  1. If Quero isn't ready they probably need to plan for life after Bill anyway, I am not sure how much one more year does for them vs a couple of upper level prospects. They could hope to make up his offense at other positions and go with a defense first catcher for a year. Maybe a catcher comes back in that trade or separate trade. But it's hard to say what will happen in 27 right now and who knows, maybe they decide to pay him as their franchise player since Yelich's contract getting closer to end. But my bet would still be with Quero ready to sink or swim they cash Contreras in for prospects and save that 12-13 million or whatever he will get in arby.
  2. Many thought Adames would be traded. my memory was there just wasn't the demand they expected as Willy had just come off his worst season with the Brewers. When the offers aren't really offsetting the lost comp pick and the value they get from a team leader his last season you just roll with the comp pick. Plus, Burnes was already moved so the second part of the trade need, saving money, wasn't as big a deal any more. I do expect Contreras will likely be traded as there isn't much question he will be in high demand.
  3. Pretty happy about getting the Bears at 3:25 Sunday for the early gold package game. Guess they threw us a bone after the Thursday/Monday night games last season.
  4. Yes, there is plenty of room between Woodruff/Burnes and Nolan Ryan, I have seen deGrom mentioned twice here today and I think he was a guy we looked at as Misiorowski's ceiling when he was brought up. But as he breaks velocity records with seemingly every start I am sure I am not alone in dreaming of even bigger things from Miz. Maybe he is a freak of nature who actually won't blow his arm out, Randy Johnson is another lanky guy that comes to mind who pitched forever. On the other hand, in our division alone we have another young flamethrowing phenom in Greene and everybody's favorite generational talent in Skenes so I try to temper my HOF expectations 100 innings in. If there is number that Miz would agree to right now the Brewers might regret not paying but it is hard to see the Brewers going 100+ million on a pitcher who they control for 6 years.
  5. Yes, salaries are growing so fast it just doesn't seem like big number for a 1 year extension. They declined with Quay but he is not an edge. Also, I think their cap situation looks better next year than it did this year at Quay decision time. Now they have their starter opposite Micah for 2 years and can develop the young guys in the rotation around them. I am fine with this, it's similar to the Watson extension which I think paid off.
  6. Yes, offense is paper thin but if luck out with health on the oline and WR's I feel we are OK. Defense needed some new starters and they have addressed it.
  7. FWIW the Packers did give Patrick a 2 year extension
  8. Yes, would have rather done a pick swap like giving Tampa our 4th for their 5th or something so we are not giving up a player for 7 spots. But Gutes did say McClellen really starting to stick out for them as the pick got closer but you have to get those right.
  9. Yes, that is just nuts. This is a guy the Vikes picked up in free agency a couple of years ago. I feel like what is reported can't be true. Two 3rds?
  10. I didn't watch last night for an obvious reason but reading this morning the Vikings pick was a real head scratcher. #39 on JosephC's list above and broke his foot in offseason. Looking forward to tonight, sort of expect the Packers to move up and snag a player they like higher in 2nd round since they lacked first rounder.
  11. Yes, we paid something like $32 million for 2 years of very little production from Rhys Hoskins. It didn't cripple us and even if Pratt busts this won't either. The Brewers need to make these deals when they can for top prospects. Maybe a little early and not the toolsy prospect Chourio was but he isn't getting as much as Jackson so price seems about right.
  12. Maybe Yeli is back as the regular in left so Sanchez can DH more. They need some power to replace Vaughn/Chourio and Sanchez is the best bet they have there right now. I guess we will find out soon enough.
  13. At least Bauers should get a chance to keep his hot spring rolling. Trying to find any silver lining....
  14. You have got to be kidding me. We get this on opening day??? 😡
  15. Do both Koenig and Hall have options? I think Koenig yes not sure about Hall. I would guess it would be Hall since Koenig has been high leverage the last couple of seasons but I think I read here Koenig has lost velocity this spring. Edit: Yes, Hall has an option remaining
