SS Eduardo Garcia (1-for-4, 2B, walk) and Venezuela had plenty of chances (3-for-19 with RISP; 12 LOB), but ultimately fell 5-4 in 11 innings to the Dominican Republic in the semifinal.

They had bases loaded, nobody out in the 8th inning (scored 1); 2-on, 1-out in the 9th (no runs); 2-on, nobody out in the 11th (no runs).

Garcia doubled to lead off the 3rd inning (didn’t score), then later K’d on 3 pitches for the 2nd out of the 11th inning (crucial at-bat). He also misplayed a potential double play ball early in the game (no error charged).

Mexico defeated Puerto Rico 3-1 in the other semifinal. RHP Justin Yeager did not play.

Puerto Rico and Venezuela will face off in the third place match at 9pm tonight.
