  1. There are still some deals to be had... I was there from 4 'til 5:30 or so and the crowd was kinda dying down. Their game used prices have kinda come back down to earth which is nice. It also seems like they have some nicer "close out" stuff on sale than in years past.. Still a couple ugly things and plenty of JJ jerseys and shirts. I was tempted on $50 Bush and Hall spring training jerseys. The Hall one was from the 2008 Wild Card season so that was neat. I ultimately put them down as I already have too many from years past. Some game used batting helmets were reasonable. $50 for some... recognizable names are more. They had a Gamel one for $100... not a deal but not totally high either. I almost grabbed a $75 Cameron game used bat... one was especially nice and barely cracked.
  2. I'll have to disagree with the comment that things were organized... I came in on the bottom floor of the center. Nothing was really marked saying where the main entrance was... where to get in line, etc. The people behind me were pretty upset when they realized we had to go up 3 escalators to the 3rd floor. They had come down from the second where there was another line. Long story short... they had a chance to get in line upstairs and could've cut their wait down by 20-30 minutes. Luckily enough I got in and waited in the line for Gallardo... the only signature I wanted. I got my locker room nameplate signed by him... it'll be a nice, one-of-a-kind piece that is going to go up somewhere in the house. The one downside to the autographs here was since there were far less autograph stations than past years. I think it cut down on the chances to get multiple autographs. A few years back I was able to get Sheets as my main autograph and I could've gotten a handful more from players signing down by the field level. In the end... it seemed like an ok event. It seemed like there were more kids events. I spoke with a couple players and coaches briefly and everyone seemed in a good mood.
  3. So I can't quite figure out the wording... is it 1 autograph per fan for the entire event... or 1 autograph for any given time slot? I'd like to get both Gallardo and Bush...
  4. Kinda like a trucker hat... but for strippers.
  5. Yeah... very disappointing this year. Sgt and I were on the first elevator down. Last year all helmets were $75 and jerseys for mediocre players (Jenks, Soup, Bush) were $75. They didn't even have players THAT good... and the cheapest were around $200 this year. No thanks. I did wind up with a Gallardo locker room name plate. I figure that will be a nice unique souvenir from the wildcard season. Also got a signed JJ ball. They do have better apparel this year though... some nice shirts, hoodies, hats, etc. Last year everything seemed pretty ugly.
  6. I'm looking for one of the official wild card hats worn in the locker room. I don't have that much of a problem with paying a reasonable markup on it... but I haven't found one on ebay yet where the seller will let me pick it up. This will be a gift for my wife so I don't want to run the chances of her opening the box it is shipped in... or questioning me on it when it comes in the mail. I'd appreciate any help. Feel free to reply to this topic or drop me a message. Again... I'm not looking for a great deal on it but I'm also not looking to be gouged in comparison to the going price. Thanks!
  7. I dug up an old thread from last year to give you guys an idea of price. http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=7314/t/Will-be-receiving-playoff-ticket-invoices-soon.html?page=3 Maybe prices aren't as bad as I remember. I believe they are total costs for two strips of tix. I haven't verified this against my invoice from last year as I don't have it in front of me. Terrace Box: $138 for NLDS $400 for NLCS $28 for the tiebreaker $1080 for the Series $158 for parking ($8.00 general for the tiebreaker, $15 for the other games) $25 shipping/delivery _____________________ $1829.00 Loge Diamond Box: NLDS 270 NLCS 790 WS 1360 Total: 2420 (didn't list the additional tiebreaker games or parking or shipping)
  8. Looks like the validation code thing is fixed. It was good while it lasted. Also the site has slowed to a crawl again.
  9. Sgt said it just happend in the last hour-ish... Whelp... either way... it looks like they just fixed it. It was good while it lasted I guess.
  10. Speaking as an experienced programmer I give pretty good odds that the vote is being accepted. Either way, it is worth a shot http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  11. Per SgtCluLs and tested by me... it seems as though you can type in any number in the verification box of the Final Vote and it is accepted... Don't know how long this will last but it has greatly increased my voting speed.
  12. All - it looks like the authentication is broken you can type in any code and it is accepted. Voting is MUCH faster this way.
  13. I support this 100% as long as it is to see what we can get in return for him on the trade market immediately. Hey... it worked the first time.
