  1. i might be concerned that teams looking to keep cost down might get housing in some sketchy areas.
  2. One thought I have about this is how will the players act in their spare time. There is a long history of professional athletes partying and carrying on while on the road. Hopefully, they will adjust their lifestyles appropriately. As an aside, I believe visiting teams stay at the Pfister. Maybe Milwaukee should start housing asymtomatic covid patients at the Pfister in hopes of decimating opponents rosters. Before I get crucified for that last comment. I know if a player on another team were to come down with covid there is a chance they could spread it to the brewers during a game and I really don't wish this disease on anybody, even a Cardinal. It was totally tongue in cheek.
  3. What in the world am I seeing here??? Thank you for asking, I was wondering the same. But I did have a good laugh watching it.
  4. But with 15 teams in each league there has to be inter-league play going on or else two teams are idle. Problematic with a short season.
  5. For me, The Sandlot is great if only for the nostalgia of the PF Flyer reference - the shoes that make you run faster and jump higher. The shoes of my youth.
  6. I would bet a large sum of money that there will be another complete school closing again this coming fall/winter. I was talking to a principal from west of Madison last week. He believes school will be back in session this fall.
  7. I'm not sure if it is in my top three (probably not), but I am surprised Little Big League has no mention. I am a channel changer if there isn't something new on that I want to watch. i'll watch 3or 4 shows at once. If Little Big League is on I usually have it in my rotation .
  8. I second the Long Gone recommendation. been forever since I've seen it, but as I recall it is very true to life as the Cardinals are an evil organization.
  9. So our refrigerator/freezer died yesterday, We noticed it about 7 o'clock last night. Fortunately we have numerous coolers so we were able to get everything on ice. Got up this morning and went to a local appliance store. Website and door said they opened at 8:00. This used to be the appliance store in town, but as with many local businesses Walmart, Menards, etc. has hurt them. But we figured if anybody would be able to deliver a refrigerator today it would be a small business who would appreciate the business. Employee shows up at 8:10, and doesn't open the doors until 8:20. By then there are two other people waiting to get in. Employee asks what we need and I reply a refrigerator, ours died yesterday. They only had about a half dozen fridges ( and they seemed expensive) and they all had prices except one. Naturally the one I was most interested in. I asked the employee the price and he said he didn't know, that a salesman would be in after 9:00. When I asked when the earliest I could get something delivered I was told Tuesday or Thursday. So much for the small business going the extra mile. So we went to Menards. They had very limited stock on hand, something about Memorial Day and missing a delivery. Would have to order the refrigerator, a week or two wait. Also, they would only deliver to the house would not install or haul away the old one. Next we went to Sears Hometown which the website and the sigh on the door said would open at 9:00. We waited until 9:27 and left. Durimg that time a couple and another person stopped to shop. The couple was still there when we left, but the other person left. And Sears wonders why it is struggling. Fortunately, my wife ran into friends last night when she ran to town to get ice. They told her to go to Grand Appliance in Sturtevant and ask for a friend of theirs who worked there. While we were waiting I overheard a salesman say that it was 2 or 3 weeks for delivery. Grrrr. However, later we heard him say that if it was an emergency delivery would be expedited. First good news in 24 hours. So after waiting for maybe a half hour (he was already with a customer) he joined us and 25 minutes later we had purchased a refrigerator. He said delivery Tuesday or Wednesday and that he would give us call when he knew for sure. We were driving home and less than 10 minutes later we get a call. Delivery will be Tuesday - we should expect a call Monday night to give us an approximate time. Got a great deal, no delivery charge (35 miles!), installed and haul away the old refrigerator. This part of the morning did not bug me! But I am just amazed at my first 3 experiences when Grand Appliance was so great. We would never have gone there if any of the other 3 businesses had there stuff together.
  10. I was discussing this with a body this morning. I believe Counsell is one of the best managers in the league, and I don't think it is because I am looking through rose colored Brewer goggles. I would never have said this about the managers in the 25 years prior. Anyway, my comment was anything that takes away strategy is not good for the Crew, because I think Counsell's in game moves are superior to most managers.
  11. Read a story on JSonline yesterday about a 34 (I believe) year old who was originally from Brookfield. The young man was a runner, had even done ultra-marathons, so I am guessing he was not overweight and he was in very good shape. Anyway, he was working in New York caught and succumbed the the covid virus. If a person like that can't fight this virus who can.
  12. I noticed that also. It gave me a Yuni B. flashback. Also, no Bernie in the chalet when Arcia homered (why would he be, I mean what are the odds:) ) Also, I think we needed a replay challenge on Pina being out at the plate - looked safe to me. I'm commenting on simulated plays. Yeah, I miss baseball
  13. Why risk spreading the virus more than you have to? Series should be longer, not shorter. But how are you going to do this with 15 teams? Do you have a team off for 3 or 4 days because the other 14 teams are playing a series?
  14. No Yoga, but my wife teaches a strong body class (geared to older adults) as part of her duties as a physical therapy asst. She has been "making" me do it 3 times a week. I shared with her the three things you have learned. She had a good laugh - they are the same things I have been complaining about.
  15. Saw today that they are considering realigning for the year and playing a cactus league and a grapefruit league. Each consisting of 5 divisions. Never leave spring training sites. My first thought is how do you play baseball with fifteen teams. I suppose since everybody is located near each other you could do away with the traditional 3 (or 4) game series, and just play an opponent 1 game and move on to the next opponent. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/columnist/bob-nightengale/2020/04/10/mlb-realignment-league-considers-radical-move-for-2020-season/5128935002/
