There have been some really good at bats tonight, and then a few frustrating first pitch weak grounders. Greinke and Kershaw have to be approached to get them out of the game after 6, and take your chances against the pen.

Reynolds has been good defensively so far but that was terrible. Throw early to second run him back towards first... Taught in little league. Worst case they end up back on first, never on second

The mistake Reynolds made was he was not simply running as fast as he can at Kemp. Just run as fast as you can at the runner, if you cant get him then throw to the next guy who runs as fast as he can the other way. The problem was Segura was already going to the dugout and was like 20 feet in front of second and Reynolds was not expecting him to be there

Am I the only one who thinks that Davis' helmet seems odd. It always seems to be covering his eyes and he has to hold his head up to see out. Like the kid in little league who always picks a helmet that is too big.

He has no reason to run him towards second anywhere near that far. Give it up early and get the runner moving back towards first, makes the worst case a lot more tolerable. Do agree Segura was also in an unexplainable spot as well. Bad all around.

Batters hit .303 against Greinke when hes throwing his 61st to 75th pitch

There's the unique stat of the night. My how data storage has changed, bet they didn't track that 10 years ago.

In major league baseball the worst case scenario in theory is that it takes 2 throws to get the out, not that the guys somehow gets out of the run down. This isn't little league where a better athlete probably can get out of a rundown so you cut your losses and run him back.

In case you werent aware. Jimmy Nelson is from Niceville, Florida. Scully has mentioned this 3 times so far....2 mentions short of making it a drinking game...and this LaCroix guy batting must be new

[cool story bro] Florida restaurant that had newspapers above the urinals.

Beef O' Brady's or Alehouse?

I think it was a tourist trap restaurant in Fort Walton Beach, but it could've just been some random bathroom break while on the road.

Jimmy better be taking till 2 strikes.

Seriously, to whoever thought a few weeks ago Braun was given the red light on a 3-1 pitch, the fact the Nelson wasn't even taking until at least a strike is proof the Brewers don't even have a take sign.

Really enjoying Counsell on the broadcast tonight.

Agreed, feels like he's sitting in your living room having a conversation. He's smooth, nothing seems forced.

First pitch weak grounder... Brutal. I really don't have an issue swinging first pitch, but if you do it better be a pitch and location your sitting on, which means odds are you can square it up. Weak grounders are frustrating.

That play is a pretty good indicator, I think, that Gomez isn't up to par with Gordon in terms of speed. I doubt Gomez beats that out.

Interesting to consider the play of just throwing Gordon out on his come-backer, if you assume he will be at second soon and you'd rather have the slower Barney at 2nd with 1 out. So you have to weight the odds of throwing him out or Puig GIDP early in the count vs a hit that Gordon scores on but Barney does not, and you have to consider Gordon stealing 3rd with < 2 outs
