  1. Well I'm definitely going to be there (actually the whole series) so that means TLB will too! Yea, I'm excited!!
  2. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/index.jsp?&partnerId=DC-122991-49966899-5683346%22&partnerId=aw-5145469002532066678-996 MLBTV for $10 the next two days. I have it and love it.
  3. Wait, were you at Miller yesterday? And you didn't cone to the tailgate? tsk tsk
  4. This article is a week old but I think it gives some good insight of the new owner. http://mobile.nytimes.com/2012/08/13/sports/baseball/astros-get-hope-and-youth-from-new-owner-and-new-approach.xml
  5. I just wanted to say I had a great time and thanks to TLB for putting everything together. And thanks for the bag Rosanna! http://i.imgur.com/sFoSx.jpg
  6. Yesterday at the game, we had a clear view of the sausage race. Chorizo was leading the whole race but Italian pulled ahead at the last minute to win. HOWEVER they gave the win to Chorizo?!?! Something fishy is going on...
  7. And that's the point. It's not easy, but I make it work. And yes, I've been told by nutritionists I'm meeting my requirement. I guess I just don't get the disdain. Anyway, to each it own. I don't like to argue about people's diet choices. But I will end with, considering all the benefits, I think a vegetarian-friendly diet should be strongly considered by all.
  8. It's not really that meat is unhealthy, it's that a vegetarian-friendly diet is more healthful because vegetarians consume less animal fat and cholesterol, and more fiber and antioxidants. Also eating more plant-based foods and less saturated fats helps keep your weight down, reduce heart disease, and increase calcium intake. I would never encourage everyone to be a vegetarian. I actually think how TLB does it is great. He doesn't deprive himself of animal protein but is vegetarian-friendly. I'll admit it might not be easy, but it doesn't have to be all or nothing.
  9. I've been a vegetarian for over 7 years and the most common obstacles I've noticed is 1. to get out of the mentality that a meal has to be meat, potatoes and a vegetable, and 2. to be willing to try different cuisines and ingredients you never even heard of. Whenever someone tells me that they're interested in becoming more vegetarian friendly I recommend the Vegetarian Times Complete Cookbook. It has two beginning sections on why go veg and nutrition, and then is followed by hundreds of recipes from breakfast to dessert. The recipe in Vegetarian Times strive to be healthy, so if that's a goal I would check out their magazine too. The Moosewood cookbooks are actually my favorites, but VT is a good introduction. Also the Moosewoods do not have any meat sections, only fish. ETA: Moosewood is a famous vegetarian restaurant in Ithaca, NY.
  10. TLB and I just returned from Denver and had a great time. Thanks for all the suggestions! Quick recap for anyone interested: We did rent a car and spend a full day in Rocky Mountain National Park. We TOTALLY lucked out with the weather. Blue skies and in the 50s. (On Monday it hit 75 in Denver.) We couldn't walk around Bear Lake since we didn't have snow shoes but we did walk about 4 miles roundtrip on Old Fall River Road towards Chasm Falls. Gorgeous views. Just really humbling. And I saw elk! TLB was bummed though that we didn't see any big-horned sheep. In Denver we stayed at the Queen Anne Bed and Breakfast. It was fantastic and the breakfast was delicious. We went during Denver Restaurant Week and tried The 9th Door, a tapas place not far from Coors Field. Love the food and the atmosphere. Otherwise, we just relaxed and explored the city. Definitely want to visit again. Great way to celebrate my 30th birthday.
  11. I probably posted this here before but my favorite baseball book by far is "Luckiest Man: The Life and Death of Lou Gehrig" by Jonathan Eig. My standard for baseball biographies.
  12. TooLiveBrew and I are taking a quick trip to Denver in the beginning of March. If anyone has gone, what are some dos or don'ts. Thanks!
  13. So you're telling me there's no hope?! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
  14. TooLiveBrew and I were in attendance at jason21nl wedding this weekend. It was lovely and the bride was gorgeous. And bf.net would be very happy to know there were plenty of Brewer references from the trivia (although it was done a little differently than mentioned) to the favors to the Grand March. BTW, I never heard of the Grand March until I moved to Wisconsin. I'm been to plenty of weddings (only on the east coast) where the wedding party is introduced but not with something choreographed. I'm assuming it's a Wisconsin tradition.
