How do we post gifs? Are they video? Images? I messed around with it for a bit and could not figure it out. Thanks in advance.

Animated GIFs are images. Stick the URL to the GIF between

[img][/img]

tags.

I can insert an actual image and view it in "preview," but I'm still having problems inserting a gif.

Should I be copy/pasting the url in between these tags?

You're not using the direct URL of the image. Rather, you're using the URL of the page containing the image.

 

You can right click on the image and choose "View Image" (or your browser's equivalent). That'll bring up the image by itself, and you can copy the URL from the address bar. Or, when right-clicking, you can choose "Copy Image Location" (or your browser's equivalent).
