  2. You really can't go wrong with either. At this point it may come down to whether you prefer a one or a two-piece bat. The One.12 that I swung was extremely stiff and gave a lot of feedback when you made contact while the Salvo had a softer feel after say 200 hits.
  3. The 2011 Easton line is pretty popular. My vote goes to the Salvo which goes for $200 retail but can be had for $180 on eBay, otherwise the SRV3, SRV4, and SSR2 are all good options as well if you wanted to spend a bit more.
  4. Just because I am a retired Brewerfan.net softball player, doesn't mean I still don't follow the team haha. City and County are going back to 6-12 ft. for 2011 but the ASA standard says 6-10 ft. Last year some of the umpires were not on the same page with 10 ft. while others were still allowing 12 ft. and then some, so they said 12 ft. and nothing higher so we will see if it is strictly enforced. As for the bat testing, it is my belief that City and County are going to go in together on a compression tester but it won't be here until the playoffs come around. It was going to be a rule that all bats used in City Power on Tuesdays and County Major on Wednesdays had to pass the compression test but with the purchase/delivery being delayed, I believe they stretched the rule to all teams qualifying for playoffs in Major, Power, Inseam, and Social leagues including co-ed and women's. All a compression test does is it tests the walls of the bat to make sure they do not exceed a certain amount of flex, if they do the bat is deemed illegal and cannot be used. Houlie's Worth Mutant would probably fail a compression test because it has like 4,000 swings.
  5. We drew Wilderness Whitetails/Kim's right off the bat and lost 14-9, won our 2nd game, and then lost to that Extreme Motorsports team 23-18 I believe. For our first time ever being up there we all had a blast and will be going back for sure. I saw you guys gave Burghardt's a run for their money and they are a top 4 team in Milwaukee so nothing to be upset about there.
  6. Who are you playing for in the Dome? I am playing with Velocity/Amelia's and we play 8 a.m. on Friday.
  7. La Crosse rules. I graduated from La Crosse in May and I was just up there this past weekend. If 3rd St. isn't for you, then you can hang out at Chuck's or Howie's on La Crosse St. if you want a less crowded, college atmosphere. Also Top Shots, above Fayzee's, is an unknown to most college students if you just wanna shoot some pool and drink some beer with buddies. As someone mentioned, stop at Del's for Bloody Mary's, Who's for fish bowls, and the best wings can be found at The Sports Nut. Eagle's Nest for trivia on Tuesday was a great time as well.
  8. I used to get this message all the time. I also have a Dell laptop that I got in June 2006 and in spring of 2009 I had to replace the AC adapter which ran me around 100 and then I had to buy a battery in fall of 2009 which ran me 70 I believe. To solve your problem, I used to unplug the cord from my laptop, let Windows load, and then plug it back in and that used to work every time.
  9. TH is reporting that sources have told him Macha's option will not be picked up. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/104246488.html
  10. Yes, that would be Tony Butler, the 3rd rd. draft pick from Seattle in 2006 out of Oak Creek. He recently was cut from Baltimore but I know he is pretty excited about being a part of the Brewers.

  12. For me it was the heartbreak that was Tom Wilhelmsen. His 2003 season in Beloit as a 19-year old along with Manny Parra still sparks a positive memory in my teenage mind and it was right when I got into this site for the coverage of the minors. Wilhelmsen pitching was the reason I made the hour drive with my dad down to Beloit to catch a Snappers game and I was lucky enough to sit right behind Parra charting him from the first row. When I heard that he was suspended for a year for drugs I was shocked and then to find out that he was never able to kick that habit made it even more troubling. But then again, I have gotten my hopes up on pitchers so much in the past (Neugebauer, Jones, Hendrickson, Eveland, Capellan, Jackson, De la Rosa) that I've learned to not get that hope with a pitcher ever again.
  13. What website are you currently using for your fantasy league? -Yahoo. How much time do you devote to fantasy sports? I'm checking it probably 10+ times a day now, I know, saddening. In regards to the site specifically, what sort of things do you really enjoy about your current league setup? These could be things that have evolved over time or are staples of the site. -Yahoo has blown me away every year and I am really amazed it is still free. They have made keeper leagues available now, adopted a much better live draft set-up, and stattracker is an awesome addition for $10. What sort of things do you dislike about your current league? -Besides inactive managers, not much. I'm all for active message boards and it bothers me when people go weeks without saying anything. What improvements would you like to see made? -I'd like to see the players in the minors added to the player pool. I have always enjoyed following what's going on down on the farm to see who will be the hot pick-up come July/August, but with waiver priorities controlling who gets who now-a-days, it pisses me off that I can't make my claim earlier. What sort of things do you consider unnnecessary? -I agree with Houlie. The pimping of prospects on the verge of the call-up is a pet-peeve of mine that Yahoo always does-see Brandon Wood. But they do a good job exposing the casual fantasy player to players they would have never heard of. What other sources (other than the host site) do you use for fantasy information? -CBS Sportsline. Have you tried multiple sites for fantasy sports, and if so, why did you switch? -Was in an ESPN fantasy football league when I was in 8th grade and it was the biggest piece of garbage I've ever seen. Things may have changed, but I still have a sour taste in my mouth. If another site were able to meet your needs as a fantasy participant, would you consider moving your league? -It depends. Yahoo is so easy it's almost sickening. We've been running a keeper league through Yahoo for 8 years now, so everyone has everything down perfectly.
