We've been running a 3-4 or some variation of it for what seems like 147 years and have never, ever, ever successfully defended a middle crossing route so it seems like maybe either the scheme sucks or the players aren't adequate for the task. Maybe.

The Packers LB group historically grades out poorly in coverage. Which a competent DC would realize and determine that they shouldn’t cover freaking wide receivers. But, here we are.

Isn’t Martinez grading out really well in coverage for the Giants? If so, I’m guessing he was being asked to do things schematically here that he simple couldn’t do.

I'm glad we burned half of our remaining clock trying to get 5 yards.

That’s smart, actually. Not converting gives the Colts forever plus 3 time outs, so the smart thing was to burn the clock down.

Really piss poor clock management this drive. We had almost a full 2 minutes and a timeout when we started this drive. That's a world of time.

I meant the current group.

Again, I think you’re off base here if you’re complaining about the 3rd and 1.

I disagree completely, I don't think you burn half your clock because you're afraid of converting 3rd and 1 and giving the ball back deep in opponent territory. Just do not like the passive approach, but it all worked out anyway so here we are.

Still disagree. But, I guess that’s why the coaching staff gets paid the big bucks and we’re posting about football on a baseball message board. ;)

That's probably the right call, but it's the kind that makes you hate the spot foul call in the NFL. Total bailout.

Why should you be able to get beat deep, just tackle the receiver, and turn a 50 yard TD into a 15 yard penalty?

I don't know that that would have been a 50 yard completion. I don't think MVS had great position. Just a really bad play by the defender to armbar him.

I didn’t hate it either for that very reason. I didn’t want to see the Colts tie it up before half and then start with the ball after halftime.

Feels like one of those games where Rodgers and GB can do whatever they feel like on offense. If that holds true to form it puts a big dent in Indy's running game. I don't think Phil can win a shootout.

To me that's playing scared.

Agreed. I think especially on the road, you take those chances and don't count on a 7 point halftime lead holding after 4.

I was scared. I have zero faith in this defense.

Right. This is why you need to score a lot.

I was feeling like we wouldn't convert that 3rd and 1 and after just giving up the TD did not want the ball going back to the Colts. Letting the clock run was right call.

Not only was that pass interference but the ball was so right there MVS probably should have caught it one handed. Didn't expect a TD there at all, nice call going deep.

I have to say, our red zone offense is so much better this year. They've really gotten creative down there.
