoms. I was impressed with Mujica when I saw him last season, so I think this is a good deal for the fish.

I have no idea who's going to replace Maybin in CF for the Marlins, but Mujica and Webb are pretty good pitchers, and Webb should help solidify the back end of that bullpen for Florida.

I guess this means the Tony Gwynn Jr era is over. If Maybin could hit even in the .260-.275 range he'd be an asset given his defense and touch of power. He's 2 years younger than CarGo and a little better hitter already.
