Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Pensacola 9, Biloxi 3

Via the Shuckers’ website, game details and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Shuckers Fall to Blue Wahoos in July Finale
A night after OF Garrett Spain dazzled with 3 outfield assists, the team had perhaps its worst defensive inning of 2025, with an infield single, 2 errors and a misplayed pop-up contributing to 5 unearned runs coming across in the 2nd inning against normally-reliable LHP Tate Kuehner (2 1/3 IP, 8 R (3 ER), 6 H, 4 BB, 1 HBP, 4 Ks; season ERA 2.61).
With Zavier Warren getting his first rest day since April 16 and Mike Boeve limited to DHing, Manager Joe Ayrault had unenviable choices to play first base, opting to go with catcher Eric Martinez (0-for-2, walk, HBP, run), who was unfortunately involved in two of the three mistakes in the field in that rough inning (pick-off error on Kuehner, pop-up which plated 2 runs for a 4-0 deficit).
The bullpen was quite effective, highlighted by RHP Zach Peek (2 2/3 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 2 BB, 5 Ks) navigating traffic with key strikeouts and a caught stealing by Miller, LHP Brian Fitzpatrick (2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 Ks; season ERA 1.99) retiring all 6 batters faced.
Down 8-0 by the 3rd inning, Biloxi managed to cut the deficit to 9-3 and load the bases with nobody out in the top of the 9th inning, but stranded those men via a strike out and two fly outs.
Shuckers’ Extras:
- Offensively, Boeve notched a double, single and stolen base, while each of C Darrien Miller (1-for-1, 2 walks, HBP), 2B Jheremy Vargas (2-for-4, RBI) and OF Luis Lara (1-for-3, 2 walks, RBI) had solid days.
- Manager Ayrault joined Kuehner in leaving the game early, going via the ejection route while trailing 8-0 in the 4th inning.
- We’re patiently awaiting word on the availability of C Matt Wood, who hasn’t played since exiting Tuesday’s game early.
Friday’s outlook: LHP Nate Peterson (3.88 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, 7.6 K/9 in 55 2/3 IP) is the most likely candidate to start, with Biloxi needing a victory at Pensacola to even this week’s series at two games apiece.
Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Wisconsin 5, Lake County 4 (in 10 innings)

Wisconsin’s fabulous media team has put together video highlights of their exciting victory:
And don’t miss the 33-minute Mehring/Lobner post-game podcast, featuring 1B Blake Burke, RHP Aaron Rund and Manager Victor Estevez.
As you’ve seen, read and heard, starting RHP Manuel Rodriguez (6 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 4 Ks) allowed only 2 of 20 Captains to reach base as Wisconsin built a 3-1 lead, before SS Eduardo Garcia (3-for-5, RBI) and Burke snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the 10th inning.
Garcia also singled to lead off the 1st and 4th innings, the latter spurring Wisconsin’s 3-run rally, with OF Kay-Lan Nicasia (2-for-4, RBI) and Andrick Nava registering RBI singles.
Timber Rattlers’ Extras:
- Two Lake County infield singles to lead off the 7th inning put LHP Jesus Broca in a jam, immediately compounded by an RBI double and walk to make it a 3-2 game with the bases loaded and nobody out. From there, Broca did well to limit the damage to a game-tying sacrifice fly, pop-out and fly out.
- Broca, Rund (1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 2 Ks) and RHP Patricio Aquino recorded the final 12 outs without allowing a hit.
Friday’s outlook: RHP Tanner Gillis (1.99 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 6.9 K/9 in High-A/Low-A 58 2/3 IP) gets the chance to boost Wisconsin to a 3-1 series lead.
Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Augusta 3, Carolina 0
Box Score and Game Log
Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Mudcats Shutout at Augusta
The stranding of 2B Josh Adamczewski (1-for-3, walk) after his leadoff double in the 1st inning (due to 3 consecutive strikeouts) was unfortunately a sign of things to come, as Carolina went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position over the first 5 innings of the game, stranding 8 baserunners in that span.
Though he took the loss to drop to a 1-7 record on the 2025 campaign, LHP Wande Torres turned in one of his best outings, allowing only 4 singles and 0 walks (5 IP, 1 R, 1 HBP, 4 Ks).
Down just 1-0 entering the 6th inning, the Mudcats offense took the rest of the night off, with their final 12 batters going down in order.
Mudcats’ Extras:
- 3B Gery Holguin (2nd inning double) and SS Luis Pena (5th inning single) had 2 of Carolina’s 3 hits on the night.
- The team went down via strikeout 16 times in the game, with every position player notching at least one except for Adamczewski.
- RHP Griffin Tobias covered the final 3 innings in 67 pitches (2 R, 6 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks).
Friday’s outlook: RHP Bryce Meccage (4.14 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 8.8 K/9 in 67 1/3 IP) gets the call to lead Carolina to a series-tying victory.
Final: DSL LAD Mega 5, DSL Brewer Blue 4
Box Score and Game Log
The Blue Men rallied from a 4-0 deficit via a 4-run 8th inning before losing on a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 9th inning, falling to a record of 21-20.
C Johanderson Tarazona’s 2-run double tied the contest 4-4 and represented the Blue team’s only extra-base hit. Tarazona went 1-for-2 with 2 walks to lead the offense and also notched a caught stealing to end LAD Mega’s 2-run 2nd inning.
Although RHP Brailin Aguirrez (3 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 2 HBP, 2 Ks) got the start, RHP Carlos Galindo did more of the heavy lifting, only allowing 3 baserunners over 5 innings of work (3 R (2 ER), 3 H, 0 BB; season ERA 3.63). Unfortunately, he also allowed the homer to take the Loss.
Final: DSL Brewers Gold 2, DSL Rojos 1
Box Score and Game Log
Starting 17-year old RHP Gustavo Garcia (5 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 3 Ks; season ERA 4.04) and 18-year old RHP Derlin Garcia (4 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 4 Ks; season ERA 0.73) stifled the opposition to lift Gold’s season record to 18-23.
3B Juan Martinez (2-for-4, SB, 2 runs) was the ignitor for Gold’s offense, singling and scoring to lead off the 4th inning for a 1-0 lead and doubling and scoring to lead off the 6th inning to restore the advantage to 2-1.
That lead looked in doubt when Rojos doubled to lead off the top of the 9th inning, but 2B Romano Donato gunned down that baserunner at home for the 2nd out of the frame before Derlin Garcia ended the game via pop out.
