I also would have been intrigued by a 1 year deal. I think he did better than expected. I thought he'd get $3-4 million with another $2-3 million in incentives. Sounds like he ended up with $5 million plus $1 million in incentives.

By wRC+, Urias has better career numbers (Although barely) and is younger, cheaper, a better defender and with more positional versatility. Could of course use Urias at 2B and Candelario at 3B, but Wong has been a better hitter as well. $5-6m for Candelario isn't bad, but it's not really a big enough upgrade to use a decent chunk of the available money on. 

If you believe his 2020-2021 to be real he'd be worth a lot more, but based on the non-tender and the comparatively cheap contract he ended up getting, teams clearly don't believe that. Walk rate down 40% from his career numbers is a worrying sign, and a .272 OBP downright ugly. And doesn't have the power to make up for it.
