Brewers Video
For the week, Wisconsin (3-2) and Carolina (3-2) were series winners, Biloxi managed a draw (3-3) and Nashville was swept (0-6).
Transactions:
- Signed RHP Travis MacGregor and assigned to AA Biloxi
Per my Link Report counterpart @Mass_Haas: “MacGregor, 27, has made 218 career minor league appearances, including 36 this season with the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders in the Texas Rangers organization. The Tarpon Springs, Florida, native was originally selected in the second round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.”

Via the Sounds’ website, game details and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Swept For First Time in Six-Game Series with Loss to Jumbo Shrimp
The linked game report tells the story well, with starting RHP Carlos Rodriguez delivering a terrific outing (5 2/3 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 4 BB, 1 WP, 6 Ks), but the offense coming up short.
It’s one thing for a 23-year old pitcher to throw on 4 days’ rest (after 87 pitches in a rough Tuesday effort), but Rodriguez actually tossed 103 pitches on Sunday, successfully shutting out the Jumbo Shrimp for the first 102 pitches before a 71.8mph, 2-run single.
Although the offense only managed to produce 3 hits, OF Steward Berroa (1-for-2, double, 2 walks) reached base 3 times and helped give the team an early 1-0 lead.
Sounds’ Extras:
- Kudos to the bullpen of RHP Will Childers, rehabbing LHP Rob Zastryzny, RHP Craig Yoho and RHP Joel Payamps (1 IP, 2 Ks) for combining on 3 1/3 scoreless innings to give the Sounds’ punchless offense a chance.
- Having your 3-thru-7 hitters produce an 0-for-18 evening tends to lead to a poor final outcome.
Next week’s outlook: Nashville heads over to North Carolina to face Rays’ affiliate Durham for 6 games, with RHP Chad Patrick scheduled to start Tuesday’s series opener.
Final: Knoxville 3, Biloxi 2

Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Shuckers Fall to Smokies in Road Trip Finale
Eerily similar to their friends in AAA, starting RHP Brett Wichrowski was nearly perfect through 4 innings (allowing only a 2-out walk in the first frame), but it wasn’t enough as the Shuckers failed to score after the first inning.
Of course, University of Tennessee alum 1B Blake Burke (1-for-3, HR, walk, 2 RBIs) did his part to put Biloxi in front early:
Wichrowski (4 1/3 IP, 3 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 HBP, 5 Ks) had thrown 88 pitches on Tuesday and ultimately faltered in the 5th inning of this game, allowing a single, 2 walks and 2 hit-by-pitches before being lifted with the game tied 2-2 with the bases loaded and one out.
Two of the Smokies’ 3 runs were of the HBP RBI variety, with RHP Ryan Middendorf knocking the last one home in relief of Wichrowski.
That said, the Biloxi bullpen was solid, with Middendorf, RHP Nick Merkel, LHP Raul Alcantara and RHP Austin Roberts coming through with 3 2/3 scoreless innings, 5 Ks and no walks.
Shuckers’ Extras:
- Apart from Burke’s homer, Biloxi’s only other hit was a 5th inning single by C Darrien Miller, who was erased by a ground ball double play.
- Have a listen to the recorded 6-minute, 37-second pre-game show, featuring Manager Joe Ayrault.
- With Adam Hall injured on Saturday and Mike Boeve sitting out the team’s last 3.5 games, we’ll see if someone returns or the organization makes a move to shore up the bench by Tuesday.
Next week’s outlook: Biloxi return home to play six games against Braves’ affiliate Columbus, with RHP Jaron DeBerry (4.41 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 9.3 K/9 in 69 1/3 IP across 3 minor league levels) scheduled to start on Tuesday.
Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes
Rained Out: Wisconsin at Peoria
Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, more rainout details: Wisconsin’s Series Finale in Peoria Canceled
Hopefully the rainout allowed players and fans to enjoy the Brewers’ thrilling comeback win.
Next week’s outlook: Wisconsin returns home to take on Dodgers’ affiliate Great Lakes for six games, commencing on Tuesday. Crowds will be undoubtedly be packed to see Jesus Made and Luis Pena for their High-A home debuts. RHP Travis Smith (3.26 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 6.8 K/9 in 80 Low-A/High-A IP) is the most likely starter on Tuesday.
Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Carolina 8, Lynchburg 3
Box Score and Game Log
Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Mudcats Take Series from Lynchburg
In yet more terrific pitching, starting 18-year old RHP Ethan Dorchies (4 2/3 IP, 3 R, 3 H, 4 BB, 4 Ks) didn’t allow any hits until the 4th inning and RHP Jayden Dubanewicz tossed 4 1/3 innings of 1-hit, scoreless relief (4 BB, 1 HBP, 3 Ks).
18-year old OF Jose Anderson (2-for-3, HR, 2 walks, 3 RBIs, SB) was the big story, homering for the second straight day to stake the staff to an early 3-0 lead:
After the Mudcats failed to cash in on a 2nd and 3rd, 1-out opportunity in the 4th inning, Lynchburg pushed across 2 runs against Dorchies on a double, single and 2 walks before Dubanewicz entered and conceded an RBI single, although OF Tyler Rodriguez did well to gun down a runner at home to end the inning.
An Anderson single and Rodriguez (2-for-4, double, walk, 2 RBIs, SB) 2-run double followed a few batters later as Carolina restored their advantage in the bottom of the 5th inning.
1B Eric Bitonti went 1-for-5 with 2 Ks, but extended his Carolina League home run lead with his 18th of 2025:
DH Josh Adamczewski (2-for-4, walk, 2 RBIs) continues to mash Low-A pitching:
Mudcats’ Extras:
- Every Mudcat reached base via hit or walk, with C Yannic Walther (2-for-4, 2 doubles), 2B Luis Lameda (2-for-5) and 3B Gery Holguin (1-for-3, 2 walks) all having excellent days.
- Anderson also doubled up a baserunner at first base on a fly ball double play to end the top of the 6th inning.
Next week’s outlook: Carolina hits the road to battle Astros’ affiliate Fayetteville this week, with RHP Tyler Renz or RHP Bryce Meccage most likely to start Tuesday’s series opener.
