  1. Schafer beats em all to the majors. He's starting to hit and he'll be in AAA soon ready for a late season call up. They like him, he can play all of the OF positions and is ready defensively. He just brings more to the plate than Komo or Gindl.
  2. Shawn is a great hitter, the problem is have you seen how many bases they steal off of him when he catch's. Not good. He started switch hitting this off season so most of his AB's are now coming from the left side of the plate (at least they were in the spring training) which I would assume is not his power side given that he is a natural righty. Shawn was probably going to be at Helena this year to work on his defense and be an every day catcher but they needed a backup catcher in Brevard so they moved him up and he was raking at the plate when he got the opportunity to DH so they left him there. Now he has been forced into playing catcher on a more regular basis and his average is dropping and the stolen bases are climbing. They had toyed with moving him to first base last year but obviously they feel that they don't need him as a first baseman because they've even moved Brock off of first base into the outfield. Sometimes you really gotta wonder what the heck Reid is doing with these guys out there. On a side note. I sure hope that Logan is OK. Great kid and a great player. If he's OK they should just move him up to Huntsville and Cain up to Nashville. They have both earned it.
  3. In looking at the Timber Rattlers and the Dayton Dragons one big thing jumped out at me. They had Ken Griffey Sr. as a hitting coach. I thought to myself how great it would be to have him as a hitting coach for the year so I looked at the rest of the Dayton coaching staff and realized that they had a combined total of 40 years of MLB player experience. Griffey having 19 of them and the other two coach's having 9 and 12 years each. The Timber Rattlers have 2 years of MLB pitching experience on their bench. I then looked at Brevard and they had 2 years of MLB playing experience on their staff though Miscik has lots of front office experience and Helena has the manager with 1 year of MLB player experience and that was only a total of 7 games and 5 AB's. It's not until you get to John Curtis up at Huntsville that you have anyone with significant years of MLB pitching experience and the other 2 coach's up there have none. Seems to me that the Brewers are not hiring quality coaching. Think of yourself as a young player and taking hitting intruction from someone such as Ned Yost IV or would you get more out of it from Griffey Sr. If you are trying to develop the younger players then you need to provide them with exceptional coaching. All of these players come out of the same draft and they are all rated by a lot of the same scouts. The biggest difference is what you do with them once you've signed them. I'm not saying that any of our coach's are bad people just that are they the best that the Brewers can hire?
  4. Efrain is by far one of my favorite Brewers. What a class act. Spoke to him this spring and he was telling me that he was going back to Appleton and explained to me that he understood why he was going back there and knew what adjustments he needed to make before taking that next step forward. How can you not root for this young man.
  5. For the sake of him and his family I hope that him not being here is baseball related and has nothing to do with his family. Hopefully there are no complications with the birth of his child.
  6. You get like one game a month to listen too and the audio keeps messing up.
  7. Need to add one more to my list of Arizona players I would like to see succeed. Don't know how I missed him because he has a great chance at being the first one of the bunch to make it to the show. Eric Ferris - Future Nashville starting second baseman.
  8. Here are my picks in no certain order. I'll call it the All Arizona Team. 1. Mike Jones 2. Erik Miller 3. Khris Davis 4. Austin Sockfish 5. Maverick Lasker 6. Brett Whiteside A special bonus pick for my favorite Canadian. Brock Kjeldgaard

  10. This thread has kind of gotten a little bit off track but I felt the need to throw in my 2 cents worth. It's an agents job to protect and promote his players. Josh does exactly that. Be it the truth or lack of truth and he does not comment on any players other than his own as Josh previously stated in his own thread in this forum. Just to point out a major flaw in reporting the following exert was taken from Josh's thread in this forum and it is totally not true. It's not to say that Josh provided this information to ESPN but it got out there somehow and there was no one from the Brewers organization quoted in it so we are to assume that it either came from the agent or from the player. None the less Chris Dennis simply did not make the Wisconsin roster out of Spring Training. He had a terrible spring and was left in extended spring training and due to injuries in Wisconsin he got called up. Not trying to take anything away from Chris as he's a great kid and was having an even better year and he was definitely trying to show that he did not deserve to be left off the roster. But none the less the following was reported on this site by his agent so I'll leave it to you to determine how much weight to put on his statements. Sad part is that someone stated that he had a nasty ankle sprain and in the end that's what put him out for the remainder of the year. Kind of ironic wasn't it. as reported from agent39. I realize that this is a copy of an ESPN.com release but as I previously said they got the information from somewhere. Wonder where they got it? " From espn.com Sleeper alert! Chris Dennis, OF, Mariners (Low-A Wisconsin) Tuesday's stats: 2-for-4, 2B, 2 K A 13th-round pick in 2007 out of Canada, Dennis is a compactly built power hitter that comes with the rawness generally associated with those north of the border who simply don't get as much experience as those from warmer-weather climates. He missed the first six weeks of the year recovering from a nasty ankle sprain, but has been generating a lot of interest since showing up in the Midwest League, batting .407/.471/.763 in 17 games. With 16 strikeouts in 59 at-bats, a batting average like that is totally unsustainable, but scouts think the power -- which includes four home runs and now nine doubles -- is pretty darn real. "
