I had a dream last night that the Brewers traded for Brian Fuentes. It was one of those dreams that when you wake-up, for the first 30 seconds or so you thinks it?s real. I remember how good it felt thinking the Brewers had a quality lefty in the bullpen, but it was just that, a dream. So back to reality, which this year sure isn?t a bad thing. Brewers in first place, 7.5 games ahead and are looking like the best team in the Central. No, it?s not too early to say, THE MILWAUKEE BREWERS ARE FOR REAL! With the trade deadline thirty days away, do you think the Brewers need to add a quality lefty reliever? I personally would love to see it. Here?s a list of some lefties that I think could help the Brewers: 5 Star C.J. Wilson, Texas?I?d love to see this guy in a Brewer uniform, but he might be too young, too talented and too affordable for the Rangers to part with. George Sherrill, Seattle?Hard thrower, with great control. I don?t see anyone catching the Angels?could this guy possibly become available? I doubt it. 4 Star Damso Marte, Pittsburgh?Another hard-throwing veteran lefty. Has more than a strikeout per inning, and lefty batters are hitting only .108 against. Scott Downs, Toronto?Young lefty with great stuff. His walks are pretty high, but lefties are hitting .130 against. 3 Star Jeremy Affeldt, Colorado? Here?s a guy that looks like he?s figured it out since coming over from KC and moving to the bullpen. Aaron Fultz, Cleveland? He?s having a career year with a 2.04 ERA. But the Indians are probably buyers and not sellers. Allen Embree, Oakland?Another veteran having a good year. He?s taken over the closer role while Houston Street is injured. Lefties are hitting around .300 against him though. 2 Star Wilfredo Ledezma, Atlanta?Oh, that?s right?the Braves already stole him. Jimmy Gobble, Kansas City? He?s got a nice arm with some upside. But he?s probably a year or two away from being a quality loogy. Jamie Walker, Baltimore?Another consistent veteran lefty. You?ll know what you?re gonna get with this guy. 1 Star Mike Stanton, Cincy? The 83-year-old lefty doesn?t have much left, but oh wait, we already have him. His name is Brian Shouse.
