Braves sign Markakis

That actually seems like a reasonable contract.

 

I don't think this will affect Upton much since Markakis just replaces Heyward.

He was .276/.342/.386/.728 in a favorable ball park. Kris

Davis OPS was .756. Markakis is 5 years older. I don't think it's a particularly good deal for the Braves. Markakis, while not a bad fielder, is no gold glover either.

Markasis Is projected for about 1.8 wins next year. Reducing that by 0.5 wins each year we get 1.8, 1.3, 0.8. and 0.3 for a total of 4.2. At $7 million per win that is $29.4 million. He's getting $44 million.
