No he really didn't Most who get busted, they put out a generic statement/lie saying that they must have unknowingly taken something which triggered a positive test, but they apologize for not being more careful and accept any punishment coming their way. By doing this, they smartly avoid what Braun stepped into by him holding a press conference where he defiantly claimed total innocence and also implied that the guy who handled his urine may have framed him. There is a difference between those ways of handling a positive PED test and it's why Braun received so much more backlash compared to others who got busted. Braun let his pride and ego get in the way of handling the situation smarter, and thus has paid a bigger price for getting busted than other players have. This. Exactly. Still haven't clapped for the guy when he bats. Makes me angry every time I think about it. Not telling anyone else how they should feel... but this sums it up for me.

People who complain that they can get better food at a restaurant or cheaper beer at a bar - well, duh. Obviously. That's all those places do. If you just want a beer, then go to a bar. If you just want a nice meal, then go to a restaurant. The food at Miller Park is, comparatively with other ballparks, very reasonably priced, and average to slightly-above-average quality and above-average selection, IMO. The best place to eat in a city will never be at its ballpark. But if you're going to eat while you're AT the ballpark, Miller Park is pretty good.

I know a lot of lifelong Blackhawk fans in Milwaukee. Not sure where the statement that no one cares about the Blackhawks comes from. The media doesn't, no - but the media doesn't care about hockey in general. NHL fans in Milwaukee are generally either Blackhawks fans or Red Wings fans (for those who can't stomach rooting for a Chicago team). Any Wild fans I know here are originally from Minnesota. Very few people grew up North Star/Wild fans unless their parents were from Minnesota or something. Simply put, there isn't enough hockey interest from the general public in Milwaukee to warrant an NHL team. The Admirals' great attendance in the early 90s (when the Pettits mulled getting a team) was not sustainable, and I don't think an NHL team's attendance would be, either. Extremely rich people who really like hockey and don't care if they make money, like the Pettits were, are very rare.

To add to the confusion, there's also a Green Lake in Washington County (my favorite, for sentimental reasons).

Second the recommendation for Taste of Belgium. Hello Honey has great ice cream, as does, of course, Graeter's. Off the beaten path, there's a little German place that does homemade sausage on the Kentucky side of the river - called Wunderbar (I think). Just a little hole in the wall, but excellent sausages, and a good beer selection. If you're into zoos, they have a really nice zoo.

Well said. Regardless of how my feelings about Braun have changed since then, I still always smile when I think of that home run. I'll remember it - and where I was and what I was doing when it happened - forever. The playoffs were something for OTHER teams. I had no idea what it would be like to actually CARE about them, instead of just watching half-heartedly as a baseball fan. More generally, I'm not sure we'll ever see a stretch like late July 2011 into August. That is the only time I can remember where I honestly thought the Brewers would win every game. They'd fall behind and I'd think... oh, no problem, they'll come back. Had never happened before, and has not happened since. They just couldn't lose.

I keep score too, and noticed we're left to figure out substitutions on our own. Yes, I can usually figure them out myself, but it's the principle that bothers me. And I don't want to stare at my phone during the game. God forbid the playing of the actual game should interrupt climbing a rock wall or finding Bernie in the crowd. And get off my lawn.

While I don't agree with the blatant negativity.... Photo Night was awesome. My family went almost every year. They'd definitely garner some goodwill from the fans for bringing it back.

did anyone do the jersey grab bag? I didn't like the concept, but was curious about what kind of jerseys they had in them. One of the benefits of liking scrub players is finding a cheap gem among the game worns (picked up a $50 Gwynn batting practice jersey a few years ago). Not possible if they're all in the grab bags.

Visited Cincinnati maybe 8 years ago for baseball, and a few weeks ago for hockey. Stayed at the Westin both times - walking distance to the ballpark, and great beds. The zoo is pretty nice. Concur on Graeter's and Taste of Belgium - there's also an ice cream place downtown called Hello Honey that is fantastic. There's a little hole in the wall German bar in Covington - can't remember the name - it's not walking distance, but the beer, sausages and pretzels are incredible. edit: the German place in Covington is called Wunderbar. It's small and doesn't look like much from the outside.

For dessert - Grilled pineapple slices with some ice cream and caramel sauce or butterscotch sauce. yum. made a grilled stuffed Cuban pork tenderloin this week - really, really good.

This year it's called the Double Clutch stand and is not usually themed to the opponent anymore, but still has a different special offering each homestand (you can get the same thing on the club level behind home plate). I really liked the Chef's Table last year and tried a lot of the different items. The brisket sandwich on the club level is one of my favorites. Otherwise, if I don't like the homestand special, I go with a simple beer and brat. My family loves the helmet fries. I was excited when they started serving poutine, but have been disappointed every time I've tried it.

Favorites: Field of Dreams (even if I only see the last 5 minutes), Bull Durham, 61*, Pride of the Yankees, Major League... and add the recent 42 to the list. Pretty good: The Natural (he strikes out at the end in the book), Sugar, Eight Men Out, A League of Their Own, Moneyball Blech: Mr. 3000 Also enjoyed the Burns series, and the When It Was a Game series - although not really movies.

I cannot believe Paul Molitor is 56. Holy cow. That just seems impossible.

Miller Park is middle of the pack for me. Nice, but nothing special. I've always thought the building itself was too big and not ballpark-y - feels out of place (although I do like not having rainouts). I appreciate tailgating as a unique Milwaukee thing, even though I don't often do it. If everyone was somewhat responsible while tailgating, it'd be perfect. I don't appreciate drunk idiots who annoy other fans, but that happens a lot of places without tailgating, too (although sometimes I think it happens more often here - but maybe that's because I go to more games here). My top few (out of 25)... AT&T, Detroit, PNC, Wrigley, Dodger Stadium, Camden Yards. Fenway and old Yankee for the history.
