  1. Even prior to the start of free agency, baseball insiders speculated the market would be cold and there would be a lot of bargains come late January. Maybe Melvin is just keeping his cards close to his vest and will offer Sheets a one year deal in late January if he's still out there.
  2. $1 bratwurst. Beer sold by the liter. The "Bonnie Brewers" polka squad in lederhosen.
  3. I'd also like to sign up for Miller Park use. As a tax payer, where do I get guaranteed field time?
  4. Congrats to Jack Z. Thanks for getting us to the playoffs. Hopefully the Brewers can find a lead scout who wouldn't mind having three first rounders and two sandwich picks next year.
  5. Maybe Solly's should offer the gimmick, "Plump Up Like Your Favorite Brewer." For $200, each fan can have all you can eat burgers until the Brewers season is over. If you weigh more than CC at the end of the season, you get your picture on the wall. It will also be the predecessor to to the VH1 reality show, "Brewers Fan Fit Club."

  8. I doubt Nix will bat in the three spot because that would put lefties back-to-back. If anything, Nix would probably go in the 2 spot with Hardy moving to the 3 spot to be protected by Fielder. Hardy has shown this season that he REALLY needs protection... the type of protection Kapler and Nix don't provide.
  9. August 13 CC August 14 Sheets August 15 Parra August 16 Bush August 17 Suppan August 18 CC August 19 Sheets August 20 Parra August 21 Off-Day August 22 Bush August 23 CC August 24 Sheets August 25 Off-Day August 26 Suppan... Cubs September 17 Suppan... Cubs September 18 CC... Cubs September 19 Sheets September 20 Parra September 21 Bush September 22 Off-Day September 23 CC September 24 Sheets September 25 Suppan September 26 Parra... Cubs September 27 Bush... Cubs September 28 CC... Cubs (CC if the Brewers playoff status hasn't been determined at that point... otherwise, McClung) CC 10 starts Sheets 9 starts Parra 8 starts Bush 8 starts Suppan 7 starts The danger in this is you don't know how Parra, Bush, and Suppan will react to an extended rest schedule.
  10. Gallardo would be a huge piece in the playoffs. He won't be available to be a starter, but since CC, Sheets, and Parra may be asked to work on three days rest, the bullpen will be very important (especially against the Cubs who work the count). With Torres at closer, Shouse as lefty specialist, and Riske, Gallardo, and Villanueva as setup men, I feel good about our bullpen. If the Brewers get a playoff berth and win in the first round, the NLCS is going to be a real grind against the Cubs. Our bullpen will be very key.
  11. This is a site that is just looking to make a quick buck. If you want to spend $25 for that t-shirt, to each their own. But don't think it's not to make a quick buck.

  14. Nix has been hot over the last couple weeks. Why not give the hot hand a shot? I'm not sure Gwynn will ever have a place on the Brewers. If I were Doug Melvin, I'd trade him to the Padres for as much as I could get in return. That way, he's on a team that has an owner who will be patient and give him a chance. Also, San Diego's park is a lot more Gwynn friendly than Miller Park. Petco needs speedy outfielders for defense and it is ripe for speedy lefties to hit triples.
