  1. Clark for Prior? Are you talking 1988 vintage Will Clark or someone else? Surely the Brewers don't have the Clark you're alluding to.
  2. Drew is very damaged goods -- a Rolen-type should injury is the word; at least one season lost if not totally then by way of greatly diminished production. Way to go with the opt-out on the Dodgers deal, J.D. Rios was the #6 prospect in all of baseball in 2004 per Baseball America (between Rickie Weeks and Kaz Matsui) and drew comparisions to Dave Winfield. He was a high school draftee and was viewed as a toolsy but raw player in the minors. I can't see any reason to be cynical about his progress or say that he won't continue to perform or even grow into a cornerstone player.
  3. Ah... I was waiting for that. Sound the alarm, trade comments on the major league board! Personally, in my time here I've never understood why there are two seperate boards. But that's just me. Turnbow has been involved in trade talks since the end of the season. From what I've heard, it sounds as though he's definitely in demand, has not been placed "off limits" in any regard by the Brewers, and my inference is that he's the most likely to go this offseason. Lieber strikes me as a player who's reputation hasn't left him while a good amount of his ability has. He used to get killed by lefties in his splits. Dunno if that's still the case, but regardless I'm not a fan.
  4. Seems plausible -- I was at an event a couple weeks ago and Gord Ash spoke about the offseason. Turnbow had been pulling quite a bit of interest at the time and thoughts were that he took too many points of advice during the all star break and goofed up his mechanics momentarily. Seemed as though many think he'll come back A-OK.
  5. That's why Roberts is a $2.2 million a year player -- he's a CF offensively and a defensive LF.
  6. Dave Roberts would be an interesting choice for platoon guy (LF not CF) -- he generates good numbers vs. righties but is very weak vs. lefties. 3-year averages. vs. RHP .282/.360/.412 vs. LHP .246/.310/.342 OF situation for the other half of a platoon: Mench vs. LHP (last 3 yrs) .307/.379/.590 Clark vs. LHP (last 3 yrs) .280/.370/.402 Gross vs. LHP (last 3 yrs) small sample - .044 BA I'm assuming that Hart goes nearly every day in RF while Mench and Roberts would platoon in Left for one of the oddest two-headed-monsters seen in years.
  7. Never realized it until the World Series, but Bonderman relies primarily on two pitches -- a 94mph fastball and a slider that ticks in only a few mph slower. Seems like a a repetoire that could present problems down the road. "Hitting is timing. Pitching is upsetting timing." - Warren Spahn
  8. Vazquez is nice from a durability standpoint, but his focus and consistency has gone right out the window the past few years. A total tease He'll get hitters out for a few innings, with K's, and then just lose it. For weeks at a time. He was a wonderful player back in 2003 with Montreal but has regressed a fair bit. Take a look at his game-by-game line from last year. Way too many 5, 6, 7 and 9 run games to be depended on as something other than an end-of-rotation guy. tsn.ca/mlb/teams/players/...7&team=CHA