  14. But speculation is what it is all about. If there was no risk associated with Harden, Beane would've wanted a lot more for Harden. Fact: The Cubs got a discount on Harden because of his past injury concerns. You can't refute that. Past performance may not dictate Harden's future but on the other hand you can't go around saying "I think he's going to be lights out and 100% healthy." He has 1 season of 190ish innings of staying healthy. Either way... his first start won't prove anything, his next start won't prove anything either. The only thing that will prove that Harden can stay healthy is... well... Harden staying healthy for the season. Which... for the record... he has already spent time on the DL this season. Again, not a bad signing. Cubs fans should get excited. But then again, don't be upset or disappointed if/when he does land on the DL.
  15. But they have given up trade depth for a starting pitcher. If Harden goes down it is pretty unlikely that the Cubs will be able to acquire another decent starter. They gambled on his upside while choosing not to go with less spectacular but arguably less injury prone options in Burnett, Wolf, or whoever else might have been made available. Edit: And yes, they did get Gaudin... but he has proven nothing. Sure he has been ok so far this year but last year was far from stellar. He's a work in progress.
  16. You people who are saying Melvin got fleeced and the Cubs got a great deal need to give it a rest. This is a RISKY deal for the Cubs. Harden has only pitched 25 innings last year, 46 the year before, and 128 in '05. There are already reports of decreased velocity and he has complained of feeling a dead arm. He has not had freak injuries like Sheets; Harden has had continual shoulder/arm/back issues. He has already been on the DL once this year with guess what... a shoulder muscle strain. Even if his arm does hold up... will he get tired from his lack of pitching the last few years? All that said... Harden is VERY good. His potential is probably better than Sheets, CC, and Big Z. I like the trade for the Cubs, mainly because I love Rich Harden. But don't forget... it is a ballsy move; Harden comes with a lot of risk.
  17. I'm not a big club section guy... but it might be worth checking out if you just want to see the concourse area. Loge Infield (second level) on first base side is pretty nice. I think it is the best of both worlds. Close to the action, decent price. You can see everything at home plate but get a good angle on everything in the field.
  18. Yeah... that was next on my list. I was just looking at getting a handful of tickets for one of those games and noticed the code box.
  19. Not so much... I'm looking for a promo code to get tickets with... if anyone knows it.
  20. Looking at the Dodgers tickets it appears as though there is some sort of discount ticket coupon code. Does anyone happen to know what the promotion is? Like... who is eligible, what the code is, etc? Thanks!
  21. I've actually never hung out in the parking lot without tickets to the game. I've probably gone to, on average 20-30 games for the last 5 or so years since I came back from college. Here is an e-mail I sent to a couple friends when we were having the same discussion... I dunno... I guess it is all how you look at it. I don't think you should be able to expect to get into the lot if you're trying to pull into the game 10 minutes before game time. We have a huge amount of open lot space compared to some ballparks but there is overflow parking with shuttles to the stadium available at State Fair and there is room in the surrounding neighborhoods if you want to walk. Milwaukee has a reasonable bus system with routes that go to Miller Park. It really sounds more like a planning ahead problem to me. And yeah... there were some busy games last year especially near the end of the year... but again it is no surprise to me because I follow the team and know that on a certain day you need to leave yourself extra time. I think it is just kinda the mindset of people. Cubs fans deal with lack of parking fine. Packer fans make due with long walks to the stadium. Moral of the story: PLAN AHEAD
  22. If you want public urination cut down on then you should be rallying for more toilets in the lots. The number of portajohns per person is ridiculous and I don't fault anyone for not wanting to wait 45 minutes in line for one. But like Sgt says... there is NO way to enforce a ticket requirement to get into the lot. It really is only a "problem" on opening day anyways.
  23. The projections are on the conservative side I believe. I've used PECOTA for a couple drafts so far and here are some of the keys: 1. Make sure you look at the projected PAs. Sometimes they're on the low side. If you think a player is going to play all year then change the projections for your projected ABs. This may be one of the big reasons that young players are low because PECOTA will list a low number for plate appearances. 2. Take a look at the forecast. It will have a list of the odds of that player performing to certain levels. 3. Take a look at the breakout, improve, and collapse rates. That may give you an idea as to what their projections mean. A projection might be on the conservative side but their odds of breaking out or even improving could help you pick players who are on their way up.
  24. Just a quick plea to anyone not intending to use their code... SgtClueLs and I are looking to get some extra tickets for our friends. If you don't plan on using your chance at the tickets I'd love the chance. These definitely wouldn't be going on ebay or to scalpers. Thanks!