  11. Made a donation. Thanks for all the great coverage.
  12. Guess it's official now. Congrats for to Juan for a job well done.
  13. You can bring in all of the offense that you want to Wisconsin but on this last road trip they have given up 11, 9, 7, 5, 7 and 15 runs. Hmmmm.... where's the problem?
  14. I know of at least one person who's gotta love the AZL Mariners starting pitchers name tonight. Any relationship there?
  15. I see on the Timber Rattlers web site that Lorenzo Cain is playing with the Timber Rattlers tonight. Glad to see him making his way back.
  16. Brett Whiteside replaces Gindl in LF in the 4th. Hope that nothing has happened to Gindl. They only have 2 outfielders on the roster as it is.
  17. I'm heading up to Appleton on June 21st to watch my son Erik Miller play ball with the Timber Rattlers and we would like to find a place to go fishing for a couple of days near there. Any ideas on a reasonable place that we can stay and get in some decent fishing or perhaps just some local hot spots that we can hit. I'm sure that fishing is great just about everywhere but some info would sure save us some time and effort weeding through everything. Thanks in advance for any information that you can provide. Rick Miller
  18. Dennis going to Wisconsin is good news for him but it's bad news for the Brewers because what it really means is that Komatsu is probably really hurt and is not going back there anytime soon. Too bad for Komo and good luck to Chris and hopefully Erik will make a speedy recovery.
  19. If Meadows is old for this league then all but 4 of our pitchers are old for this league as there are only 4 pitchers on the roster younger than Meadows. He's a year younger than Watten and Adams.
  20. Just out of curiosity, if I remember correctly, didn't Lawrie just take up catching shortly before the draft and the problem was that he was learning a new position? The Brewers didn't want to go through the time frame of waiting for him to learn the position of catcher so between him and the Brewers they decided that it would be best to move him to a position that could help move him up the ladder a little more quickly. Coming out of High School I would have assumed that he had played another position. Wonder what that was. If I remember reading somewhere the biggest knock on Lawrie was that he never put much into his fielding but was an exceptional hitter. I think that he'll learn the position, he seems to have a good arm and he's pretty fast so range should not be a problem. Best of luck to him. On a side note.... I wonder if the decision to move Lawrie to second had anything to do with why the Brewers kept Cutter in the outfield. Rumor had it that they where going to take a look at him as a second baseman during winter ball and this obviously didn't happen and I'm wondering if it was because of the Lawrie decision.
  21. Brett was never sent to Maryvalle but was dropped from the Brevard roster and added to the Helena roster so this made for an easy switch to add him back on the Brevard roster.
  22. It's working now. Had to listen to the first half on the Quad Cities radio broadcast.
  23. I think that almost all of them missed the boat on who to watch this year. I think that Logan Schafer is very high on the Brewers list and will have a good year. He has moved up and will probably be the starting CF in Brevard. The Brewers really like him and as someone mentioned to me. He does all the little things right and he's a polished player.
  24. Just to add into the comment about the runner not sliding. Where in the heck was the on deck batter? It's his job to let the runner know that there is a play at the plate and in which direction to slide. I believe that's Juan Pierre who comes into the picture well after the play is over and the runner is tagged out. He should have been right there on top of the play trying to help his team score a run let alone protect his fellow team mate.
