  1. Need some late-inning offense. Brewers have been a good team at scoring in the 7th Inning or after. Keep that trend going.
  2. Looks like Valdez will take the mantle as the Pirates’ pain in the side against the Brewers.
  3. Touched up Ashcraft for 5ER in 5IP on the road with little production from the top of the order, overcome a short start by Sproat, yet walk away with a loss after blowing a 6-3 lead. Poor result in Game 1. Hope to get a more complete performance and a win in Game 2.
  4. Need to find a more consistent option than what Ashby is currently giving. Better hope the offense vultures this one for him.
  5. That’s a good sign. Continues what he was doing in AAA this year, which was building off the trend that was starting to show in AA last season, despite being much younger than average at each of those levels.
  6. Winning 4 out of 5 on the road is excellent. Doing so against a divisional rival is even better. Having the series being part of a 11-game road trip adds another degree of difficulty. Compound that with being a part of a 18 games in 17 days stretch. Not burning out the bullpen while chalking up wins is even more impressive. That’s quite the week so far on the road. Exorcise the pre-All Star Break demons in Pittsburgh, and it will be an epic trip.
  7. Going to need to stock up on antacids if Ashby is a high leverage reliever in October. Being the third setup man wouldn’t be too bad. Should try to obtain another trusted arm to pair with Uribe.
  8. A name that was mentioned in a recent Brewers postgame show was Casey Mize (RHP) from Detroit. Would be a rental starter, but shouldn’t have quite the same Skubal price tag to acquire. Doesn’t get you a top of rotation pitcher, but could solidify the #3/#4 slot in the rotation.
  9. Brewers have one remaining: the extra-inning challenge. Probably considered not worth risking it up by four runs. Save it for pitching.
  10. Pratt hit into a fielder’s choice on the failed sacrifice bunt. Bauers was thrown out returning to third base.
  11. Hamilton can’t make that type of baserunning error to run into the tag.
