  1. Mat Olkin, the M's new Saber Guru is being interviewed by the M's broadcast team right now and he's explaining why he's a big Brewer fan. No shock it has to do with Cecil Cooper. Here's a write up about him from the Seattle Times, if you are unfamiliar with him . . . seattletimes.nwsource.com...ton29.html
  2. Ichiro gets another hit. *shocked* If only he'd walk more *then* he'd be goodhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif EDIT: Got Jeremy Reed swinging.
  3. Lookie at that. Helms struck out looking.
  4. Lyle trying to hold Prince off. Yard.
  5. Hey EDR, I hope you were listening to the Seattle game, your man Charlie Fermaint got an AB. Sadly, he went down looking, so the Fermaint-o-meter stands at .000. Driving to Fox Sports Northwest Got Chuck's AB on I-90 East. Gottal love early Split Squad games where even Fermaint gets a little love. Was fun to hear Dave Neihouse try to come up with Vinny Rottino info as he pinch ran.
  6. Throw the fastball son. Babe Ruth is dead.
  7. Listening to the Mariners feed. Rick Riz thinks Weeks is a "Good Looking young man." Branyan likes standing at third.
  8. I thought in order to be elgible for the DFE process you must go to a community college, or no school at all. Here it has Dustin Timm as going to Nebraska. Isn't Nebraska a four year school? (I know I opened the door here for multiple Nebraska jokes) Timm is a Senior. The four year school rule appllies to underclassmen only.
  9. It's hard to argue with the man's success, but he just must be a tyrant to work with for him to have bounced around so much . . . www.signonsandiego.com/sp...notes.html
  10. I plan to go to quite afew UW games this year and watch Lillibridge play along with all the other PAC-10 guys. I really want to see Oergon State's Dallas Buck to see what all the hype is about. UW has started out terrible by getting swept by Irvine and they don't play a home game 'till March. One note of interest is that Lillibridge has been playing SS and leading off so far this season. From what I've seen, it looks like 2b and the 2 hole would be a better fit.
  11. I'm not sure what you mean by "declare free agency," but as long as players like Drew and Weaver are the property of some other team, meaning they got drafted (and as long as they are resident of the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico, they are eligible for the draft), they cannot declare free agency, at least not in the terms we're used to. I mean that they will goo that same Travis Lee, Matt White, JD Drew route. White and Lee got out on technicalities and everybody knew what Drew's demands were. I don't think the Angels budget is so huge that they can get all the top talent late like they did, plus sign Morales and sign Weaver, nor do I think Weaver and Drew, being brothers of current Boras clients are in any desperate need to sign for anything less than what they want. The Yankees, Mets and Red Sox do need to restock their system and drafting those two this spring to me is the same as being free agents since it is obvious that only a few teams are going to be able to ink them. Technical the term "free agent" is incorrect unless Anaheim and Arizona descried to save their supplemental round bonus money, but only in a strict sense of the word is it wrong. Unlike the others, Boras clients make their position clear, and they don't really care about how much the other signees get.
  12. I really can't see the two Boras clients signing anytimne soon. Everybody else in the equation is different, but Drew and Weaver I bet go the Northern League route and declare free agency.
  13. Dominican League Update the regular season is over so these should be final for everybody but Cruz. Nelson Cruz: Regular season: .310/.375/.460 / 87 AB / 3 HR / 19 RBI / 9/29 BB/K Playoffs: .333/.375/.400 / 5 for 15 / 1/7 BB/K Ozzie Chavez: Reg: .292/.292/.375 / 24 AB / 2 RBI / 0/5 BB/K Enrique Cruz: Reg: .316/.350/.474 / 19 AB / 1 HR / 2RBI / 1/6 BB/K Jose Capellan didn't pitch again after the trade so he finished the same as above with . . 4.30 ERA / 23 IP / 24 H / 7/19 BB/K
  14. Dominican League Update . . . Enrique Cruz: .316 / 6 for 19 / 1 HR / 2 RBI / 1 BB / 6K Ozzie Chavez: .292 / 7 for 24/ Nelson Cruz: .310 / 27 for 87/ 3 HR / 19 RBI / 9 BB / 29 K Capellan hasn't pitched, but these stats haven't been updated since 12/29 either . . . .
  15. Young Charlie now 2-for-9 (two walks) in limited action with the big boys in his native Puerto Rico... He sadly ruined his perfect 2 - 2 BB/K ratio with the wiff, but a 2b is nice. Viva La Fermaint!

  17. Well, this name flew under our winter league radar (which is pretty easy to do with Latin players). Edgar, how'd that happen? And with former Brewer Jackson Melian (not to mention my beloved Tony Alvarez) on the team as well. I blame myself. and the fact that there are 6 million Luis Pena's in Latin America and his stats say "Lusimar" which is so much cooler anyway. La Tiburones as closely as the Cardinales. I have found that the MLB site is okay for cumulative Dominican league stats . . . . mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/ml...s_2005.jsp and look Hector Carrasco 'aint dead! Some names from there . . Enrique Cruz: .200 / 3 for 15 Capellan: 4.30 23 IP / 24 H / 7 / 19 K (getting outpitched by Pascual Coco) Ozzie Chavez:: .300 / 6 for 20 / Triple And for those interested in such things (meaning me) Vlad Guerrero is 0 for 6 I'm sure I missed somebody down there too.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/grin.gif I still scour the Venezulean League page bi-weekly for a Hurricane or Alcides Escobar sighting.
